The "new" vettel challenge

The "challenge" is in the same place - GT life - special events - sebastian vettel challenge...just kidding:sly:
Everybody now has a X2010, because of trading (and duping).
My first X2010 was from a trade where the guy wanted a premium Nissan Skyline:drool:

And people like me got the X1 by reaching lv35 in B-Spec.

yeah but ...may people put in many long hard hours to get that bronze....and now they do this!!!! :grumpy:
oh well ...at least i can drive that monster better having put in all those hrs...

This is the problem with many attitudes around here: "I put in X amount of effort to get Y and then someone else got it easier! OMG the world is going to end this is complete horse dookey! RABBLE RABBLE RABBLE...."

Notice these are usually the same people that claim they play the simulator game "the way it is meant to be played". "They drive for the pure enjoyment of driving and the sense of accomplishment they get when they complete a challenge and earn a reward". Yet they get all up in arms if someone else was able to do it easier. They are hypocrites, all they actually care about is their ego and the feeling of superiority they have/had to others who could not accomplish such feats. Which is fine, have an ego! It's what drives competition in every form. But don't sit there and spew this holier than thou BS about driving for yourself when all you actually care about is being better than the other guy...

yea i tried this a few times, it drives like no other car in the game. the steering is far far too sensitive for my tastes. fortunately they have included a way to lower it now!!

PD made the right thing, no doubt about it.
Now lets wait 'til they decrease gold and silver times:D (and save during enduros, so I can reach the platinum trophy)

the new update has made all the vettel challenges bronze times roughly 10 seconds slower and while I am now happy to have my own earned X1 it has hardly no challenge at all getting bronze. Gold and silver haven't changed massively But you now only need about 2 average laps to win an X1. So basically I'm not saying that it is an easy challenge to win(gold), just that it is now a lot easier to pass (bronze). Anyone else got an opinion on this?

I know exactly what I'll be doing later when my kids are in bed! :D:D

I'm very disappointed with this change, I needed an afternoon to reach Bronze in every event for a X1, I now can get one without much hard. I tried numerous times and was 0.xx or even 0.00.xxx seconds above the time needed, and now they add more than 10 seconds, they are joking.

They changed the rules so everyone could get one, why don't they change the silver to the other bronze time? This way the ones with bronze could get a compensation for the effort. And yes, I'm one in that situation. Or even put the GOLD at SILVER time.

Of course there are people always unhappy with everything, but you must admit this is not very correct for the ones like myself that needed to get hard to get a X1.

I could be one of many here that don't have the skill to get SILVER or GOLD. But after getting the X1 (BRONZE) I never tried again for the others medals, so I can't say yes or no. After getting the X1, I wen't forward to get level 35 in A-SPEC and I'm playing very little of GT5 in the past 2 months, but this is unfair for the people that spend a lot of time getting a bronze X1, with the controller or with the a steering wheel.

Why didn't they put a X1 for sale at level 30 and leave the times unchanged? I think that would be much more fair than the other decision.

But this is my opinion and yes I continue very unhappy after writing this.

So are you upset that you had to work so hard to get your x2010? Or are you upset that I will get mine easier?
 
Why are you guys so selfish? This change should be done a long time before...
 
Haha, just going through this thread, it's funny how some people react. We would hear the same, "I spent all day doing *blah blah blah,* now such and such only has to spend an afternoon!" if PD were to have what the times are now, there originally, and if they shaved an ADDITIONAL 10 seconds off.

tl;dr, I'm laughing at people thinking they care about your struggle. There were people who got bronze for the X1 before this update in like 12 minutes. Saying how long it took you could also be demeaning to your already sensitive ego, apparently.
 
It's fine, it makes sense. Everyone who is playing the game properly has gotten to it by now and tried it. The people who could manage it have done it and those who can't haven't. I don't see a problem with them making it easier after a few months, makes sense

Nothing else in GT5 is/was next to impossible with a pad, so I see it as just bring it in line with that. Heard of a lot of people with a lot of skill struggling to even bronze it with a pad before, so yeah, seemed a bit unfair to exclude those without wheels, really.
 
Jebus, get a grip, I silvered 2 and bronze 1, so what. |Everyone has one. Its just a game, everyone played their game differently, its up to them. Put up and shut up.
 
I got bronze all all 3 before the update, just ran Monza again and got gold using the same settings + steering sensitivity @ 7, got nearly 2million XP points for that. Too easy now I suppose, glad that I earned mine before the update although for a lot of people it will still be a challenge to get bronze.
 
Bronze on both Monza and Nurburgring after a couple of tries, but can't even make it through the esses of Suzuka. Not once. Zero. Zilch :mad: :banghead:
 
I suspect I won't be the only one to earn his my first X2010 tonight - So Just a quick 'hats off' nod of respect to everyone who managed to bronze the old time. :-)

I had managed to bronze Monza, but I was still a good 2-3 seconds off bronze on either Suzuka or Nurburgring, this update has made it just a little bit easier. I suspect that now I have it, I'd be able to practice and get a little bit more used to the way it handles and improve on my times. However, at this stage I don't want to ever use the damn thing again - not after that. Bob can make use of the the bloody thing! :-D

Still - It looks pretty awesome in my garage.

If they make the gold easier then i would not be happy, i did not give away my soul to suzuka to get gold, only to find that they make it easier. I'm not fussed about bronze, i didnt find that too difficult anyway, the difference between gold and bronze is absolutely massive, i think everybody at this point deserves a Red Bull colours X1 of their own.


Getting gold in suzuka was the single hardest thing i have done in any racing game, you needed to be almost perfect for 2 laps.


Edit : People are annoyed as passing the Vettel challenges was a sign of skill and exclusivity, where as with the nerfed versions it doesn't bear no meaning. However, getting bronze before was hard but nothing special, getting gold before took an incredible ammount of precision, and i'd say only the top 10% would have the patience and skill to do it. I will also say that gamepad users were at too much of a disadvantage to wheel users and that getting gold with a pad would be almost impossible.

Same here. Just spent an hour on Suzuka, and only made it around the whole track twice. And I'm still 2 seconds off the new bronze pace. I'm sure I'll get it at some point, and then I can refrain from ever having to do it again :) The key is to go slow at first, to get used to the curves and the way the car handles around each one, then gradually increase the pace.

It's still a completely ridiculous challenge, IMO, and not in any way related to a "real driving simulator".

But that's all been discussed ad nauseum. I really don't see why anyone would complain about the new bronze times. For many people, they just want to complete the challenge for the sake of completion, and get an X2010 if they don't already have one. For others, the challenge lies in getting gold, and to that effect, bronze times shouldn't mean a thing.
