because people messaging me makes my inbox closed?
honestly if you have something to say message me and stop crapping this thread with your childish BS.

The two of you should either date, or just ignore one another.

This is how threads get locked.

I'm pretty much done. Just speaking the minds of many here. Any more comments will be driven straight to dave in his special inbox.

What do you know, the Nascar vid is up on PD's US site in HD
Some people are just not patient enough - Motortrend did say they got an advanced look at it...

And it looks good, too! I started the PC-to-PS3 copy before I left for work so I can see it on the big plasma later on.

This was expected, since it's a PD-produced video, and it's exactly the kind of stuff people in this thread want to see. Even some gameplay, driven by their (presumably competent) staff and captured in high-def, would be fine - doesn't have to be fancy with synthojets and live interviews.

Who here wouldn't like to watch KY drive the 'Ring in one of the new Ferrari or Mercedes rides, in 1080p? 30 mins out of his life, captured, with a tiny amount of post-production, uploaded to PSN would do a world of good - especially after the last-minute yanking of the March release. Run the track, then add on replays with in-cockpit and exterior flying-camera views.

That kind of stuff would keep newcomers, on the console-decision fence, hanging around for more.

Lol, whine some more and I will.
I don't have the answer to everything, but the whining and complaining is getting pathetic now. Everyone is acting like a 8 year old little girl who didn't get that pony for her birthday.
How is you whining and telling PD/SONY how to do their jobs, going to make things better?
There's a difference between whining and taking your business elsewhere.
Most on here are whining, true, as they will buy it anyway, I, for one, am strongly considering just doing business with another company that offers a similar product, without a 6 year wait.

Seriously, all you guys are complaining because they aren't doing things the way you want them to do it or how some others do it.
I can only speak for myself, but I'm not, and I'd guess that the majority of people in this thread is neither. I just think that the way of communicating with the outside world and releasing information is way below the standards such a company should fulfil.

Imagine you're going to a job interview for a cashier at a bank. You turn up filthy and with your worst clothes. Even if your grades might be excellent, and you are really good at that job, the interviewer will likely turn you down, because he expects you to fulfil certain standards. He expects you to meet the customers of the bank properly dressed, because your outside represents said bank at that very moment for that customer. If you can't even dress properly for the job interview, what can that guy expect of you?

Same goes for PD and Gran Turismo. It is a hugely popular product which claims to be the pinnacle of console driving simulators. Therefore, one can expect the company that produces it to introduce a certain amount of professionality regarding the product itself as well as releasing information about it. PD does not act very professional, and that goes independently of what anybody personally wishes them to do. But they should, and that's what this thread is about.

My only question is why don't they reveal more, more often? For example, how is knowing the complete car list going to ruin GT5 in any way? How is knowing the track list going to ruin GT5 in any way? How is going into more depth about tuning a bad thing? Is it really too early?

Why show all your cards before you play your hand?

Thing is, if you reveal everything 6 months before release, people will get bored and move on. If you do bits and bobs and then reveal all in a feature list a couple of weeks before release, people are more likely to buy it.

That's the way it should be! I don't want see more till i get my copy of the game.

Well, they didn't ask for me. They just got me. But SCEE invited GTPlanet, yes.

^So have Sony finally accepted this is one of the major hubs for fans now? I remember Jordan mentioning they didn't really like GTPlanet existing and preferred fans to use the Sony boards (which is fair enough). I also remember someone saying they do monitor this site for feedback.
I find it interesting that they invited GTP, I wonder if it was because of the large amount of "GTP_" tags that ended up in the leaderboards and at the national finals?

How come no one has heard about this before then? Surely if there had been any official contact with GTPlanet it would have made front page news here.

Because you're (PD/Sony) an infamous bluffer?
That would be my reason. The only GT game that hasn't had some form of big letdown ever is GT1 - That's it.
GT2 - bugs
GT3 - 150 cars
GT4 - no online play (that's worth more than my liquid stool)
GT5P - Crappy online play, crappy "career/arcade/whatever it is mode" - not followed up by GT5 for over 2 years.
GT5 - ??? I'm sure it's there, we just don't know what yet.

LOL! The game which we speak of is Gran Turismo 5. People won't get bored if information is released early. Come on, think about it.

In other words, finding out the complete car list and track list today, would have no effect on sales when the game is finally released. But admittedly, I do see a point in gradually exposing the customer to the product.

I'm gonna write a letter to Kaz. Asking if maybe a couple of times a week, they could record one of their testing sessions on video, and post it here. I'll have my girlfriend translate it into Japanese and have her co workers hand deliver it since they travel to Japan often. Maybe something will come of this. Come to think of it, one of her friend's last name is Yamauchi.

You know, by ridiculing the idea you're not going to improve this discussion. If you think that PD is acting professionally, bring forward your arguments please.

They will market the game and stuff when the time is right, to do so too early would be unprofessional.

The Nascar video was up on PD's Japanese site yesterday....

Just sit tight all the info and vids wil come soon enough - when they are ready to do so

All I'm asking for is a little structure in the release of content and information on PD's side. We do get new screenshots once in a while, a video and some bits of information. But it all happens through people finding every bit and piece in interviews and on numerous websites and gathering it here.

Let's imagine I am programming a racing game with a couple of capable friends - not that I could actually do that, but let's just say I could. We would just see whether we can make a proper game and float on whereever our ideas take us. So what would we do on our website to build anticipation of potential customers? Release first renderings and screenshots of our work? Sure! Render a video? If we can, why not? Talk about what we're working on and what we're planning to put into the game? Certainly! Talk about possible release dates? We sure would, but we might need to push the date a couple of times.

Now, does that sound familiar? And would you associate the above behavior with a million-selling game franchise in its fifth incarnation, made by a professional team of programmers under the hood of a globally operating company?

Well put yourself in their position. Would you even talk about content that isn't finalised, or beta/test material? Off course not.

No preview is better than a bad preview, especially stuff that might not end up in the final game

Honestly, it seems people hold PD up to different standards comapred to other top devs

The language barrier will make it difficult for PD staff to have forum discussions with thier customers.

It would be really nice to see GT5 being advertised (when the time is right) to the standard of the Heavy Rain advertising.

WTF is is your problem? I was being serious! I ran the idea by her earlier and after she laughed she agreed.
Forget it. I was being serious but all I'm getting is assholes giving me crap. Forget I said anything.
