I'm looking more and more into getting one of these since the car I am currently waiting for is turning out to be a disappointment. Problem is I'll only be able to get a base model, but I guess that's a good starting point for mods.

Now if Mazda would hurry up and put the configurator on their website...

Just get it, man!

The color matched door panels on the top really piss me off.
But I love basically everything else about the car, inside and out. I wonder if there will be an option for something like black leather instead of whatever material that is. If not, maybe the aftermarket will come through.

Won't be able to until mid to late next year, but I'll try my hardest. $25k is still a lot on my salary.

Oh, for sure. We all have to eat. :) But, but, it's perfect. :D

Im sure someone will come out with alcantara inserts or something.

I see FIAT has released some details about what they plan to do with the mx5 platform. Abarth are going to do a super agressive version too like they did with the 695 Biposto. Nice cant wait to see them

Booooooo. Where's that "Save the Manuals" slogan?
I don't know.
But every time I see an NC PHRT parked, (the most common Miata in my area) I look inside of it and every single time except once it has been auto. I just don't get it. People here spend an extra $10,000 on a new car solely because it's new and ignore the actual purpose of the car... it makes me so mad.

I didn't even notice them until I drove one. Personally I love it - particularly in that fantastic shade of metallic red most of the UK cars seem to have been in.

It's painted plastic, by the way, rather than a coloured vinyl or leather. Glossy and shiny just like the exterior panels.

I figured it would be plastic but something in the back of my head said it could be metal. With that amount of shininess i knew it wasn't anything with texture.

Ouch.

Kudos to Mazda for stepping up and sending these people another car at no cost. 👍

This car just seems to have purpose now. I'm waiting to see all the hybrids: F20/22, 13B, 20B, 1.5TD(from the CX-3), 2.5T from the MPS cars. I hope RE Amemiya do one just because. When is the Tokyo Auto Salon?

October?

Edit: January.

Quick update from GoAuto
FIAT will again reset its position in the Australian market in the coming year, with a roll out of new and updated product set to lift the brand Down Under.

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) Australia president and CEO Pat Dougherty was bullish about Fiat’s place in the local stable of Italian and American brands, telling GoAuto “Fiat is here to stay, for sure”.

At the top will be the 124 Spider, which will be built alongside Mazda’s new MX-5 in Japan, but will sport its own drivetrains and body panels.

Right-hand-drive production will begin in January 2016, at least six months after the MX-5 launches locally.

Mr Dougherty revealed that there was an agreement in place to delay the 124’s on-sale date worldwide to allow room for the MX-5 to launch first.

“We have an agreement with Mazda, we went into this together at the same time,” he told GoAuto at the launch of the Chrysler 300 in Sydney. “It wasn't like it they did it on their own and badged it. We went into it at the same time prior to production.

“We also agreed that we wouldn't start production until six months or so after they launched theirs. So we're just a little bit behind them globally.”

Mr Dougherty does not expect the 124 to add much to Fiat’s bottom line, but he believes it’s an important car nonetheless.

“It’s not a big volume play, per se,” he admitted, “but it’s an exciting and important piece that says ‘that's a cool car and I'd like to go look at that’. It gives the dealer something to draw people in. It's fun for us, too.”

An Abarth version of the 124 is also expected to be launched locally.
