The "new" vettel challenge

This (easy Vettle) is a good thing. Exclusive content is pretty stupid. Either way, one of the first things I planned on doing in this update is putting some of my best cars in the share section so people could drive them for free.

Can't agree with that at all. The update doesn't change the fact that I beat the original challenge. I'm glad that there will be even more X1's online, so that there could possibly be more X1 races, so that owning the X1 actually has value. Something it would have lacked if it was rare.

The problem is that these challenges are considerably easier using a wheel, getting bronze in all except Monza using a DS3 was a real pain in the arse. It took me days of trying, a hell of a lot longer than it should have just to bronze all challenges, so I have no problem with PD making it easier because the times to beat using a DS3 were just stupid. PD should have took this into account when they made these events up, the silver and gold are ridiculous too and should be adjusted for DS3 users with an option to choose whether you're using a wheel or pad and the times would then change to suit. Sure, some people would "cheat" and use a wheel for the DS3 times, but who cares, they're only ruining it for themselves.
 
Big tip for Suzuka, the S bends at the start of the track, the key to doing them is to always aim for the middle of the track, so you go in for the apex and come out at the middle of the track, ready for the next apex and back to the middle. Do NOT use all of the track as you will then put yourself in a bad position for the next corner, always dab the brake before each turn even if you think you can take them full speed, you will take a faster and cleaner line with a dab of the brake putting the weight on the front tyres more, giving you more grip. The first sector is probably the place where most people lose the most ammount of time.


I just checked and it is only the bronze times that have been changed. Probably a good change overall.
 
Its X1 Challenge, it is supposed to be the most challenging event in whole series, best of the best.. We'll make you use to that
 
I'll be honest I'm still struggling with this. But I am very glad they lowered the bronze times. I did get bronze in monza so far. When I initially hit 30 I tried them each for about an hour and decided the time investment to finish them was simply not worth it. Yes I am a DS3 user.

It's still quite difficult as a pad user, but far more doable. It was a good move to make this change.

I'm the same, I hit 30 couple weeks ago and tried the Nurburgring using a pad, only finished it once bit was 9secs off the pace and thought, I haven't the time yet to do this. I'm glad they lowered it, I got Nurburgring Bronze last night first try :) Gonna try the others later, I expect Suzuka to be very hard!
 
The steering sensitivity update has helped me ALOT, thanks PD:tup:

Using the DS3 and right-analog throttle, I've managed to Gold Monza, 0.6sec left of Nurby and 1.1sec left of Suzuka. Can't wait for my Carbon X1:D
 
Every event has been a challenge, an adventure. Every set of races i've had, I've thought, Oh, wow, this will be fun. I can't say I've enjoyed every day of it. because I haven't, but it's been a good career. Like most people who have played the vettel challenge, I did the best i could wherever they needed me. I've worked with great people all along the way. I have no regrets.

Umm, I don't mind the fact that more X2010s are getting out into the world. However, pretty much every X2010 online race is either Indy, Daytona, or La Sarthe with no Chicanes. I can only presume the same will happen with the newer people getting their times. I'm not saying all are, I've raced with others around some road courses. But if you go look at the lobby listings, anything with X2010 in it's title is racing at Daytona. Otherwise, I'd be more then happy to race other people online with X2010. Some pretty amazing races can happen in them.
 
I think it was changed to help those of us who dont have wheels. I dont play GT5 that hardcore, more fun for me than anything. And it was nigh on impossible for me to get Bronze on it with the controller pre 1.06.

Bronzed Monza and the 'ring yesterday but Suzuka is more a challenge. Take me a bit of time but I will do it. If people have done the harder challenge, at whatever level then fair play, but I am not a serious gamer and appreciate being cut a bit of slack.
 
Got Bronze in the nurburgring and monza after a few hours of play last night with DS3. I gave up on the previous bronze times since there was no way I was getting them and the X1 is so twitchy to use. The new times are just about right, not easy but certainly achievable with practice (and not weeks of practice!). Stuck on the Suzuka, and after a few hours I still haven't completed 2 laps yet. Best lap i've done is 1.14.5secs.
 
