Does anybody know a great place with lots and lots of pictures of Group 5 cars? I'm under the impression the ones I'm selecting will be picked multiple times.

Google keeps returning pretty much the same well known ones.

Definitely one of the lesser known group 5 cars this livery is based on the Zakspeed MK2 escort group 5 car. Before Zakspeed used the now legendary group 5 Capri they used this little beast based on the unlikely candidate of a ford escort, remember this is the same category as the Porsche 935. I ended up using the Mustang as a base as it's both a ford and it's shape best fit that of the original car. I was unsure if whether to change my original entry as there are already a couple of other Mustangs and the colours are similar to that of @daan s entry but felt like the bolder more complex design was worth entering. Livery is also sport mode compatible!

This was my favourite of all the liveries I found when researching.
I didn't want to do it on a Porsche just because I've done a bunch of Porsche liveries before and wanted to try a manufacturer I've not used much at all.
It's a shame it doesn't allow for the large "La Moda Goji" logo on the left/right rear that the original has, but other than that I think it translated across well.

After a little bit of fact checking and research iight have to scrap the Audi idea as they never raced in group 5, it was the gto Audi I was looking at

FINAL ENTRY
JMS Racing 3M Ferrari 512 BB LM '79

I've been sitting on this for a bit to see what you guys would post, just in case I needed to redo this :D.

Anyway, my entry is based on the Ferrari 512 BB LM that competed in the 1979 24h of Le Mans, and sadly didn't get to the finish line.

My story was that during the summer break of Formula 1 in 2019, the IMSA is celebrating its 50th anniversary. To cherish this moment, Ferrari decided to partner with 3M once again to organize a 2-hour racing event in Monza, with GT3 cars "dressed" in Group 5 colors. This specific #63 car is being driven by Ferrari's very own Sebastian Vettel and Charles Leclerc, with arguably the most eye-catching livery on the field, due to the combination of light and fluorescent colors.

Edit: found a good picture of the original car and decide to post it too.

FINAL ENTRY

One of the more iconic group 5 cars behind the Zakspeed Capri and Porsche 935 the Nissan Skyline RS200 Group 5. I initially tried the newer GT-R GT500 car, but thought that the older '08 cars shape matched the original cars better. I also updated the Nismo decals and swapped the skyline logo for a GT-R one as the R35 technically isn't a Skyline. I then I finally used a Y2 liquid metallic for the gold wheels as it matched one of the older versions wheels. I also felt that the Super GT GT500 cars were appropriate as they are effectively the modern equivalent to the group 5 machines with them both being silhouette races.

Fully updated entry and additional flavour text/reasoning behind my livery.

Well there's my entry done for. Back to the drawing board.

I still don't know what I'm gonna do neither if I'll have time to, but thanks to you I know what I'm gonna aim for.

It's not that year but I was born in the Group 5 era (yeah I know I'm that old :ouch:) and I'm gonna find a car that raced during that specific beautiful year.
You're welcome for the inspiration! ;)

You can look at some designs used in Le Mans that year, there's some interesting stuff!

I'm not that versed on GR5 cars, and trying to dodge the usual suspects (specially huge iconic Porsche liveries), I've found this car:

Liked the idea of the green gradient and went from there. My plan B was a full Brazilian entry in the 1978 Le Mans, also on a Porshce. The car has historic signifcance, but making all the old decals from companies that don't exist anymore is a huge undertaking for me.

About the Wera car, as the original raced on 1981 running of the Le Mans 24H, I did this with regulatory Le Mans decals, while keeping it Sport mode friendly. It's great that the screwdriver svg is a current Wera product and has high quality, so kudos for the kind soul who took the trouble to upload it.

I don't know if it is way too much for the theme, if it is, I'll toned it down a bit. The thing is, once I start, ideas start floating and it's hard to block them!
