Join the cult, you two. Mnd you, with me it depends on the circuit:

The Good: Special Satge R11, Rome, Apricot Hill, Grand Valley, Trial Mountain.
The Bad: Special Stage R5, Seattle.
The Ugly: Laguna Seca

You forgot...

The Surreal: Nurburgring Nordschleife

(Okay, I agree that's the future, and not confirmed to be an Endurance event... surely they wouldn't...)

Those were just the enduros I like from the previous games. If you want to talk about possible enduros for GT4, we'll need a new thread.

As much as i love enduros I just hope that there is a save feature - I don't mean so you can save after every lap, but every 10 or so. That way we could have a 1000km race around the Nurburgring & a 24 hr race around Suzuka. Yah!

I didn't mind slowing down around the last corner. I always loved to go slow and then slam on the gas and fly past everyone on the straight. :D
I just don't like the kink and that slow corner, that's all. I liked flying around High Speed Ring at full throttle but when you have to slow down for the second half of the lap ... I don't mean a major re-vamp, I'd just like it to be a little less tighter so we can fly through on the very edge of grip ... but ... not ... quite ... over ... it ...

I think a save at every pitstop perhaps...but only for the enduro's that would last more than 2 hours.

And on the topic of High Speed Ring, I thought it was nothing special, except when playing 2 players with someone who doesn't really know the game, because it's a track you can learn quickly.

Do you race?
I'd say that shot of the #23 Xanavi Nissan has the blurred effect thebcause the shot itself is from the point of view of a pursuing car, hence the blurred effect. The other shot of the Penzoil/Zexel Nissan is taken with the camera tracking the car, so everything else will naturally appear blurred.

Those shots are from 'in-game reply' through Photomode. You can add blur and speed effects to the shots, as well as choose the angle of the cam.

Man, My fav Race Track ! ( Speed 12 around that baby in GT2 was b-e-a-utiful ! )

It was not in GT2 was it?... I am pretty sure HSR was GT1 only and this will be its first appearence since.

No it was definately used in GT2 ... but not much. It's the second race of the Sunday Cup. Other than that it barely gets a look-in.

In my view, High Speed Ring was very fun to race on when I had my 930hp Mitsubishi 3000GT (called "GTO" there) racing around in the fun Megaspeed Cup. You could basically blast around the track without having to make little errors like going off road and spinning, losing positions and shortening gaps. But as I say, you have to have played GTs 1 and 2 to know what it's like on that track. And with all the new and old cars GT4, you can race it from everything from a 1940s VW Beetle to the Fina McLaren. The atmosphere is pretty nice as well. It kind of seems more like a high-speed motorsports park than a FIA-level race track. I actually like this reborn track. About one of the most beautiful environments I can picture a race to be held would have to be Austria's A-1 Ring. I actually wanted to see what Austria is like. I've seen green grass, beautiful settings, and perhaps even checking out the capital city, Vienna/Wien. This reborn High Speed Ring is kind of like that.

Even though some or a lot of this information and pictures are old, it's a nice reminder. It's a reminder of what many of us will get for Christmas, granted we've been good boys and girls. And what's so fun about High Speed Ring? I like this track because of its simple nature. Simple tracks mean that beginners can find their way around and learn the physics of Gran Turismo racing. It's been that way since GT1. It is also a fast course. I think it's more fun with high-speed cars with precision handling than so much of Kei cars and "econo-boxes." In fact, it was fun in Arcade Mode of GT1 to race that sick Corvette from the 1960s there. It had only four gears, but it was well suited to take on the high-speed challenge. I won a race there with that thing, but only barely.

So to comment and end this post, High Speed Ring will be a great experience for newbie GT racers, and also a way to relive old times for Gran Turismo veterans. Enjoy the ride! All we need now are some videos (unless some are available that I'm unaware of).

Awesome pictures. I think I only ever drived on this track once or twice at my friends house, so I'll have no memorys to bring back.
you missed out mate there was a sick competition in GT1 called max speed cup or something anyway used to race 800hp+ GTO 's around there for a quick buck

p.s do you like the monaros rumored bonnet scoops????? 👍 👎

Highspeed Ring = Gran Turismo!!!

If you think about Highspeed Ring, you think of GT

If you about GT, you think about "THE HIGHSPEED RING"

I'm Still wondering why PD didn't include it in GT3????

I don't think they knew the full potential of the PS2. I remember reading somehwere that Kaz mentioned that GT2 was essentially what the original game would have been if they knew the full potential of the PS-X. It might be the same case with GT4 - GT3 was simply a trial run so that GT4 could be a true sequel to the true original.

My First GT laps where on HSR...and was lost to this games series ever sinds...its a great track.....has enyone heard about Red Rock Valley making a comeback?
That was a great high speed track aswell with a huge banked corner after the start/finisch strait...it was a GT 2 track. :scared:

Having never played GT2 I've never been at HSR, but those pictures makes the wait a lot easier - NOT... Can't wait to throw some serious horsepower around that track

Trust me, you have not lived until you throw a 700bhp Skyline around High Speed Ring with a set of Superslick Racing Tyres - on the very edge of grip - it's awesome, but it's also the main reason I want the last sections ironed out so I can break 44 seconds.

High Speed Ring is the purest essence of Gran Turismo series.

There was no other track on which two player could race a 100 lap race fot the title of the GT master - and The Legend Returns - with tyre wear, fuel consuption and LAN capabilities.

Some things are just too good.

If your one of those GT players that got caught up in winter 1997/8, HSR is the track that gently brakes you in.

Initially you use the other cars as brakes, oversteer like mad and spin. But after a while you master the course and figure out where the apexes are, how you stop the rear from braking traction on the last corner. Eventualy your blasting around in a White and blue Viper GTS-R trying to get the best exit on that last corner to shave off that fraction of a second that will make you lap it in 51 seconds.

Ahh, the memories.......

As a veteran to the GT series, i'm going to look forward to get back on the ol ring.

Edit: loool

I remember heading down the start/finish straight in GT and then turning left and then immediately right into the wall to see how high I could get the car and what kind of unusual crashes I could do. I did this with the Test Track also.

I also remember taking a Legacy round that track and spinning it on the 3rd turn because it didn't like the raised surface and was a true rwd monster to control even at stock form. :)

memories.

Mmmm, nostalgia.

Mmmm, Pie.

To be honest it's quite easy to forget how old the GT series is, I remember playing GT1 in the cold November of 1997. That day I almost got beat by a 7 year old at it.

OMG! HSR is cool and all, but RRV IS AWESOME!!!! Unfortunately, I haven't seen anything on it in GT4.
