The New Lotus Elise in Gran Turismo 4

I love Lotus, lemme just say that first of all. I see a silver '03 Lotus Elise in my neighborhood every day and it gives me a boost for the day

I was looking at the GT4 car list and i saw this:

LOTUS (6 - 1 - 0)
340R
Elise Sport 190* ('98)
Elise ('00)
Esprit Turbo HC ('87)
Esprit Sport 350 ('00)
Europa Special ('71)
Motorsport Elise ('99)


I thought " oh crap, there isn't any new lotus elises in there? what gives? Its like there are only the old body style lotus elises included in the game"

Correct me if I am wrong, but is this some sort of shot at the new lotus? Do GT4 buyers not want to drive the sexy new Lotus Elise????

The new Elise was in GTC so it should be in GT4.

Note the word "Confirmed"...It means this is all we know. Anything else is in the air. As for the new Lotus, it could very well be in the game. I personally would love to se it in. Creating a new thread, however, isn't going to put it in the game. Anything is fair game here, so don't say "I want this" or "Why isn't this in it" or "What is the big deal with".

If it is in, while I'm still allowed to post, I hope we get to drive the old one with the top down. Thats cool.

The 340R hasn't been in any other GTs (haven't played GT:C or Prologue so i don't know if it's in them). I do believe the 340R is the open wheeled, bare-bones no roof non-convertible version.
 
That Lotus has already been in GT Conept . Anyway it's an average car , I'm looking forward to seeing the following : Masseratti quatro porti , Renault Laguna 2003 , VolksWagen PASSAT. None of them confirmed yet.

Your just lucky you don't have to pay the repair bills for it in GT. In real life if you want to repair ANY of the body it means replacing the whole shell (single piece of fibreglass) something like 10,000 pounds.

I wanna see the Passat , but I would also like to see the Volkswagon W12

Cant you just repair the fibreglass? Fibreglass isnt hard to fix you know.

Well i don't know, i just read it in the June issue of Evo.

"...the possibility of a slight 'off' may result in a damaged front spoiler, cracked bodywork (which requires the whole body to be replaced) and a bill for 9375pounds"

Seems to be for seriouse damage, but with prices like that i'd rather try my luck with super-glue instead.
 
Yes the guy who owns EVO mag owns a 340R, but he spun it (on a trackday?) and damaged the front body work, i dont think there was any chassis damage, but i think one headlight was damaged, and it did cost him nearly £10,000! to repair.

The Lotus is average and a Laguna or Passat arn't??? - i've driven all three and know which one is far from average - and it doesn't seat four in comfort!

Ive seen and driven cars like this in Toca - I think the 340R was in one of the first toca's. Anyway, I can only imagine how well the car is going to drive and handle

Or for that matter the Lotus Carlton... (Which might make it in under Vauxhall)

My dad had a cortina once... a Ford Cortina... but someone crashed into it... so the insurance company paid out for the repairs but my dad got his Bro to do it (A proper mechanic) and with the left over money he gave the entire car a respray into the lotus colours with the stripe down the side!!

Considering the brilliance of the regular Elise, and taking into account that the 340R is supposed to be a more pure drivers car, i'd say it it will handle <understatement>pretty darn well</understatement>.

No respect for saying that. The lotus is far from an average car. How many other cars can cost under 40K USD and have the umfph to keep up with Corvettes and Ferraris. You can throw out specific times and all that 0-60 crap, but the jest is that Lotus has a cheap winner on its hands.

Depends on the Corvette and Ferrari, but definitely agree, they can brake immensely late and carry crazy speeds through corners, they suffer a bit on straights.

I hope your being sarcastic.
The Elise is an incredibly well handling car, the Exige and 111R are supremely quick for there price. You would be surprised how much they can do.

And alot of British cars are plain awesome. The DB7 is one that i love, looks gorgeous and sounds gorgeous. The British invented track-day cars, Caterhams and Radicals beat the crapulance out of anything that anywhere close in price. Lots more examples but i can't be bothered listing them.

Who needs 500hp when you're dealing with 700~800 Kg?

When it comes to this sort of cars, it will all depend on passion (ok, and money).
Performance isn't quite the issue.
 
You really can't beat a British roadster for good driving fun :) And the new Elise will out-accelerate (but tenths or less to 60, but still) and out-G a 360 Modena with only 190 HP, and leave you enough money left over for 2,302 copies of GT4! Or just buy 3 of them and field your own racing team :)

And if someone forced me to drive for hours and hours each day, I think a Vanquish is right up there in ths list of cars I would choose. It may not wipe out the competition on the track, but this is GT after all :)

Ummm TVR, Nobel, Marcos, even Aston Martin... i'm taking it that you're not european or knowledgable about european cars, otherwise you'd know about these makes.

The BBC series Top Gear tested a Exige on their test track, and it was damp conditions.
Zonda 7.2 is the record holder, and all supercars have laid down hard fought times arond 1.25`s, and I dont remember the time the Lotus did but it was better than the Porsche GT3 and even with the Murcièlago, round 1.26-7.In similar conditions.
-By the way-I love German, French, Italien, Belgian and Swedish cars-But give us a break about the nimble Lotus.Light and lean, no tuning is more effective.

First off, your insane, no Lotus needs 500Bhp to compete with faster cars, on a tight track a Lotus can beat some entry level supercars, as for British cars being miles behind their European counter parts, which one's? Okay so Germany has the best luxury cars, England has the best sportscars, Italy has the best Supercars. See what I'm getting at, 90% of British car makers make sportscars, and their cars compete. Oh and Britain has the best car ever, the Aston Martin DB9, nuff said. Have a nice day.
