Diego440Right. I went over some of my music, and although I'm still on the A, I have a few suggestions. Keep in mind, these are the bands I like (they're in my permanent collection):
- Adagio: Similar to Dream Theater but heavier, with harder riffs and more double bass drums.
- Age of Silence: More melodic than Adagio and it also has more than one singer, although they're all male.
- Anata: Dark/Black metal but with no grunting. Actually, with no vocals, it's instrumental.
- Andromeda: Similar to Dream Theater but with much more use of keyboards and less instrumental parts of the songs.
- Augury: Dark/Black metal. Male and female vocals. The woman sings normally while the guy mainly grunts.
- Ayreon: Very clean and melodic male voice. Thinking back, I think you recommended this band before.
Hope this short list helps... I'll let you know of other bands once I get on the B and further.

George MorleyFor Woman Fronted Metal, try Arch Enemy, the song, My Acopalypse is good although theres a strange effect on the voice.
My favourite metal bands are Metallica and Avenged Sevenfold mainly for their 6 minuite peices of perfection.

I have "Inner Circle" It's ok, but I havent really listened to enough of their music to make an opinion of the band.speedy_samuraiChecked out the new Evergrey disc today, 'Monday Morning Apocalypse.' It's Evergrey. The next step from Inner Circle I suppose, but not as good as the earlier stuff. Seems to be more pop-metal broken hearted, good-bye to my girl, type stuff now.
PottsehSweet. A metal thread. Joining GTP's forums seems like an even better idea now...
I'm into just about every form of metal. Mostly death metal. The progressive stuff is a close second. Though from reading a few pages of the thread, it doesn't seem like too many people are into the brutal stuff... which I can understand. But eh.![]()
Diego440It's going to be kind of hard to find death metal fans here.
PottsehDamn. What is it that turns people off from it? Any ideas/thoughts?
I'll have to check it out. They're one of the rare metalcore bands I can listen to. 👍[FPV]Rustyanyone heard the upcoming All That Remains album "The Fall of Ideals". Possibly one of the better metal releases of the year
I myself am a huge melodeath fan, but only have a handful of death metal stuff. And most of those are from death-turned-melodeath bands (ala Hypocrisy) I just got the whole discography of. I find death metal too blunt and boring with just mindless drum beats and monotone vocals (from what I've heard), whereas melodeath has much better composition and variety IMO.PottsehDamn. I will say Bloodbath are pretty damn good though.
My opinion is based primarily on early Hypocrisy and early Amorphis material. Although I have heard albums from a few other death metal outfits, such as Kataklysm and Bolt Thrower. I don't mind growlers (Mikael Akerfeldt is probably my all-time favourite metal vocalist), but with death metal they don't seem to alter their voice much. It's just the same deep tone the whole time, no variation. The same goes for the rhythm - just repetive drumming and fast riffing. No variation again.PottsehI guess it's just personal taste, then.. Bloodbath are a great band - both of their lineups - though, which bands are you listening to with monotone vocals?!There are some great vocalists out there. Then again, I guess it's personal taste again.
