CHAPTER 9: John Konnor
The sun rises in the quiet street of Gion. Josh is up, getting the Vitz ready for the trip to Mt. Aso. Yumi is inside making breakfast.

"Yup. Its been a long long time since we've visited Mt. Aso. I can't wait!"
"We're going wheel shopping too, right?"
"Yup!"
Josh and Yumi get in the Vitz and make their way to Mt. Aso. They take the new, Route X Highway. Yumi opens the windows, and removes her ponytail.

"*thinking* Woah... She looks so cute with her hair down.. I could stare at her all day...."
"This highway is pretty cool! Have you tried racing here?"
"........Huh? Erm.. Nope. Not yet, but maybe I'll try it out. They call this highway the Bayshore route. Elcid told me theres some fierce competition here."
"Really?"
"Yeah. Racers here are mostly stationed marines with their imported US cars."
"Well... I'm sure its nothing you cant handle!"
"Hahaha! maybe."
They take the exit. Soon, they get on the mountain.

"Well... It wont be as quick as my car, but I want it because it used to be my dad's car. So many memories in it."

They arrive. Josh sees the White Hakosuka parked out. Athena emerges from the GT-R.

"Hey sis. Is that the GT-R?"
"Yup. It stinks inside. It smells like old man."
"Hahaha! Does it run?"
"Well, I couldnt start it. Here are the keys. Good luck."
Athena hands over the keys. Josh notices that the keychain is the same as the one that he got from his R34.
"Wait... I have the same keychain."
"Really? Weird. Dad had that keychain custom made. Oh, is Yumi there?"
"Uh, yeah. Shes in the car."
"I'll invite her for some coffee. Yumi!"
"Hey Athena!"
"Hey! Wanna have coffee? Josh will probably take a while."
"Sure!"
Athena and Yumi go inside the house first, while Josh inspects the Hakosuka.

"Wow.. It still looks good after all these years."
Josh opens the hood. The infamous S20 engine used in the Prince R380 is sitting in the engine bay, covered in dust.

"Woah.... The rare S20.... Lets start it."
He goes in the cockpit.
"Woah.. Oil gauges.. Water gauges.. This looks like a racecar in normal livery. Lets try it.
Josh tries to start the S20. He presses on the clutch, puts it in neutral, and turns the key. After 4 clicks, it roars to life.
"The classic sound of carburetors."
"Even the tachometer is up to 8000rpm. Thats pretty high for an old car. Maybe I'll take it to Mr. Tatsumi today."
Yumi and Athena go to Josh.
"Wow! it looks great! And it actually works!"
"Huh? Thats weird... It didnt start when I tried."
"Maybe because I'm the master? Haha!"
"*sigh* What a kid!"
"Yeah right! Well, Yumi told me you guys were going wheel shopping. You guys should get going!"
"... Oh. Yeah! Yumi, drive the Vitz. I'll bring you to the wheel place. Can you keep up?"
"Of course I can! Bye Athena!"
"Bye! Take care guys!"
Josh leads Yumi to Shino Speed. The Tuned S20 engine revs to 8000rpm. Yumi is keeping up with the Skyline.

Soon, they reach Shino Speed. Josh and Yumi park inside the garage. Mr Tatsumi steps out of his office, and sees the Hakosuka.

"Oh yeah, Mr. Tatsumi, this is my girlfriend, Yumi."
"Nice to meet you sir!"
"Hahaha! Nice to meet you too! So, what can I do for you? Is that you're Dad's Skyline?"
"Yeah. I just got it from my mom house. It needs a bit of cleaning. I was hoping you could help."
"Of course I could! How about you, young lady?"
"Oh, I wanted to change the rims on my Vitz."
"We have a huge selection over there. My daughter Rikako would be more than happy to help! Rikako!"
"Yes father?"
"Rikako, this is Yumi. She needs help looking for rims. Show her our selection!"
"Alright. Nice to meet you Yumi."
"Nice to meet you too!"
"Alright Yumi! Can I leave you first? Just get anything, then I'll pay for it."

