Apparently, China has reported the first animal-to-human transmission of H3N8 and indicates the spread to humans is considered low. It's worth noting though that China indicated something similar during the early days of COVID. So what's the conspiracy? Honestly, I think China might be attempting to cover up another outbreak, especially with how strict they're in lockdown mode right now. While I can't link them due to the AUP, there are numerous videos out there of people in white overalls donned in PPE basically beating people, forcing them inside their homes, and even putting them in makeshift "prisons" in and around Shanghai. I saw a video the other day where people were being forced into shipping containers in order to quarantine. Obviously, I can't authenticate these videos but they do seem pretty convincing and on par with what China would do.

So what I'm curious about is whether or not H3N8 is spreading far more rapidly to humans and is China disguising it as COVID measures? Or is COVID really that bad in China right now? I know the answer to these questions can't really be found due to the lack of info we get out of China (and the info we do get isn't reliable).

The Alex Jones mess gets even better, as it turns out that his lawyer didn't just send the opposing council a dump of his phone, but rather documents totally around 300GB, that's not a typo, of which the text messages were only a part of it, it may have actually been the entire defence case file. Oh and it's not just the phone that other law agencies and the Jan 6th Committee want, it's all of it.

This came out in the court hearing about how the incident came to be, so if you want to watch both Jones, and then his lawyer get burnt, settle in, it's well worth the watch.

The “Satanic Panic” was a conspiracy theory that really took hold among a certain kind of Christian in the 1980s. Perfectly innocent people were accused of ritualistic child abuse, bad behavior was blamed on the devil, and the modern-day witch hunt ruined countless lives. No evidence ever proved this organized abuse was occurring—certainly not the way accusers insisted it was—but as with so many conspiracy theories, its power had nothing to do with the facts.

Conspiracy theories have never gone away, obviously, but as NBC News’ Brandy Zadrozny writes in a truly disturbing article, the more recent versions of right-wing, religious conspiracy theories are taking pages from the Satanic Panic handbook.
The belief that devil-worshippers disguised as trusted members of the community are stalking neighborhood children to abuse and sacrifice them in secret satanic rituals is more prevalent than one might imagine.

In one case, Zadrozny writes, a prosecuting attorney for Utah County lost an election at least in part because of false accusations of “murdering or cannibalizing young children,” a direct nod to the stereotypes about Satanism.

It’s not just that Republican politicians or right-wing propagandists are citing Satan as if he’s a real person, or that preachers like Greg Locke are insisting demons exist and conducting actual literal witch hunts. It’s that people who don’t even believe in Satan are getting caught up in the backlash against Satanism.

You may recall that over the summer, a Boston man was arrested for attempting to burn down the headquarters of The Satanic Temple (which is non-theistic).
“The satanic panic mongers have always loved the idea that we’re harassing children or otherwise harming them,” [The Satanic Temple co-founder Lucien Greaves] said. “And that whatever they do against us is justified in the name of preserving the children.”

Greaves said demonization by the religious right is predictable, but he is concerned about what feels like the creeping normalization of satanic-panic-style beliefs in the mainstream or even progressive culture.

“Moral panics don’t really take off when they can be brushed off as being a hysterical evangelical or right-wing talking point,” he said.

In that sense, the most unusual thing about the modern Satanic Panic is that Satan isn’t even the focal point anymore. It’s just the terminology conservatives and Christians use to rail against everything they don’t like. Drag queens? Tools of Satan. Alleged child trafficking? The work of the devil. Joe Biden’s recent pro-democracy speech? Channeling Lucifer.

It doesn’t matter if we’re talking about QAnon or FOX. The script is virtually identical. Just literally demonize your opponent and whip the base into a frenzy. If innocent people get caught up in the backlash, so what?
Social media can also power new accusations, launch police investigations and invite harassment or worse upon the accused who have little recourse to defend themselves.

