Initial D is realistic and what they do in the anime can some times be achieved in real life
Only if you are talking about Iketani's drifts. ;)

Like I said before, touge drifting is not about speed, it's about style. Belive me, you will never beat a Skyline drifting with an 86(or any other car) unless the Skyline driver is a beginner. Shigeno made the anime that way so he could make it interesting to people that haven't heard of drifting before(judging by the numbers of "takumi-posts" in this forum you can tell that he succeded ;))

But basically one could say that almost everything in Initial D is realistic, except for the speeds. Even the gutter thing is possible, but with totally diferent(and non-desirable) results.

Still a good anime, I enjoyed watching it, but it's an ANIME dammit! People shouldn't take it too serious or soon they will find themselves going into military bases looking for a Gundam. ;)

True dat! but as u should noe, the Skyline doesn't drift at all.. ;D

Yeah that TopGear guy loves to fishtails all the cars he tests... He should have done with the McLaren F1 too. ;)

In the above post I was meaning that, drifting WITH an 86(or any other car), you would never be able to win against an Skyline "gripping", unless the driver is a beginner.

But for the matter of fact, the Skyline GTS-T is FR and one hell of a good drifter.

Yes I loved the McLaren test!
He was so expressive about the car's massive acceleration.

Have you seen the Noble (M12?) test drive? He was seriously drifting every single turn on the track! and beautifully too. It was because the car "loves to oversteer" I think was his words. Awesome! :mischievous:

Skylines do drift there are videos of them drifting at www.racingflix.com (in burnouts secyions, you have to be a member) if you have a GT-S rear wheel drive skyline.Yes I agree with all of your opinions except for the no skiyline drift.Have you not seen any of the Option vids, there IS on of a AE86 VS a stock skyline in a drift comp.

Yes, like I said in the post above the GTS-T is a very good car for drifting although it's not as popular as others cars, mainly because of the price and the weight.

A skyline and a AE86 which would win?

DrifterBR, I do not exactly agree with you, nor disagree for that part. It really boils down to the driver, course, and too many other variables. I was doing a search on Kazaa the other day for Initial D and came u[ with an interesting videos that was titled along the lines of skyline vs 2 ae86 - somthing like that. You should check it out and everyone else should too that is interested.

I've seen that clip Mazda,it's of a Skyline vs 2 AE86s,one is an "original" AE86 if you must and the other is called a "Boss" AE86,or maybe it's just the Mecha-Tuned (equivelent to the Shigeno Version on GT3) and at first the Skyline beats them, but then the AE86s catch up,and oh look, the Skyline ends up in last ^_^ (if I remember correctly, the Mecha-Tuned one wins, but not too sure..I haven't seen it in like over 4 months =P,hehe)

AE86Driver

P.S. yes,it is something quite interesting to check out!if I'm correct,I believe that clip comes from Best Motoring or somethin' like that..but not too sure

That is a dope clip too watch, actually I think it was the under-powered AE that won it. I gotta re-dl it to make sure, but it goes to show, it is not power, cornering, or the car that wins, it is the driver that does it.

Yeah, I'm kid of skeptical about that. I don't think, given all the drivers were equal skill, that would happen. I mean, c'mon, 160ps is really really damn slow.

IMO, they falsified the result.

they falsified the result.

well, I didn't see any cuts in the video to make it look like it has
been tampered with. I don't exactly see how they can falsify results where you actually see the three cars on the road and no cuts in it. Unless or course I saw something that never existed.

yeah,no kiddin'..I mean, not too be rude dude, but as much as I like the Trueno (and Skyline for that matter) it'd be kinda hard to believe that a Skyline was beat by a Trueno, but then again..I also wouldn't go lookin' down on lower-horsepowered cars that are so called "slow".You know what I'm sayin' dude?

AE86Driver

Of course, handling is very important.

Nevertheless it is just a show, and "easing off the gas a bit" in the Skyline isn't too hard to do. I'm not really accusing them of anything... it's just hard to swallow.

miata13B: I've seen that video too. First, the AE86 was not drifting, second, the driver of the less powered 86 is a professional GT driver, while the other two are just beginners(The Skyline driver is the worst, the other one at least knew how to heel 'n toe).

I agree that handling is very important, and the Skyline has enough to beat the crap out of any 86 in a REAL race.

nothing against these cartoons at all....
I really just dont understand how sum1 can can idolize or indeed run their life by a cartoon. this is of course including getting an old corolla gt cause it is in a cartoon, then claiming it to be the best car ever...

oh well, I aint gonna read all these post.
maybe its just me.
**I aint saying that the cartoons are bad***

dude, its not a cartoon.. its an anime.. animez are different cartoons.....
cartoons are..... (for some reason) gay
animes are cool IMO

both are hand drawn animated pictures.....

cartoon = animated drawn pictures
anime= animated drawn pictures

i see no difference :P
;)

No Ving, there IS a difference!

anime: animated draw pictures made in Japan.
cartoon: animated draw pictures made in somewhere else.

Still, there's no reason to "idolize or indeed run their life by" like ving said. I've never seen someone who watched Kenshin wanting to buy a sakabatou, but I've seen lot's of people wanting a Trueno just because they saw Takumi's mad drifting. Some people are indeed going insane!