Josh shows Tatsumi the GT-R.
"Wow... After all these years... Shes still alive."
"Yeah. I can't really tell whats been done to this car. I don't really know Carburetor engines."
"Well, for starters, the carburetors have been swapped for bigger Weber racing carbs, a competition spec header, Racing camgears from the GR8 engine, and a touring spec muffler..."
"Wow... Thats amazing. Did my dad do all this?"
"Well.. I guess so. I, myself can't believe where he got these parts."
"Why?"
"Some of these parts are only found in racecars. They're not exactly street-legal. Many of them from the R380 racecar."
"Woah...."
"Can you start it for me?"
"Yeah sure."
The S20 roars to life.
"How high does it rev?"
"Well, I was revving it at 8000rpm awhile ago."
"Amazing..."
"Hows the engine?"
"Let me take a look."

"Well.... I dont think theres much to do here. This engine is at its full capacity. I could do a tune-up, but it wont really give a power difference."
"Is it reliable enough to race?"
"Hmmm... Yeah. But its an old car. I dont think it can beat the competition nowadays."
"Maybe I'll just use it as my daily car. My GT-R sips too much gas."
"Oh right! How is the GT-R?"
"Its scary. The engine is the same as the 400R NISMO right?"
"Yup. I got the engine from a wrecked 400R. I decided to build a demonic R34 with it."
"Well, I can honestly say its nothing short of demonic in terms of speed. I saw a restrictor though."
"Oh right. I put that in so you could learn how to control it before unleashing the beast."
"Oh, I had it uninstalled actually. I took it out for a spin on the wangan. I managed 370kmh. May I ask whats the full power of the GT-R?"
"WHAT!? You actually mastered the car already!?"
"Well, I wouldn't say mastered, but I can handle it. It is quite difficult to handle it actually. Its unnaturally fast."
"*thinking* Amazing....... In such a short time, he already got the steering feel, and the throttle work..."
"Yeah.. It has about 800hp. Its because of the twin turbo conversion I did. I've only done those kinds of conversions on you, a black Porsche, and your brother's R34 GT-R."
"Huh? I thought Bill had his R35 tuned by NISMO. Weird... WAIT. Why do YOU know Bill??"
"Bill has an R35 now? Oh, I know your brother because he used to date Rikako."
"*thinking* Huh? Bill used to date Rikako? Weird....."

Josh and Tatsumi go out of the office. Josh sees Yumi eyeing a fresh set of Enkei Tarmacs.

"Oh, Its actually sold already. I could order if you want, then just bring it here to have the wheels changed."

"Wow. The tune-up made a big difference... Throttle response is good... and it runs smoother."
They reach Gion. They see a parked Dodge Challenger in the driveway.

Josh and Yumi park at the house. An American looking man in his 20's wearing military clothes gets out of the Challenger and approaches Josh and Yumi.
"Yumi!! Hows my Hot Flower? Wanna go for a ride in my Muscle Machine?? We'll have some fun!!"
"What the.... Don't you dare talk to my girlfriend like that."
"Whoa!? This is the chump you're dating nowadays? Hah! You've lost taste girl!"
"Shut up John!"
"John? You know this guy?"
" The names John Konnor! I used to be her boyfriend. Remember the good times we had? The times we had going on vacations... You've grown Yumi.. You became... A woman.."
"Go away John. We broke up already."
"What? I came here to-"
"You heard her. Get out."
"Why you little..."
John punches Josh in the face. Josh is knocked out.
"JOSH!!! **** YOU JOHN!"
"Now... Time for you to come with me! Lets have some fun!"
John grabs Yumi and puts her in the Challenger.
"Let go of me you *****!"
"Not until we have fun!"
John escapes with Yumi. Josh wakes up.
"*snore* Huh.....Wha-....YUMI! I've got to chase after her!"
Josh gets in the GT-R. He floors the throttle.

