The next tuner challenge..

And I haven't forgotten my FWD entry either. Bimmer can stay as it is, it was tuned on Nurb on N3's so it's agile enough, despite the fact that setup for Citta is different from the one I posted on MFT. But, if I come across any way to improve turn in of S-Tune or laptime/T1 time of Focus, I'll post it. my best one for the Focus at the moment is high 39 T1 and 1'44.5xx lap.

He is running similar times to my Mirage and not getting wheelspin.

PS- The Mirage is not cemented in yet, I might do a different car if I get crazy. I'll keep you all posted.

I just gave my EG6 a NA Stage 1. The gears felt too long so I upped the power, and now they feel just right. 👍 Massive torque increase too. Wheelspin was barely effected. Also the top speed went up to 157mph :sly:

I can only imagine what you guys would be entering if engine swaps were possible in GT4, K20 Honda Fit's , Celica powered MR-S's :scared:, insanely fast car's like that :D

I was just counting how many cars are entered thus far, and its easily more than any Hot Version competition has ever had, judging may take a few days :nervous:

well, few sleepless nights during weekend will solve that.. :sly: I'll probably update the S-Tune setup to a faster one today. and if I'm lucky, the Focus will also get an update.

Looks like this is becoming a speed war.
I just hope everyone remembers not to sacrifice the keys to judging criteria for the sake of faster times.
Then again, I'd love to see a car with 100kg extra and 10hp less run laps only a second slower and feel ten times better. :sly:

It's all on you guys but try to keep in mind what the judges will be looking for in the contest!

Btw, did I ever mention that my most recent version of the Civic is running mid to low 1'43s around the track with mid 39s at T1? :sly:
Still, I'm not entering it but I just thought I'd mention it. :D

speed doesn't always make car faster, since it also increases braking distances and sets new sorts of challenges for the suspension setup. that's why S-Tune will remain at 519bhp. I will do my best to keep my cars as easy to drive as possible.. I bet that Kurei will love the 120i, whichever version he'll test.. it's so relaxing to drive that thing. :D

Kent, I'm getting closer and closer to neutralizing the wheelspin, and then I'll address other small impurities that are bothering the ST170's suspension setup. That car will set new standards to FWD handling on some levels, I'm sure of it. :sly:

Can we start a new tuner garage thread? I would love to have a place to post my settings so that people could help me improve, but there is no way any cars in the current thread besides competitions entries will ever be seen.

Well that's a big claim so you better get it right.

I still haven't tested the ST170, I haven't tested anything posted yet. However, the day testing begins I am going to be all over the FF class. :mischievous:

Let me work on fixing the situation. 👍
I'll talk about the subject more in the days to come.

I will do my best to meet the claims. Although, it is near impossible to completely get rid of wheelspin on that particular track due the bumpy surface I'm aiming to get as close as possible without too big sacrifices in handling department. This thing really is Focus RS's freely breathing little brother that has less tendencies towards eating babies or breathing fire. Laptimes have been dropped from 1'46 to low 1'42, so there has been a big amount of progress since that initial setup of mine.. :mischievous: I believe you'll like this car. It might not be as civilized as your Civic, Kent, but then again, it IS going against Touge Monster..

Maybe to them it's a speed war, but my FR entry is nowhere near as fast as either the ASL or the 111R but they've got 50hp more and 300-400kg less than me......I have to change the 4WD entry as against the R-tune, it's not that quick.

The ONLY one I'm considering for speed is my bread and butter on the 1/4, the FF category. ;) Come play with the FF speed king boys!! :mischievous:

I'm starting to get the feeling that matching your Civic around the course will really be the standard for Touge Monster, not the Spoon Integra as that thing is a boat!!

If I can dial out the last bit of push from my Integra, it WILL bag FWD.

My AWD will never get winged (Winged R32 = looks wrong), and I've yet to find a RWD that feels right with a wing.

See, I knew you had an ITR. :P DC2 or DC5 version??

My RWD looks and feels awesome with the wing. :D And I've barely touched the DF. ;) 5/10 only at the moment and it's already near perfection.

