Only GM was keen (thus the windtunnel model you will find pictures of if you google Corvette LMP1) and everyone else was against it....quite sad really as those cars would be impossible to put a BHF and BHHs on and would be faster than todays P1s.

I never saw it. You know what would be cool? If someone like GM or Zak Brown brought the Chaparal name back In the P1 class! That would be amazing

This. Looks the same as everything else out there pretty much.

Probably because that's what works?

I don't know how many of you remember just how fast the TS020 was when it was entered for the very first time in the 1998 Le Mans race. I wouldn't be surprised if Toyota came up with some nifty ideas of their own this year.

nitrorocks
You never know.........he owns most of United Autosport and he's American

And? He's a smart man and knows the golden rule of racing: to make a small fortune in racing first you must start with a large one. And do you know the best way to go racing for the longest amount of time? Race an existing car instead of throwing money at starting or reviving an old brand and building an all new car. He won't do it also mainly because he's not a teenager and doesn't get ideas that don't make financial sense....

Just looking at it it appears Toyota has found the holy grail, low drag and high downforce.

Oreca - "Shame we have to chuck away this 908 tub, sucks that Peugeot don't want us to run a car anymore."
Toyota - "Er, hey, can we have a look at that tub before you throw it away?"
Oreca - "Let us run your cars and you've got a deal."

Really sad about Peugeot... They have 3-4 Awesome cars that are only a year old...

I want one! I sooo want to buy a 908.

agree. Although they could use a more menacing paint scheme. Because im pretty sure that car has a few tricks up its sleave.

I guess the question is answered about it being called a Lexus or a Toyota although it was hardly debatable.

I'm not digging the White and Red either.

I already miss the Blue and Black of Peugeot.

Peugeot used to have white and red and black before their current mostly blue livery. Toyota has mostly always been white and red also. Oh well, I love it.

The paint scheme will most definitely be different. Remember, we don't know anything about this car as of yet. The original F1 test car Toyota ran before they entered in 2002 had a similar paint scheme:

And here's how the paint scheme actually looked in 2002:

But I wouldn't mind if they're going for something much like the TS010 race car:

I'm very exited to see Toyota back into racing! 👍

This Toyota LMP looks far prettier than the R18.

Hopefully the fuel size restriction for diesels allow for a more even playing field.

But I won't be surprised if Toyota manages to get a podium finish.

I really don't understand the Delta Wing... I wish Highcroft would have just stuck with the HPD...

Yeah really! that project is utter nonsense. whether they fail or suceed nothing will come of the delta wing, Its not technically innovative aside from the odd shape/low weight. Its not like the Delta Wing will become the next big thing either.....

They might have bitte taste from there LMP2 run two years ago when Strakka racing absolutely dominated from landing in France till the chequered flag! That was a world class run from strakka!.

This is why I am particularly enthused by the Strakka effort. When Strakka runs they run flatout guns blazing(annyone else drooling to see Danny Watts qualify the Strakka car at Sebring)?(Talk about man on a mission!)....Much like Le Mans 2009.:)

I really like the Toyota LMP, those headlights, the red/white livery. I'm digging the whole package. Would love to see Toyota score a podium finish.

DeltaWang is just shameful....I'd much rather see the Porsche 918 RSR run at Le Mans this year (mostly because I'm going this year).

I love how many people suddenly forgot why Highcroft couldn't continue with HPD. Once you struggle with sponsorship and the Manufacterer decides to pull the plug, what else are you to do?

As for the Deltawing:

The radical design of the DeltaWing is meant to attract leading technology companies back to motorsport to investigate on new ideas to tackle fuel efficiency, and thus to gain attention from the public into the sport.

Kinda think everyone is overreacting abit to the Deltawing. Its just a one-off, nothing more nothing less.

A lot of discussion going on about Delta Wing last year.. Still figuring out how would that car steer without being massively understeering? I could see a GT car steer a whole lot better than that. I really am interested to see how this 'bedroom plaything' works...
