No, read the article properly. This car is a Lola, designed by Lola and nothing to do with Peugeot.
The article says Lotus had originally hired the 908 designer to design a car for them but they've decided not do that (probably due to the immense costs involved to develop a brand new car from scratch) and instead just buy a Lola like every other team.

Once again, Lotus is barely involved at all in this deal. The car is a Lola (as supplied to several other LMP1 and LMP2 teams), the engine is a Judd (which as the article says is a developed BMW engine) and the team is a german outfit ran by Colin Kolles.
Lotus is once again simply sponsoring the team and paying to re-badge the engine and name the entry as "Lotus".

Oh well, still interested in the team and Lolas are still cool. I didn't know P2 was trending toward closed-cockpit cars. Probably because the class was basically non-existent in ALMS last season, and we saw much more of the PC Oreca FLM09.

Maybe they were more prevalent in the European series? Which we got much less access to over here in states, unfortunately. If no one was running a feed it almost seemed impossible to catch a glimpse anywhere.

They're already using it on their Formula 1 cars as a tribute to the old John Player Special liveries of the 1980s. It's also going to show up on the GP2, GP3 and Indycar cars that they sponsor. And possibly any other teams (there has been talk of GT and WRC entries) that they fund.
 
Why does Lotus need to get the name out so much? Are their new cars even released yet? As of now, they have not much to advertise... Where did all of the money come from anyways?

About Lotus sponsoring everything, well it's all originally Dany Bahar's idea. He's using Proton's and Malaysian money to pay all the motorsports activities. To make it simpler, out tax money all gone down to Dany Bahar for his ambitious motorsport activities that could backfire anytime...

As of now they're like a more exotic version of Porsche round these parts. Everyone who has one just owns an elise haha. I see them around once and a while in Tampa. However I have NEVER seen anyone drive an evora in real life, ever. And I've seen ONE Esprit, owned by a professor at USF, from what I'm told.

My favorite was the elise with a bike rack on top that I saw at the park. If your priority is mountain biking and you can afford a lotus...for the love of god, get an SUV that you don't mind scratching up.

I think the bikes were bigger than the car LOL.

P.S. I'm sorry if you're a football fan or player. Still love the bulls, but that season hurt in the butt.

I'm not into college sports, I like the professionals more.
 
Wow, that Lotus is stunning. Loving the black and gold colors, really compliment each other. I still don't have an LMP1 team to go for though, not after Peugeot left. I'm hoping that will change though, as the 908's were my favorite LMP in this modern age.

Can't wait for the announcement of the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Sadly I'll be at school, but I know which thread I'm looking at first thing I come home!

As I always speak out, Dome is not interested in or proud of strategy or techniques to manage the 24-hour long race because we are a racecar constructor. Le Mans 24 Hours is an endurance race indeed, but what Dome aims is the speed in the qualifying sessions in which the true performance of the racecars is tested. [...] Following the policy of ours, we have asked Pescarolo to cancel the 24 hour test Pescarolo had originally planned but have asked to have as many short tests as possible during which we will develop and set-up the car. I am pretty certain the guys in the French squad are shocked to know how we prepare for the 24-hour race, though...

That’s how we have ended up with the very egoistic programme for the 2012 Le Mans 24 Hours.
