UP THE IRONS !!!
I mostly listen to heavy metal, but i like instrumental rock/metal!

I've recently started re-listening to Prog Metal. I mean, I've been listening to many bands like Cynic and Dream Theater for a long time, but lately I've been exploring much more into the genre.

Bands like Coprofago, Continuo Renacer, Solstice, Anomaly, Pain of Salvation and Death. Anyone like/heard any?

some of my faves at the momment:
-Opeth ( 👍 )
-Children Of Bodom
-In Flames
-Lamb Of God
-As I lay Dying
-Project: failing flesh

there are ALOT more I listen too, but these I'm just listening to alot more recently.

Has anyone heard of Forever Slave? It's a female fronted goth metal band from Spain. Nightwish is thinking of replacing their singer with the singer from Forever Slave. I think she'd go awesome with Nightwish.

Can we Have a guitar player club? Whose up for it, I don't mind starting it myself. But I gotta see who wants in.

I believe there's a guitar player thread or something like that. Use the search function, I know there are many good guitar players on GTP.

ITR, never heard of that band. Most Spanish bands that sing in english suck, since the Spanish accent is so strong, so I'm a little skeptic on it now.

There's not a heavy accent as far as I can tell..

Where is the singer for Nightwish going? This is news to me.

They fired her because according to the other band members she wasn't spending enough time with the band and too much with her husband. I think her husband said something bad about the band, too.

Being A Nightwish fan I'm going to have to agree with you. I have always liked them but often thought the lead singer was a little bit to "opera-ish"

Wow. Dragonforce. Wow. pretty rad stuff. I envy their guitarist..
AGREED!👍 Herman Li is my hero!

How about we call it "crap" and get back to listening to Opeth?
WORD! :D

If you guys like the female fronted "goth metal" bands, check out "Epica" as well:tup:

Metallica is my best metal band! I also like Faith No More, Skid Row, Sepultura, Anthrax, Slayer, Cinderella, Slipknot, The Cult, Guns N Roses, Pantera, Def Leopard, Poison, ACDC and Blindspot (NZ music represent)!

Will check it out.

Hey Diego, do you know any bands that sound similar to Sirenia? I like their style of vocals(both male and female).

I tried Lacuna Coil, but they're not that great.

Sirenia... hmm... both "operatic" male and female?

I'll have to check out my collection here. I'm off to a jazz concert at the moment, but I'll check it out tomorrow. I like Lacuna Coil a lot, though.

I'm also checking out "clear-voiced" prog for that other thread.

Maybe not both in the same band. I think that would be hard to find. Wait operatic? If you listen to Star-Crossed, On The Wane, and In My Darkest Hours, maybe you can see what I like. I like how the male and female vocals work together. I'm not concerned about the choir.

heh...Don't lose any sleep over it. "clear-voiced" or softer death vocals

Right. I went over some of my music, and although I'm still on the A, I have a few suggestions. Keep in mind, these are the bands I like (they're in my permanent collection):

- Adagio: Similar to Dream Theater but heavier, with harder riffs and more double bass drums.
- Age of Silence: More melodic than Adagio and it also has more than one singer, although they're all male.
- Anata: Dark/Black metal but with no grunting. Actually, with no vocals, it's instrumental.
- Andromeda: Similar to Dream Theater but with much more use of keyboards and less instrumental parts of the songs.
- Augury: Dark/Black metal. Male and female vocals. The woman sings normally while the guy mainly grunts.
- Ayreon: Very clean and melodic male voice. Thinking back, I think you recommended this band before.

Hope this short list helps... I'll let you know of other bands once I get on the B and further.
