I didn't like Lacuna Coil much,

Funny, it was actually Lacuna Coil the band that got me into gothic metal. Tristania is quite good as well, especially the Midwinter Tearsalbum.

If you're looking for something similar to Rhapsody, I'd also suggest Demons & Wizards and Dragonforce... just a couple of bands that didn't get mentioned. Coram Lethe is also a good band, although kind of grindcore with grunts, shrills and operatic chorus.

As for Cradle of Filth, I only like Sway, and it's because I know what the lyrics are about. The rest just sounds as a more violent Limp Bizkit. I sometimes enjoy similar Slipknot and Stone Sour, but it's just for a little while. When I was younger there wasn't any metalcore or coregrind or whoopdycore or whatever. Whichever bands are that style just get thrown into the 'some crappy metal variation' file in my brain.

Anyway, I've been listening to a lot of LTJ Bukem lately, so I'm ready to get flamed :ouch:

I liked Lacuna Coil at first, but it got old pretty fast. I'll see if I find this Tristania's album. 👍

Anyone here like Trivium? I found them a few days ago and I'm liking the album ( despite the screaming! :dopey: )

I do.

They're a bunch of arrogant ****s though. They're all about 18 and saying they're better than Metallica.

I guess I'll check into some of those bands.

How does everyone like Come Clarity? So far to me, it seems OK, but I don't really like the vocals on tracks like Scream.

I've heard them, and I have a couple of songs by them. But I've also heard they're the preferred band by emos who don't really like the emo scene.

Oh well, they don't ROCK! but they're pretty decent.

Trivium are in fact the Emo kids' metal band. To be honest, I never liked them in the first place, as they just sounded like another Metalcore band to me. Still do.

Whoever labelled them as "the next Metallica" needs a good slapping. I think I said the same thing quite a while ago. I would prefer Load and Re-Load Metallica over Trivium in terms of musical quality, and Trivium are just another band riding the Metalcore/Hardcore/Emo wave.

Matt Heafy is overrated.

Preach it brotha...

That's the point. They labelled themselves "the next Metallica"...
That's pretty damn arrogant! How can you call yourself the next-big-thing when you sound like 99% of all the other metalcore bands?

Anyone buy the new In Flames CD? Only 2 days left for me :D

Yep... Come Clarity... got it in the first week of January. I think it's good, but so far I still prefer earlier work... I guess I'll have to listen to it a bit more, though.

I'm not a fan of it at all. It's a completely different sound, and while this can give you the chance of looking at it without comparing it with the older work, I do not like it at all. Anders' voice is entirely irritating, and half of the time he sounds like he's on the brink of tears, which in small doses is tolerable, but throughout most of the CD it's absolute tripe.

The music, I must say (here I am comparing again) is much better than on Soundtrack To Your Escape, but it's still nowhere as enjoyable as it should be. There is nothing spectacular music-wise on this album, and whenever the melodic passages are brought in, they're cut short.

I believe a lot of people are enjoying this, because it's a fair bit better than Soundtrack To Your Escape, but in all honesty, this is nothing enjoyable to my ears. I will admit, however, that this is fairly different music-wise, but it's not different in a good way.

I still much, much, much prefer In Flames between The Jester Race and Clayman.

Mmm. I prefer the softer metal.

Less screaming the better for me.

I'm the same way...sorta. I still can't stand this low pitched grunting stuff, but the higher pitched stuff I can handle.

THE ED3
The song hell is for heros is pretty good.
I don't know which song is that. :\

Good to see you around, Diabolical. Haven't seen you around in quite some time, although I've been very guilty of that myself in the last year or so.
👍

I spend less time here at GTP than I used to.
BUT what also happens is that, most of the times, I don't know what the hell you're all talking about... :dopey:

By music-wise you mean not including the vocals right? If so, I completely agree. I think because of the vocals, Soundtrack to Your Escape is better overall. I would be interested in which specific tracks you like and which ones you hate.

Yes, I mean discluding the vocals.

From which album are you talking about?

Come Clarity

After listening through it again, I'm beginning to get used to it. 'Scream' is still pretty irritating though. That must be the one of the worst In Flames songs for me.

To be honest, Crawl Through Knives is the only song that I can stand throughout the album, without cringing from Anders' ever-changing, irritating voice.