I've had to go back to the RS4 YET AGAIN. This time it took new gearing, suspension and VCD to cure some understeer. Seems I fix the problem, then a day later it returns!

I see no reason TO wing my RWD projects, as I haven't seen much of a drop in times, and the cars wind up feeling wrong.

I guess that comes down to driving style mostly... certainly a lot of people agree with you that they don't do much to improve laptimes, are ugly, and make cars "feel wrong".

I tend to find though that the right amount of downforce on the right car can make all the difference in extracting that last bit of grip or shaving off the last iota of imbalance that allows for much more ballsy (hence fun, for me at least) driving, quicker paths through corners, and in the end better, more consistent times.

Greycap's Europa would be a prime example - he used the same downforce strategy I did when I built mine - a stronger rear bias, without which, the car would have never placed as well as it did. With no downforce at all, it likely would have finished near the bottom if not dead last, no matter how brilliant the suspension and gearing setup was.

My Renaults needed it to avoid being overly twitchy and excessively likely to experience snap-oversteer, but it wasn't a problem with NO wing.

The downforce values need to be balanced out to the given end of the car to not affect balance (a nose-heavy car will want less rear downforce, rear heavy will want less front, etc) as X amount of downforce will make more difference on the lighter end of a car than it will on the heavier end.

I just wanted to come in and mention something that's been bothering me for a while now... I've seen concerns that no one can use the same car...

I want to let you all know that it is perfectly fine to use the same car as another entrant. In fact, I encourage you all to use the car you think is best regardless of what others are doing. Further, be sure to tune the car in a way that you think is best and show the other competitors where they have gone wrong!

I hope that clears up the issue and encourages all of you to use the car you think is best and not the car that's still not taken.

Remember... Use the car you think is best regardless of whether or not it has been tuned by someone else. 👍

I have a new FF car that will blow you all away. It's a 39.4 T1 sector, it runs a 1'40 lap time, probably a 1'39 when driven properly. These times aren't too impresive, but the car I did it with people won't expect.......
I might be able to fine tune it a little more. It has not too much wheelspin.

Sorry Kent, it's different to everyone else.

:odd: Ummm.....check VTC my friend. :) 81-88 category, me & RJ with the GT-Four. Also 73-80 for Leo & Nd4HoldenSpd with the Spitfire. There was never any "I've got this car so you can't have it" rule, I think it ended up being more of a gentlemen's agreement that if someone had that car they could use it exclusively.

Good, I've been looking for another way to whip RJ around the circuits. jk RJ. 👍

Also, PM being sent, have a query regarding TCv3. :)

no doubts for my Spoon Civic.., although many "scorn" that car, i have faith in it, i believe in this machine.., :sly: and i will continue to make it better until the set deadline.., you will all see the word "dedication" all over my EK9..,

I just thought I'd clear up that when I said "blow you all away" I meant it will surprise hopefully, not that it will beat yas. It definitely has a little fine tuning to be done.

Considering scrapping the RS4 right now... its really starting to be an annoyance for me. So I drove one of my old Evo'TMEs, and even at a 120bhp disadvantage, it wipes the floor with the Audi, so I'm going to start poking around the EvoVIII GSR.

Are we allowed to change cars after we've posted the previous one? I could easily just completely edit the RS4 post.

It will be a shame to replace an Audi with a small Lancer, but I can't see anything in the rules which would disallow the swap.

I finished fine tuning my FF car, it dropped from a 39.4 T1 to a 38.97 T1, can anyone beat that? :mischievous:
Mind you, most drivers should only average a low 39sec pass. All it turned out I needed was a rear toe adjustment. I might just go and post this car now.

Oh yeah, did anyone else experience torque steer over bumps in their FF? I felt it in every FF I drove (at least 5- trying to find one I could keep the wheelspin out of)

what in blazes.., all this time i have been tuning my Spoon Civic and i didn't even realize its cornering was getting sluggish because it needs a rigidity refresher.., i have been driving this car for like, 1000km already.., i keep on tweaking the toe angles, how could i be so stupid?? :ouch: i need to re-think my setup again..,

uh, what's torque steer??
