Intricate Series 8 one now.

How did Rimmer avoid dying of a heart attack as Cassandra predicted?

Hmmm tricky.
I can practically quote Series 1-6 verbatim, but I moved out to US before series 7 & 8 were screened in UK. Downloaded them off Kazaa (slapped wrist) but haven't watched them nearly as often....I need a revision session.....;)

I remember that one, Rimmer gives that other guy his jacket with his name on it and introduces him to Cassandra so she thinks he's Rimmer and he has the heart attack instead.

Good enough.

First he notices that no-one referred to him as "Rimmer" throughout the entire conversation. He then "accidentally" spills some liquid over a man called "Nott", and gives him his jacket as a replacement...

Your go.

Just ressurecting this thread sorry I haven't posted a question my internets been playing up and slow, I'm struggling to think o a good question and I might not be on long tonight so if anyone else wants to post a question instead, feel free to.

Ok then.....

What were the first names of the 3 obviously dead members, of the Nova 5 crew, to whom Kryten was attending when the "Boys from The Dwarf" responded to his distress call?

Jane, Tracy, and Anne...

Holly (Norman Lovett, I believe) gave much to the world with his creation of the "Holly Hop Drive", but it's what he did for music that was so revolutionary...

What was his contribution to music?

;)

He decimalised it. The tonic sol-fa scale, in the decimal music system, goes:

Doh - re - mi - fah - soh - lah - woh - boh - ti - doh.

In all of the combined episodes in all of the Red Dwarf series, how many different versions of David Lister, Arnold Rimmer and The Cat have Craig Charles, Chris Barrie and Danny John-Jules played (that's Listers, Rimmers and The Cats in different time frames - and including Ace and the like)?

Just read the history here. Considering my choice of usernames, I'm astonishingly bad at this.
Answer off the top of my head;
Listers, Rimmers and the Cats:
basic cast; 1 each
Dispair Squid episode; +1 each
Demons and Angels (one of my favorates); +2 each (I think. Demon Lister might actually have been played by someone else)
Polymorph: If emotion removal counts as another version, that's plus 1 for Rimmer and the cat. Plus 2 for Lister, as Craig Charles played the polymorph being Lister as well.
The Inquisitor: +1 each (he takes their form to judge them) and +1 Rimmer and Cat from the timeline without Lister and Kryten.
New Kochanski's alternate dimention: +1 cat and Lister, Rimmer died in that one.
Time hole in the showers episode (White Hole?): +2 Lister and Rimmer, no new cats, IIRC.
Body swap: +1 Rimmer and Lister, if those count
Future versions from the last episode of season 6(?): +1 each
Ace: +1 Rimmer (assuming each apperace of Ace is the same incarnation)
Alive Rimmer: +1
2nd Hologram Rimmer: +1
Do holoship and hardlight Rimmer count as different versions?
Rimmerworld: Rimmer +a lot. I'd say he played at least 10 of them.
That seems to be all I can think of
Rimmer: 14-26, depending.
Lister: 10
Cat: 9

Other alternates not played by the main cast:
Young and old Lister from the Inquisitor episode
Alternate sperm Lister, Inquisitor episode
the reversed sexes and dog, from the Holly hop episode
a bazillion dead Aces
I'm sure I've missed a few still...

Edit: Alternate Lister with twins, alternate Lister who got exploded, alternate old Lister (was that Craig?), future echos episode.
How many time travel episodes were there (not counting backwards)? I'm getting them all confused. White Hole, Time hole in the showers, future echos, it's all running together in my head.

Oh, and the reality bubbles on the way to get the time drive. +Lister the Robot and +everybody with animal heads.

I have to stop now, I'm going to be thinking of more alternates all night...

Huh, trust Famine to come up with a "simple" question!

Nice answer Emohawk, the episode you refer to as Timehole in the showers is Stasis Leak, from series 2.
"In layman's terms, a Stasis Leak, is a leak, right, in Stasis, hence the name a Stasis Leak."

Better wait for Famine to confirm that your answer is OK before posting a new question though.

Honestly, I don't care if it's right. It's such a splendidly-worked answer that I've GOT to give him credit for it... :D

Your go...

Oh come on Famine, I was expecting a colour-coded crosslinked excel spreadsheet listing who played what part, how long they were on screen for, original airing date and episode names!!!!!! What a cop-out!!!!

Well, I CAN do that, but I think my girlfriend would prefer I concentrate on driving the car...

Why thank you.
I would like to see that chart though ;)

Hmm, I was thinking "name all the Kochanski's", but that's kinda lame. '"Double check and mate, sucka": what's the move?' is too specific.
Errr... The books are fair game, yes?
What three animals form the guards of Cyberia, and what are they called?

I'm back home now - I'll dig out the calculations I did for this question when I've had some sleep (and re-watched "Rimmerworld" and "Blue"...) :D

WTF is red dwarf?

There's no need for the F.
A simple "What is" would have done!

Red Dwarf is a science fiction sit-com from the BBC that has run for many years (8 series) and there are several books. Also there's a film in the pipeline.
It concerns the voyage of the last human being in existence, Dave Lister and his companions, Arnold Rimmer (a hologram of Lister's bunkmate) Holly (the shipboard computer) and a creature who evolved over 3 million years from the ships cat. There's also a mechanoid, Kryten who features from series 2.

Search on BBC website www.bbc.co.uk or www.bbcamerica.com for it.
Watch, learn and be amused.

@ Emohawk, haven't had chance to consult the books, been away for a while. Someone else can answer that one!

No-one else playing? :sly:

OK then, the guard of Cyberia was a genetic hybrid called a Snugiraffe.
Part Slug, Part Cobra and Part Giraffe!

Will that do Emohawk?

That's the administrator, isn't it?
I mean the gaurds. They're made from 2 mammals and an insect.
(I know you're going to get this now, I'm just being nitpicky)

Ok, now I see, it was the Dolochimp guards you were after.
Part Dolphin, Part Locust, Part Chimp. 👍

The banana was an Ardvark. The orange was a female something or other. A platypus?
