You sure? I've listened to Rap for about 7 years. I don't wear trackies unless I'm playing football and I have never been in trouble with the Police, I haven't even had a parking ticket.
Do you live in England?

Do you live in England?

Yep. Essex in fact, which is known as the rude boy capital. To be honest, the people who were trackies and and hoodies and hang around McDonalds mostly listen to Drum and Bass and hardcore stuff.

'Rude Boy' capital? Chav capital as I know of it (no implication that you are a chav)

'Hardcore Stuff'? Or 'crap' as I like to call it

I prefer "Rude boy" because "Chav" is over used.

"Hardcore" stuff I consider to be Happy hardcore, techno, etc.

I wasn't born in Essex, which is good. I'm originally from Walthamstow, East London.

I agree, chav is a little over used. but hey, I'm arrogant and quite strange, so i'll keep using it.

Think yourself lucky you wern't born in Essex, my aunt is, and she is as cranky as a pot full of bees on a rolleroaster made from jelly.

I didn't realise you meant 'hardcore' to be Techno, some of it is ok. i thought you meant that chavish stuff that chavs listen to whilst wearing burberry and mugging old grannies*. You know, that rap crap that makes me soooooooooooo mmmmmaaaaddddddddd!   :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

* - My own opinion, prob not true, but hey, if you can't hack it then don't read it or reply

As a listener to hip hop/rap, I fully understand that most of hip/hop/rap is just entertainment. It shouldn't be taken to heart, as their goal isn't to encourage violence and "hoes". One could say "rock" music promote hate, but I don't believe that and thats another story. ;)

I'm not even going to seriously reply to your previous posts. If that is your opinion, then you're close minded, your loss, not mine.

Same here, but I still have a few things to say.
I HATE rock (in general) besides some commercial songs/artists.
I LOVE the Jay-Z/Linkin Park collabo. Off course a close minded rock fan (and that are a lot of people here on this board apparantly) doesn't like it "because of that n***a with his fat lips" ****ed up the songs....
Damn, how ignorant is that?
Rock fans are in my eyes the most close minded people in the world.

They don't even try to accept other music styles.
3 houses further than mine is a rock café, they play metal and other rock things ( :dopey: )....damn, all the people walking in there look like they haven't washed their hair in like a year, clothes that look like they were allready washed 1 biljon times,.....
I just think all of them are nasty (and I can say that because I see everybody that walks in and out of that café). and also it looks like a dump!! Even the glasses they drink out are dirty...Djeez, how hard is it to clean up a bit and paint some stuff.

When you compare that to a café or club were they play rap/hiphop or r&b the difference is huge!
The women are nicely dressed up (rockers call them H O's....but that's their narrow minded ****ing problem), guys also, the club is very nice cleaned up...

"They only talk about their penis, guns, hoes, rides,...."
Dude LISTEN to the lyrics!!!! You just pic out some words from the lyrics and think you understand what they're saying....man get a life.

And as showed in this thread most (!!! yes i said most, not all!!) rock fans are racists!
All those dudes shooting up their schools in the US...what did they listen to? Rap? No, Marilyn Manson and such.......nice to know...

Well, enough said...this will probably be an endless discussion :yuck:

I think on this board, it would most likely be, because they hate Linkin Park.

Haha, tuning maniac, I know what you mean. About a week ago I was on a train and sat down behind 2 guys with long hair and rock shirts. I was thinking when I entered the train that I smelled something, but it wouldn't be the first time something stinks in a train. But after a while I realized the stench of sweat came from those 2 guys. Disgusting.

Now I'm not going to take all rock fans and put them in the same category, but one segment of them, the long haired, metallica shirt wearing, unshaved type of rock fans stink. Literally.

I am not going to say either that only rock fans are close minded, I know people who like hiphop but classify anything with guitars in it as "noise"... but there definitely are a bunch of close minded rock fans in here.

There are just as many, if not more closed minded rap fans in here. To call all rock crap is just stupid. Likewise, calling all music of any genre crap is just stupid.

Open up your ears and listen to some variety. Grab a Miles Davis CD, some Dire Straits, and a bit of De La Soul - listen to it all maaaan. Don't single something out because of one group.

It's going to be an ENDED discussion if I see you post more profanity like that, with or without the stars. This language is totally unacceptable and the part about school shootings is just in very bad taste.

Watch your language in the future. This is a warning.

WTF you dare call US ignorant after you just made up our minds for us? Jay Z and linkin park suck balls because they lack talent, I couldn't give a flying banana what colour their damn skin is. It is also ignorant of yourself to judge most rock fans simply on what you've seen on this board, this board hardly gives a clear view of what every rock fan thinks, nor does the fact you live near a rock cafe, as you obviously don't frequent the place.

From the sounds of it, you don't try to accept other music styles. Who cares how they look tbh? OH NOES it looks like a dump, so rock sucks, man you hold a convincing argument.

When you compare that to a café or club were they play rap/hiphop or r&b the difference is huge!

Gee wizz, I've been in some utter dumps that play that kind of stuff.

"They only talk about their penis, guns, hoes, rides,...."
Dude LISTEN to the lyrics!!!! You just pic out some words from the lyrics and think you understand what they're saying....man get a life.

