Reminds me of the Interstellar Marines game - they hung back (pre-crowd-funding) waiting for backing and when they got there their great looking game had been caught up with and passed by others. I hope it goes well for The Last Guardian though, as it has been a long time in coming....However the graphics don't look like they have worn the test of time well, does look like an early PS3 game.
Interested in your impressions GTPers, it's getting good reviews but won't pay 60$ for a title that I feel I won't like.
The thing that annoys me most of all is the screen prompts (graphic of DS4, tells you to pick up item or pull lever etc). The thing I liked most about ICO was the complete 100% lack of HUD, it was what drew me into that world. If I can't turn these annoying pop ups off, I won't want to play it. The character animation looks very awkward as well, & several reviewers have said that controlling the boy is clumsy.
Regarding the screen prompts, yes I agree those are annoying. Haven't got my copy yet so I can't verify, but unfortunately it doesn't sound like they can be turned off. UPDATE: Copy arrived. No options to turn off prompts in the menu... hopefully they patch one in.
Saw that the game only scored 7/10 on IGN, avoided watching the review though to avoid spoilers. But they also gave Owlman AKA yet another 2D retro pixelfest 9.2 or something, so whatevs.
There's nothing wrong with 2D, retro and/or pixelfests... or are we gonna sling mud at The Last Guardian for a 3D modern polyfest?
Besides, Owlboy has a 91 on Opencritic, so it sounds like IGN wasn't off their rocker... at least relative to other critics. Haven't played it myself, so I can't comment on whether its universal praise is warranted.![]()
I don't have a PS4 yet (going to try and get a Pro before GT Sport comes out) but I've been watching Jackcepticeye's play through and I have to say the thing that impresses me the most so far is the movement of the creature. Really smooth and fluid, it's incredible.
