Engine Swap = changing out the stock engine, the one that came with the vehicle, for a different one. For instance:

Mazda RX-7 comes with a Rotary engine in it. You decide to swap in a new engine. You take out Rotary engine and put in new engine. Good idea is the Inline6-Turbo.

Well I just beat the first part of this game.

Now it just opened up and gave me 400-500 new opponents. This game is so much better than TXR0, and that's saying a lot.

I can't wait to get racing again.

Finaly, I got this game.

It's ****ing awesome, a great stopgap until GT4.

A few questions.

I started in Osaka and then sorta made my way to Tokyo, but the first two stages were tiny and had all their stuff blocked off. Does that get unlocked later in the game?

Is the only way to add new cars to the buy screen, is to beat the leader of a team or a wanderer guy or whatever?

Oh and how many cars can you own? I have an S13 and a Supra, but it says something about a subgarage?

My supra's got more suspension weight reduction stuff, more than anything else.

RaceIdiot- I'll answer as many as I know. About the courses, yes the rest of the areas do get unlocked and open up many many more roads. This happens after you beat Nagoya, Tokyo, and Osaka once, then you go through and do it all over again. :)

The cars- TO MY KNOWLEDGE , I'm not 100% certain, but I belive you have to beat the boss/wanderer/leader of in the car for you to be able to buy it. I'm not 100% certain, so dont quote me.

Garage- You can hold up to 5 cars in your garage, and the subgarage can hold up to 15 cars, so in all you can hold 20 cars. The subgarage is basically a place where cars can be stored if you just refuse to sell one in order to buy another.

Well, in my experience with the Evo V on this game. Dont get this pos. Heavy as a pig, and good acceleration, but I dont need acceleration when I am getting beat on the straights.

My advice, go with the Rx-7. Rx-7 is the thing on this game. On my first save file I used it and beat the crap out of everybody on this game.

I could even beat almost all the rivals with the same hp I have this crap.

werd. but is it because honda/acura didn't give them permission or something. im kinda pissed. gt4 will have them, and txr and gt4 are just about the same game.

p.s - don't start a whole new conversation about how trx and gt4 are different. you know what i mean.

I bought it from an Import Game shop, it's an American version.

Ahh thanks mate that makes sense, I just need more money to tune my Supra.

I tried the FC as my starting car, but I didn't like it. So I used the S13 instead, it still hauls ass better than my supra, but that's because it's so damn heavy.

Oh and another question, do the tune parts just get unlocked the more you beat people, or is it the distance you race?

If you go 1242 (usually its around 1245) miles on one car, then you can do an Engine swap on that car, and that car only. So, when you get 1245 miles on a car, you can swap the engine on that car.
parts become unlocked based on who you beat, but engine swaps are miles. :)

EDIT: You can swap the engine to any car as long as it has 1245 miles on it. But you cannot swap your whole garage if only one car has those miles on it. i'm trying to explain it the best I can, but its not working.

Hmm, so if I drive my S13 enough I can put a RB26DETT in it? Would there be any point in swapping the supras 2JZ-GTE engine?
I want a JZA70 supra! with a V8!

Are there anymore wheels that can be unlocked? I like the feature that makes the wheel size increase. I have +2 Inch increase on the rear and +1 on the front. It makes my Supra look teh coolz.

One thing about this game, the majority of the opponents cars are so ugly looking.

The engines you can swap to aren't specific. They're like, for instance "RE T" For a Rotary Turbo. Or an L6 T, or L6 NA.

Damn!

Oh well, i'll just pretend it is then. :D

I just think this is kinda funny, and no, I don't know what you mean, Considering the only similiarity is that they both have cars in them. ;)

Well I'm about 70% done in this game now. I don't think I'll ever get 100% though, cause I'm not going to buy a gameshark. I've only owned two cars so far, the RX-7 Infini, and the WRX-Sti. Right now the WRX is working out great for me. I have about 900 miles on it, and hopefully it'll be able to hold out until the engine swap.

God damn, this game puts Need For Speed:Underground to shame.

First purcase a cappucino. Next get an engine change swap to v8 turbo. After that buy weight down 5,transmission 3,clutch 5, and suspension 3. Next get all carbon aero parts. Also get muffler and colling 5. Now you should have 475 ps. Go to car settings transmition and enter these ratios:Gear 1:3.260 Gear 2: 2.000 Gear 3:1.330 Gear 4:0.980 Gear 5:0.889 And Final Gear:3.125 Do not forget slick tires and increasing rear wheel 2 inches. Enjoy the 210 mph cappucino:)

If you put a large engine in a small/slow car, it will not make as much power as it would in a larger/fast car.

Here is a hp/tq list for the bigger/faster cars.

And there are no more wheels that you can unlock.

You see the cars you've listed in that link, will they not benifit from an engine swap?

Also is there any difference between those custom cars you win and the normal ones? Most of them just look ghey.

👍 👍 👍 👍 👍 👍 👍

I just unlocked that single turbo supra in the intro though. That looks pretty cool, it's just so expensive and I just bought an R32.

Sorry if this a dup post or question. I posted this in the Wanderer thread, but no one seems to be responding. Please help if you can:

I want to start by saying the forum has been a great help so far in helping me get as far as I have. I am down to the last 3 wanderers and am a little stumped.

For the hooligan guy...everyone says to enter the pit stops from both directions. Well, you can only enter them from one direction, but you can leave some of them from one of 2 directions. Do you mean that you have to go in to each pit stop and leave via both directions before the hooligan guy will appear?

The other one I am stumped on is the one where you have to turn your hazards on and then bang into the retainer walls. Is there a psecial car you have to use? Sticker? Lighting? I have tried numerous cars and have not been able to get this one to challenge me.

And then all that's left is 600, but that should be cake if I can get these other 2.

Thanks in advance for any help.
