For those using Internet Explorer....
Download 7-zip (if you do not have it already). Unzip with 7-zip and it will create a folder with an unusuable file. UNZIP this file and another folder will be created with the spreadsheet in it. Open that....
This works for any GT5 .xls file that you may be having trouble with.
