Holden have discontinued the production of the 427 concept.
1 million dollars into the project it was realised by holden and hsv that costs had been a lot more than predicted due to unexpected crash testing and the cost of actually building this race spec monaro.
Holden even considered the option ofchanging the C5-R engine that pulls 420kw and 0-100 in 4secs to a chev v8 alongwith the idea of taking some of the race spec equipment out.
at a prospected price 0r $215,000 the holden quickly realised that they should have made it $300,000+ from the start.
the build limit of 50 was swallowed up within a month or 2(20,000 deposit) and others put in the waiting list.
because of this holden considered increasing the build limit in order to fund the project, but was no use as the percentage of buyers were buying the car for its originality and its one of a kind spec for an Australian car.