"JOSH! ROUTE 5!"

"Got it. I'm not leaving you."

SLAP! John slaps Yumi. Meanwhile, in the GT-R...
"Dammit..... How do I do it? I dont want Yumi to get hurt."
"Wait, I smell engine smoke... Is the Challenger broken?"
The Challenger blows a head gasket. It leaves a trail of smoke.

"Dammit Yumi! You made me miss a shift! You broke my Challenger!"
"Save me Josh.........."
As they get on the straight, Josh pulls to the side, and hits him. He instantly losses control.

The Challenger stops. Its engine cuts, and it wont start. Josh gets Yumi out of the Challenger, and puts her in the GT-R.
"Yumi... Are you ok?"
"Yeah..."
John gets out, and tries to punch Josh.
"I'll get you for that!"
"Hah! Eat this!"
Josh give John a flying kick to the face, putting him down on the floor with a broken nose.
"OWWWW!!!! Damn you!"
"That was for hitting a girl."
"Fine.......**** you and your girlfriend.."
Josh kicks him again, knocking him out.
"Now thats for hitting MY girl."
Josh drives to a nearby parking lot.

John gets out, and tries to punch Josh.

Josh give John a flying kick to the face, putting him down on the floor with a broken nose.
"OWWWW!!!! Damn you!"
"That was for hitting a girl."

Josh kicks him again, knocking him out.

Josh gets in the Hakosuka. The S20 roars to life. The classic sound of carburetors echo throughout R246.

"Where'd this come from? Porsche 964.... Thats weird. I dont recall our family owning a Porsche."
"Wait... I actually remember something about a Porsche... When Bill was training for track days with his R32..."

Then, a white Toyota 86 stops behind Josh. Two girls in long, white coats get out.

"Good. We will plan 2 races. The highway race will be tonight, and the Touge will be tomorrow. We will be waiting for you at Route 7 at midnight. First one to reach the end of the tunnel wins. Please bring your best."

"So, anything else happen today?"
"Oh yeah, I got challenged by a group to race later. They're called the White Tails."
"White Tails? cool name. What do they drive?"
"I don't know. They just told me to bring my best. I found a letter on my car too, challenging me to a race next week."

The R34 gives out a deep sounding growl. It echos throughout the streets of Gion. Soon, they hit the wangan.

Josh puts the pedal to the metal, but Harumi's Evo IV's 4G63T engine paired with the 4WD system keeps the car stable and increases the lead.

"I slammed the inner tires into the gutter. That way, I would have more stable cornering and I won't be affected by the G forces."

"Hahaha! Of course not! I'm never scared if its Josh driving!"

They all hangout at Harumi's Mansion.

"Oh, they don't know that the Lancer Evolution is a sports car. They never even thought that my old Impreza wagon was about 300hp."

"My dad drives an Aston Martin Vantage, and my mom drives a Ferrari 458 Italia."

"They were kinda disappointed when I asked for an Evo instead of a Benz. They gave me a lot of money, so when I bought the Evolution, I used the excess money for upgrades."

"What modifications did you do to your Lancer?"
"Oh, I had the Turbo swapped out for a bigger Garrett T04, I bought a RALLIART aerokit, I managed to find a WRC-spec Anti-lag system, a RALLIART header and muffler, ARC intake and MINE'S front mount intercooler. Final power is under 470hp."
"I didn't understand anything. Haha!
"Wow.... Your Lancer must be wild."
"I think you can actually beat my Evo IX."
"Of course I can!"
Josh suddenly hears a car racing in the mountains.
"Can anyone else hear that?"
"...I can hear it.. You think its the White Tails?"
"Yeah.. Lets go."
"Good luck on your race Josh!"

"Alright! You guys go, I'll stay with Harumi first."