Well it is true, the lyrics usually are about a guy pimping his hoes and riding about in a white merc selling drugs, you can't exactly pretend there's some kind of deeper meaning to singing about riding about in a pimped up BMW. This whole gangsta thing is pretty fake tbh, a bunch of middle class people acting as if they are gangstas...it's such a cliche. Snore.

And as showed in this thread most (!!! yes i said most, not all!!) rock fans are racists!

Your a tosser. BTW you forgot to blame GTA, ofc we can't blame bad parenting, or the fact that these kids may have done it anyway, people were killing each other before rock n roll was invented. If anything, the whole gangsta idea has encouraged the american gun culture, "popping a cap" in each others "asses" left, right and centre.

Well, enough said...this will probably be an endless discussion

Not a discussion, more along the lines of you will say something completly offensive, and then everyone will rip you apart.

P.S Grow a brain before posting. Thank you.

NO!

When will you guys finally accept that most hiphop lyrics aren't just about that?? It is the garbage rap you see on tv which is mostly about that, which I hate just as much as you guys do, maybe even more.

It's obvious that most gangsta rappers aren't doing gangsta things, because otherwise they would be in jail and not rapping. By the way, gangster rap isn't always based on profanity or approving of criminal acts. There are a lot of artists rapping about the topic, but for example a Raekwon - Built for Cuban linx is written in story form. You should listen to it as if you're watching a movie like Scarface or Training Day. It is a gangsta rap album, but far from glorifying it, just describing it. It's the same with a lot of Kool G Rap's music, or the music by a Slick Rick, or Mobb Deep, Cormega, Tragedy Khadafi... etcetera etcetera.

They make music and to make good hiphop takes just as much skill as making good music in other genres, maybe with exception of classical music, since that is often extremely complex.

Yes I do, all the time. But you have to admit, rap has gone downhill steadily as soon as Eminem released The Slim Shady LP. And The Marshal Mathers LP was worse, Eminem show was soooooooo bad I'm suprised it got produced, and Encore is really supposed to suck. Yes, I do listen to a little rap, (used to listen to eminem, REALLY bad choice) And that one rap group is : The Beastie Boys. They own any rapper to ever get on the mic. any body who can make a song about a brass monkey and make it sound awesome, are geniuses in my mind.

Hip Hop is DEAD. face it socks.

Far from it to be honest, it's just being milked right now by massive corporations... the stage that rock music was in a couple of years ago with Blink 182 / Offspring / Korn clones popping out of the ground like cabbage.

And about Eminem, the Slim Shady album and the Marshall Mathers albums were both really good in my opinion, ever since that it went downhill. Actually I thought Eminem was a fresh breeze going through hiphop. His music right now is pretty much plain garbage, but I don't think he's the cause for the current state of mainstream hiphop. I think the state of mainstream hiphop ruined his music. It's the Ja Rules, Nelly type of artists that ruined in my opinion, they linked hiphop with R&B, a very bad move... right now with mainstream rap you can't tell anymore whether it's R&B with a rapper or hiphop with some R&B singer crooning on the hooks. 👎

The state that rock was in a couple of years ago is probably what turned me away from that genre and started listening to hiphop. Everything sounded like the same bland whining about an ex girlfriend over simple riffs. Yuck. I used to listen to rock 70% of the time and hiphop 30%, now I only still listen to a couple of rock bands. System of a Down, the Mars Volta, (a little) Slayer, Rob Zombie and Sublime are about the only ones left.

All music is dead, well in Australia anyway. They all sound the same to me, it's all manufactured. They don't make music the way they used to. Now, it's all about what the teenage girls or rap fans like (no offence to all rap fans). They can change their minds faster than you can say "blah!" BTW, I'm only 18.

The reason for hating rap music can be summarized in a single word: IGNORANCE
I think it's ok not to like certain genre of music. While I like most types of music, I can't say I like too much of Country Music. :yuck: I'm not an huge fan of rap, but there are few amazing artists, I really like.

Some of the rappers I enjoy are Fugees, Lauryn Hill( 👍 ), Wu-Tang Clan, Beastie Boys, Will Smith(...don't be hatin'!).

At least 90% of "rap" on the radio or on TV is garbage ... The other 10% was made prior to 2001 ...

thats why you go looking for new stuff, dont just sit around listen to the commercial radio and complaining theres no good stuff

Well, not only does it not have instruments.... But most of what I've
heard doesn't have good vocals either. Yes, I'm aware that what is
on MTV isn't all of rap and hip hop. However, isn't most of it still about
lyrics that rhyme and such?

And most of these white kids listening to rap probably would be
scared to death if they found themselves is a rough neighborhood.
I've dated some women that come from the rough streets and I can
tell you that it isn't pretty and I wasn't greeted with hello's and hugs.

I listen to mainly Blues, Blues-Rock, Hard Rock, Motown, Soul and funk
with just ALITTLE bit of metal and maybe some late 80's-early 90's rap
stuff. So I'm not just a hard rock fan at all. Even if a rap song has the
best lyrics ever, if it lacks in both vocals and good instrument play there
is a 95% chance I'm not going to like it. Basically, rap and country music
are left out of my collection... I guess I can even listen to some Classical
and Jazz music.

zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz..............snore, snore, cough, cough........zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

*momentaraly wakes up with a chomping sound and re-adjusts balls*

Oops, sorry, listening to rap crap again
