THIS MONTH'S THEME

Advertising something that doesn't even exist irl is your challenge this time, last LEC's winner @MatskiMonk chose this theme that was proposed by @cderekw19 via the suggestion form. Let's hear what derek had to say:

"Create a Livery using fictional brands only. This means the main sponsor has to be fictional, this can be from the fictional in game decals, or you can make up your own. Supporting sponsors must also be fictional. The only real brands that can be used are real tire brands due to not being able to place tire decals.
Liveries should be race focused and a number board is required.
"

CARS:
  • All

BODY PARTS / WIDEBODY:
  • Allowed, racing mods should be installed

LIVERIES:
  • Original designs for a fictional brand from any game/movie/xyz franchise

UNIQUE RESTRICTIONS:
  • -

BONUS PICTURE SETTINGS:
  • -

USER MADE DECALS:
  • Allowed

GENERAL COMPETITION RULES

ENTRY SUBMISSION

  • The only way you can take part is to be a member of the GTPlanet forums. If you haven't created your account yet, click here.
  • Mark your FINAL ENTRY clearly, with red text.
  • Unsure how to? Copy and paste the following: FINAL ENTRY
  • One entry per user. It must be your own work, and never previously used in a competition.
  • You may change your entry once. Do it clearly; edit out your previous entry, and either post the new one in a new reply, or in place of the original.
  • Do not post "Honourable Mentions" or outtakes - just your Final Entry, that's all.
  • Absolutely no entries which utilise edited/hacked file saves.
  • Winner gets to choose the following month’s theme.
  • The organisers may ask for the original image/livery and it must be submitted if so.
  • It's recommended to share the original livery online (in-game) to prove it’s your work.

ENTRY PRESENTATION
  • All images shall have preview images which may not exceed 640 pixels in either direction (main and bonus pictures).
  • You have to post two main pictures of your entry using the mandatory location and settings as shown in the quote below.
  • You are allowed to post two bonus pictures in a spoiler (
...
) with free location and settings (unless the unique restrictions of the week’s theme specify something else).
  • You have to make one post with ONLY the set allowed number of pictures and the FINAL ENTRY (see above) mark. If you want to add precisions/background story/links, you are allowed to double-post under your entry, but please put all additional images in a spoiler. The best way to do it will be to "reply" to your own post.
  • It is recommended you host your image either here on GTPlanet (via the Media section), or on Flickr
  • Not sure how to submit your image? Here's a guide for both methods mentioned above.
  • Do not attach your phots directly to your entry post.
  • A preview image must be representative of the full-size image. Do not add effects to it.
  • Please use a clickable-preview to full-size, not a separate text link for it; it makes poll creation much easier!
  • No post-game editing of any entry image is allowed.
  • Mark your entry with which platform you're on and which mode you're using, whether it’s taken on PS4 Base, PS4 Pro, PS5 Raytracing or PS5 Framerate.

MANDATORY PICTURES
  • You have to post a front and a rear quarter view of your car:
    • Mandatory Scape: S&Company East, Saitama, Japan (scape number 5)
    • Focal Length: ~80mm ±5mm
    • Aperture: f5.6 or f8.0
    • Shutter Speed: 1/1 Second
    • Exposure Correction: +0.5 to +1.0
  • Do not use any Filters or Effects at all and only the camera setting above within the allowed limits; the pictures are supposed to be as equal as possible for all entries and not give anyone who is a bit more savvy with the Scapes Camera an advantage! Try to stay as close as possible to how the video shows the shot to be taken!

NOTE: if you have previously entered, just go to Scapes > My Library > click your previous entry > Open Scapes > change car to the new entry, refocus and snap a new photo. No need to reposition the camera/car unless its proportions are wildly different.

Please, ensure you read and understand all requirements for this competition. Failure to follow the rules may result in disqualification. If you have questions, start a convo with me, Matski or any other participant you feel comfortable reaching out to.

PLEASE NOTE: Repeat offenders will be disqualified. If your entry doesn’t match the rules you will be made aware of it at least once, so please keep an eye out for any notifications reaching your profile.

I have some questions, in order not to go in the wrong way 😁

Ça we / I use :
  • An e-sport team name as main "sponsor"?
  • "My" designer logo (LS Dxsign)?
  • A renamed famous brand, with fun for example (In my mind, GTA brands are close to this idea most of the time)?

An e-sport team name as main "sponsor"?
Since it's something that actually exists I'd say no.

"My" designer logo (LS Dxsign)?
If it's just a small "signature" decal somewhere on the car it's okay I guess

A renamed famous brand, with fun for example (In my mind, GTA brands are close to this idea most of the time)?
Yeah, as long as the brand doesn't exist irl it's fine. A lot of GTA brands make fun of real brands but they're only fictional so it's fine.

If @cderekw19 has a different opinion then fair enough, but these are my two cents;

  • An e-sport team name as main "sponsor"? - If it's a real thing then I don't think it's in the spirit of the 'fictional' theme.
  • "My" designer logo (LS Dxsign)? - same as above really, though if it's a fairly inconsequential decal because you like tagging your liveries, it'd probably be fine, but not as a proper sponsor.
  • A renamed famous brand, with fun for example (In my mind, GTA brands are close to this idea most of the time)? - I think parody brands would probably be fine, but just doing something like a stand GULF livery and changing it to FLUG probably isn't in the spirit of the theme.

Thank you for your answers

I won't go for a livery with my team's name on it and I will just sign it 😁

For the sponsors, I was thinking for example to a Coca Cola Livery, but instead of Coca Cola, it will be Funny Cola (very first idea coming to my mind, maybe not the best) 😅

Thank you for taking some time to answer me 😁

It is just the beginning, so I collect the informations to go in the right way.

Except my signature, and forgetting the idea of doing an e-sport livery, maybe I will not even do a funny GTA-like livery...

Like everyone here, I think we are most of the time going to many ideas before finalizing the project 😅

This one opens a lot of possibilities 👍

My only other thought on it, is that the theme calls for original liveries, so taking an existing company's branding/livery and just changing the name might not be in the spirit of the theme, but I wouldn't want to close it down too much to people that can't make their own decals. I'd imagine building something around the ingame fictional brands would be the easiest/safest bet for those struggling.

Am I the only person who read the comp title and thought it said "Sponsored by FRICTION"? I was wracking my brain trying to work out how the hell that might work! Then I read the description...

I think GTA universe is large enough to let us doing several (and different) liveries!
@Mugo has probably made thousands of GTA decals and even if it would be hard for us, I'd be happy to see him in this LEC!
I may have a dabble, though my livery making skills are nowhere near the level of you guys. Though I guess you could say if a GTA effort wins, then there's a good chance I've had a hand in it with all the decals I've done.

FINAL ENTRY

PS4 Base
Looks like I’m the first to break cover with a GTA inspired livery & of course it had to be on a viper as it’s the inspiration for the legendary GTA Banshee

A big thanks to @Mugo as I’m sure most of the decals for this came from his gallery

Livery Link

Both these entries are fantastic, but they both have real company sponsors in them. Don’t all the sponsor decals have to be fictional?
