Good for you, but just not my cup of tea. 👍

VipFREAK -- Welcome to Metal. What sort of Metal have you started out with? I started with Heavy and Thrash: my first band was Slayer. I then got into bands like Sepultura and Pantera, and then I went heavier and faster until I hit as heavy and fast as you can go.

Sorry, I just can't stand them... Just terrible...

Ditto.
Ditto.

In other news, Metallica are going into Warner Bros Recording Studios for their next album in Spring (Northern Hemisphere Spring) 2005. I really hope this is their last album.

I think it's about time for a Greatest Hits CD myself too. However, they might suprise us and pull something out of their arse, going back to the good ol' pre-black days. 👍

Well, I'm hoping that Slayer will pull something out of their ass with their up-comnig album, seeing they have their old (better) drummer back. Personally, I don't think Metallica will surprise us. Their day is over, and Slayer's just might be too if they can't produce something special.

I really hope you never say that again. Metallica is still the best band ever and them quitting would suck MAJORLY. Metallica should make 20 more albums!

Hey silvia, about Otep. The female vocalist can sing just as good as a thrash metal vocalist, huh? And that both of their albums are of excellent quality? Hmm...

20 more albums?... Seeing how the quality of Metalica's albums has steadily declined since the black album, I don't think that's a very good idea... By the time they reach the end of their career they will sound like a mix between Linkin Park and Shanana (I think I'm dating myself a bit with that statement)...

I think most people would agree that Metalica hit their peak pre-black album... It's been all downhill from there...

Otep (lead singers actual name) has a groul that is so evil it will make you wet yourself... Download the song "Blood Pigs" and see what you think... I think the drummer is fantastic (very precise) and the guitar work is also pretty technical... I have yet to check out their new album, but I have heard the song "Warpath" which I liked...

I see....

Besides Technical Metal, are you also into Technical Hardcore?

Sure, I like some of it... I'm just not really into Grindcore...

Open your eyes. Black album was Metallica's last decent album. You may like the other albums, but if you can say that they are still great to this day, and that they should make more albums, with a straight face, you belong in an institution. Metallica need to call it quits soon. Their reputation was decent until St. Anger.

Also, that Otep singer freaks me out. Female growling doesn't sink down well.

Tech Metal is a great genre. Devolved rule this genre for me.

Also, just a question. Would you guys call Fear Factory and Mnemic Industrial Metal? I was having a discussion about this with Shannon, and it stumped me. I came to the conclusion Industrial Death Metal, but we both hate all of this genre-mixing, so I narrowed it to Industrial.

Otep Rules! My favorite song (uh make it Music Video as well) is War Head, and Blood Pigs.

Besides the DVD, I think the new album will kick ass. Waiting for both now.

Metallica really isn't the best band ever, Slayer is (IMO), But they do kick ass, one of my ten fav. bands. I don't think they need to make 20 albums, maybe one more if its like Master of Puppets or Ride the Lightning, their newer stuff sucks.
This just proofs that the 80's ruled in music.

How bout Motorhead? Those guys kick insane amounts of ass still to this day.
Yeah, motorhead rules. My fav. song is Iron Fist and Love for Sale.. THey are also one of my fav. bands

Anybody going to this years Jagermeister Tour? [Slayer - Killswitch Engage - Mastadon], I'm going Dec. 10.

I do not know about Mnemic but Fear Factory is definitely Industrial Metal.
Mnemic are VERY similar to Fear Factory. They are rip-offs. Fear Factory is heavier, too. Therefore they would both be Industrial.

I hear a new Nile album is set for release this month.
Ill be getting it.
Other than that this is one of my usual useless posts.

Hey that's not useless. For some reason, I haven't heard this. Mind linking me to where you found this out?

Thanks.

I'm not going to make it into a thread, hopefully, I'll get some conversation going in my Slayer thread.

On saturday, my family went to an outdoor swap-meet in Tukwila, WA. I bought some cd player from some dude [since all my other cd players were not working anymore]. The dude let me tried it with a Van Halen cd in it, after trying it he gave me the cd...[sorry for the stupid crap].....

anyways, what kind of rock/metal is Van Halen? (they sounded cool).

I don't know how I didn't realise you lived in Seattle... I live an hour north of you... I'm down in Seattle all the time...

A lot of people just label them as just generic Rock. If you're desperate to pigeon hole them, they'd probably fit into Hard Rock. Me, I just tagged my Van Halen files as the former.

Load and Reload are some of my favorite albums. the stuff from the 80's was the best, but you can't say that they sucked ass after Black album. St. Anger was horrible, Worst album I ever bought, but S&M Garage Inc. And Load/Reload were awesome. And I still listen to them reguarally. I would like to see a new album, because Metallica is getting more creative. I liked how in Load/Reload they experimented with different types of music. You can not say "Hero Of The Day" sucks. It is one of my favorite songs. It is where you can see Metallica is not like other metal bands and are willing to try different things. Garage Inc. had some really cool covers. like Whiskey In THe jar. And Die,Die,Die My Darling, which you wouldn't appreciate since it was origionally by the Misfits. But Todays metal bands are not really up to par with the vets. (Metallica, Anthrax, MegaDeath, Motley Crue, ect. ect.)

But anywho..... Does anyone like Superjoint Ritual? They are awesome. And I think there should be more bands like Atreyu. Lamb Of God is awesome too. And I think that Slipknot is way underrated.