On July 1, police in South Windsor, Connecticut, announced that they were reopening an investigation into allegations of sexually explicit crimes against several members of the community. Those allegations had come from TikTok — where a 25-year-old woman named Haley Garcia, who lives in California, posted a video naming her parents and seven others as part of an “elite network” that had done “many ritualistic satanic things” to her and other children years ago.

There was no evidence of any of that. But the accusations helped Garcia win a lot of free publicity for her burgeoning spiritual coaching business.

Conspiracies don’t just end when the facts are known. The problem with the Satanic Panic is that no matter how many bad faith actors use Satan as a metaphor for what they hate, there are many pastors who spend every week convincing their congregations that Satan is real and needs to be eradicated from their lives. They’ll never admit they’re lying because they genuinely don’t believe they are. As long as that belief perpetuates in churches, it’s next to impossible to convince people that Satan and the abuse associated with Satan are entirely fictional.

That means, much like sin itself, conservative Christians have invented their own problem out of thin air while presenting themselves as the only solution. Republicans are all too happy to go along with it because fear has always been a tool that unites the people who vote for them.

While this might be a coincidence, and there are other factors at play, it makes me wonder how truthful China's timeline is on the COVID-19 outbreak and how much they tried to cover it up.

I don't read it and based on searching media bias charts, it sits right of center, and its political leanings appear to be similar to that of the Wall Street Journal. So decent enough reporting of news with a biased slant regarding editorals and opinion pieces. It's why I said reliable enough though and why I posted it in this thread opposed to the COVID thread. I don't doubt there's bias and slant in the article, however I do think it brings up a point that deserves more in-depth analysis.

I still believe China knew about SARS-CoV-2 long before December 2019, and it was circulating as early as the summer of 2019. However, since there isn't a way to categorically prove that and China seems to have little interest in being honest about the virus's origin, it's pretty much just a conspiracy theory at this point.

I wasn't speaking in regard to the piece in particular, as I'm not going to give them either clicks or money, more of them as a source. are they Daily Mail bad? Nope, but they are still quite a way from what I would call reliable.

I don't doubt that in knowing about Covid, but it's relevant to note that one of the, it's from Chinese lab, peddlers was the Telegraph.

The Clintons are mentioned as likely candidates because for one thing, Bill Clinton made several dozen trips with Epstein even though he admits to four or so. For another, there is a very long list of people who died under mysterious circumstances who had information detrimental to the Clintons. Many of these are suicides where the victim was shot in the back of the head.

What's more, the idea that the Clintons are obviously responsible for a supposed Epstein homicide instead of, say, Trump is absurd.

There's a great deal of photographic evidence of the Trump/Epstein relationship and Trump, who has admitted on videotape to inappropriate behavior with women and has been accused of even more inappropriate behavior with younger females made possible by his pageant dealings, previously referred to the scum bucket Epstein as a "terrific guy" and acknowledged Epstein's...erm...preferences.

With significant cronyism, it's not pure chance that Trump assigned Alex "Secret Sex Lips" Acosta--who as a civil servant gave Epstein a sweetheart deal--as Labor Secretary. And the falling-out that Donald and Jeffrey are supposed to have had? Well, it's not a stretch to think of the former as being unwilling to share and perhaps Epstein called him on it.

Of course nothing's going to come out connecting Trump to Epstein's death or sexual activities with minors while Barr is overseeing things.

That's how conspiracy theories work. You take established truths and believable rumors to make absurdities seem possible, and then you allege coverups to preemptively shut down criticism of the theory. Unfortunately it works.

The Oklahoma City Bombing has always been a bit strange to me, but the official story made sense on some level. I also knew more about Terry Nichols than any of the other's involved since he was from Michigan, specifically an area about 30 miles north of where I grew up so it was huge news at the time. However, with Sgt Terry Yeakey, a lot of what's being said calls into question some things that happened that day.

Whatever you believe though, this story that showed up on CNN is rather interesting.

The only conspiracy is that the last time the 49ers and Chiefs played in the Super Bowl a global pandemic shut the world down. Also, we're going to be forced to watch the Santa Clara Miners and KC Swifties instead of the Detroit Lions and Baltimore Ravens like God intended.
