Interserie required closed wheel cars. It was designed for prototypes in general, but as the series started to falter, people just got reject F1 cars and bolted arches on. It did signal a slow death for a once great series, but I always thought they looked fantastic.

It was originally a European series for Can-Am styled cars. Then it evolved into being prototypes. After that, the modified formula racers. Towards the end, they didn't allow the bolt-on arches.

That and BOSS GP started up and really put the series to it's slow death.

Overall, it was one big rolling piece of advertising irony (and somewhat genius given the type of customers they were selling to).

Could have won at Zaandvoort... but slid off so didn't. Introduced left-foot braking at an unheard of time but needed huge brakes to offset the lack of engine braking.

I suspect this was Robby Gordon's Hummer prototype before its time... The fuel economy is similar, if anything. On the plus side, given how the LM002 was built, it could withstand a sandstorm and keep on trucking regardless.