Gah, I just got 2:11.554 on Suzuka using DS3, am going for silver which is 2:11.500 :(:(

Edit - 2:11.342 and silver obtained, also another 618200 XP points. :D

x1 race @ daytona or indy are just dump most boring stuff in gt5 its like to drive with a fiat 500

Exactly the same problem here. In Suzuka, if I make it through the esses, I get disqualified on the next corner lol.
 
I think these easier bronze times are nice. I had managed to bronze Monza and Nurburgring pre 1.06 but Suzuka was eluding me. After 1.06 I bronzed Suzuka on my first try. Now that I have the X1 I can use it to practise these tracks and maybe some day gold all of them :)

You should be able to fully accelerate through the first and third turn in the esses, only a slight use of brake is needed on the 2nd turn of the esses and on the fourth turn you should only have to drop down to about 175 or so, less depending on how you enter. As for Degner, if you have level 7 steering, you can easily accelerate fully through the first turn of Degner give a hard right, just before you reach the corner. If you do this, you will need to brake almost immediately after you go through it so you can make it through the The second corner. I usually drop down to about 140 to make it through there. Make sure when you brake for that corner you remain parallel to the road and then give a hard right. If you instead angle yourself towards the corner, you'll have to slow down much more.

You're lucky, I had 2:11.502 for quite some time before finally nailing it with a 2.11.101:D

Yes, well maybe the 'challenge' now is to go for gold and not bronze simply to complete the event. My aim now on this challenge is for silver on Nurburgring and then gold on that and Suzuka.

This is the problem with many attitudes around here: "I put in X amount of effort to get Y and then someone else got it easier! OMG the world is going to end this is complete horse dookey! RABBLE RABBLE RABBLE...."

Notice these are usually the same people that claim they play the simulator game "the way it is meant to be played". "They drive for the pure enjoyment of driving and the sense of accomplishment they get when they complete a challenge and earn a reward". Yet they get all up in arms if someone else was able to do it easier. They are hypocrites, all they actually care about is their ego and the feeling of superiority they have/had to others who could not accomplish such feats. Which is fine, have an ego! It's what drives competition in every form. But don't sit there and spew this holier than thou BS about driving for yourself when all you actually care about is being better than the other guy...

I think you misunderstood my point ....it is not that others will get it easier. if they had the lower target times in the first place ...then people (or maybe i should just speak for myself) could have spent their time enjoying the rest of the game.:)

It's only the same as the license tests to be honest. They all have easily reachable bronze times then silver and gold are further away.

Don't see a problem myself, it's still a challenge getting Bronze since it's hard to even keep the car on the track for two straight laps with a controller.

Well, I bronzed the Vettel challenge in the DS3 before the update. Now I'm trying to get at least silver, which seems much easier with controller steering sensibility system.

Oddly enough, I've never seen an online X1 race on ovals. Ever. I saw a pretty decent looking room well into 1.05 with assists off and a good number of laps, though I didn't enter that one. Even with mass duping X1 races were pretty rare, I doubt that the change in times will result in masses of people flocking to Daytona to race around at 300 mph (nothing wrong with it if they do though).
 
even with this update - suzuka circuit X1 with SixAxis was hardest thing I did in GT5!

Anyways after the update I was able to bronze Monza easily with all the practice I had put in there and Nurburgring went by fairly well too. Suzuka still took me a while but eventually I had two consecutive decent laps and I jumped for joy. I was only able to pass the new times by about 1/2 to 2 seconds, having put in effort both before and after the update. I feel that the new times are very close to what they should be for not only DS3 users, but average wheel users too.

Thanks mate. Finally bronzed Suzuka and have the S.Vettel X2010. Monza and Nurburgring took me approximately 20 mins each but Suzuka took me 2hrs.
 
Suzuka was still a struggle with the new bronze time with a controller. Just couldnt put 2 clean laps together.
 
10 more seconds to beat vettel? Yay! I'll have 10 x1's by the end of today ;)
