The start of the race was a joke, safety car stayed out but they still started the races and then carnage ensued. ~5 cars out.

What Duffers is talking about...

Major miscommunication problems with the race personnel, maybe?

Does anyone know if Highcroft Racing is participating in Long Beach? I'm a big fan after the 12 hours race. Very skillful driving and impressive placing over some of those LMP monsters.

It's listed on the schedule of their Web site. http://www.highcroftracing.com/schedule/

I am pretty sure they are a full season ALMS team.

I was sure they weren't doing it, considering the car is up for sale.

Connecticut-based American Le Mans Series team Highcroft Racing is gearing up to race its new HPD ARX-01e LMP1 prototype in Europe in addition to its assault on this year's 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Team owner Duncan Dayton has revealed that there is a good chance that the LMP1 contender, which finished second in its race debut at the 12 Hours of Sebring last month, will contest a number of Le Mans Series events in Europe. He said that discussions are ongoing as Highcroft works to put a program together for 2011 in the wake of the loss of title sponsor Tequila Patrón.

“We are interested in taking the car over to Europe for some more races,” he said, “but ultimately, whoever is paying the bills will decide where we go and race.

“HPD is very keen to get one of its LMP1 cars over there in Europe to show what it can do. It would like to sell some of the cars out in Europe.”

Dayton said there is no decision yet on which LMS rounds the car might compete in. Highcroft might struggle to get an entry for the races that also count toward the Intercontinental Le Mans Cup.

Asked if it was certain whether Highcroft will accept its entry invitation for Le Mans in June, Dayton said, “I would say so. I think you can take it as read that we will be there.”

Highcroft began its preparations for the French enduro at Sebring the week after the 12 Hours. It put another 12 hours of running on the ARX-01e over two days with Marino Franchitti and Jonny Kane, who races the Strakka HPD in the LMS, sharing the driving duties.
If so, they want to sell some of the HPD ARX-01e models to be raced in Europe. Not selling their car.

I dunno, there's an HPD ad in Autosport mag that says 'this model is now available' directly after talking about the car finishing 2nd at Sebring. I wasn't aware they were going to sell any customer versions of this new P1 car.

I also wasn't sure as they didn't bother to keep Brabs for the whole season, and I hadn't seen anything confirmed for the ALMS.

You should probably keep in mind they lost their Patron sponsorship, so there may have been a lot of stuff up in the air.

Also, pay attention to the language of that ad. They are trying to sell their models. It doesn't mean that car precisely. Without seeing the ad I would guess that is what it was saying.

I know now, it's just I suppose I naivley thought they wouldn't be selling this model and were only seeling the P2 to car with the 2.8l twin turbo V6 (like they did to RMl and Strakka). Probably because I don't think many people buy customer LMP1's, as alot of new to LMP1 teams this year are using upgraded P2's.

Will their be a web stream of it?

I have always wanted to watch the 24h but it has never been televised here.

justin.tv has streams of everything. Sometimes it is hard to find a stream in English, but I'm pretty sure ESPN3's stream will be available.

If you're talking about ALMS I'm fairly sure ESPN bought the exclusive rights to stream the races on EPSN3 or ABC. I could be wrong but I don't believe there would be any other legitimate streams (unless illegal such as justin.tv or something).

This is unfortunate for us PS3 users, as ESPN and Microsoft seem to be bumping uglies, making it nearly impossible to watch the races on my television.

Does anyone know where to find a list of the cars/drivers in the Long Beach race. The ALMS website is atrocious IMHO. Can't seem to navigate it properly...

Presuming you're referring to the 24 Hours of Le Mans - It has been broadcast, quite extensively, in Australia for the last two years on ONE and I presume there will be coverage again this year too.

Le Mans 24 Hours will be on eurosport in the uk again I reckon this year.

What they're talking about...
LMP1: 2 entries
LMP2: 2 entries
LMPC: 6 entries
GT: 14 entries
GTC: 7 entries
-------------------
Total = 31 entries

Anyone know what's going on with the broadcast of the GP of Long Beach? According to ALSM.com, ESPN3 will broadcast it at 3:15PM, Eastern. But on ESPN3.com, it says they will broadcast the GP of Long Beach from 7:15 - 8:00PM. Just 45 minutes. Anyone know why? And if so, what's the real time?

I hope they get this straightened out. From what I understand it's gonna be 7:15 pm and will show the whole 2 hours. But I was a bit confused as well.

Maybe the 3:15 is the sunday replay time on espn2?

Since it is in California, 7:15 would make sense for Easterners being that it is more of an evening race. So the start time makes sense. Lets hope ESPN3 doesn't cut it off at 8 o'clock.

It looks like something got jumbled and the qualifying and race times got mixed together. This is what I see now:

So who's everyone interested in following for this race?

I'm definitely keeping an eye on Chris Dyson, Oliver Gavin, the Flying Lizard guys, Beamers and 458s (competizione, TP). There are others that look promising as well. I can't wait!

It definitely looks like more of a GT battle at this point. Which is fine with me :)

Thanks for clearing that up FoolKiller.

Anyway, I'll be following the Corvettes and Fly Lizards, and in LMP, The Dyson Mazda and the Muscle Milk Aston.
