The Show off Your Workstation/Messy Cables Thread!

Finally got my monitors sorted. Now to get a better camera...

Don't know how I lived without the space before. 4480 Horizontal pixels for the win.

Because of the uprights on my corner desk I only have space for two 19 inchers if I were to get another. Hmm...I got this Dell monitor for $100 before they stopped selling it, so I wonder what I can scrounge one up for now...

Do it. Or take the 19" I have spare if you come down to Australia.

Now with Google Maps it's been definitely an approved purchase.

Though the test discussion of getting another row of 3 ended pretty quickly...

Whoa. Now that's a nice set-up. Is that a GTX480 and Rampage? Need specifics on that crazy RAID and watercooling set-up now!

Thanks!

It's a GTX480, you were correct. The motherboard is actually the EVGA e759 Limited Edition Classified with the nf200 chip.

Processor is i7 920 d0 stepping overclocked to 4.36ghz with HT on.
Ram is G.Skill Tridents ddr3 2000 @ 1660mhz 7/7/8/20/59/1T timings.
OS and major apps such as Lightroom/ Photoshop etc is loaded on a Ocz Vertex Solid state drive.
I have 2x short stroked Western Digital Black 6401AALS in raid 0
And a couple extra drives for backup.. such as a seagate 1.5tb barracuda 7200.11 + a few more.

The watercooling loop is entirely custom.. but main parts as you can see are a Apogee GTZ cpu block, a Danger Den CC480 block, 2x Bitspower black freezer mobo and mosfet blocks which is all cooled by 2x thermochill 120.3 raidators pumped thru tygon tubings with 2 D5 Vario pumps.

The whole rig is powered by a Enermax Galaxy 1250w power supply.

In short.. it's extreme nerd talk. :sly:

@Eek - Curious what keyboard you have there with that Razer mouse.

And my setup at the moment. Third monitor will be running, hopefully, by the end of the week. Waiting on a display port cable. Will put me at 5520 horizontal pixels.

And up on the wall to keep me optimisitc.

It's a Cherry G81, MY switches. Not the best in the world but it'll hold me over till i save up for a hhkb or if a set of mx browns pop up on sale. I might bite the bullet.

I see you have a rk-9000, how you liking it? Did you get it while it was on sale a month back for $80~?

Indeed. It is quite nice to type on and the legends are printed fairly well, though the font isn't as nice as Filco's. Some people have made a big deal out of the logo but it hasn't bothered me much.

However, I've a Filco Tenkeyless on Blues on the way, and I'll be parting with the RK-9000 to a friend for a slight profit. Though now I want a Ducky 9008 though for another full size. But I'll need to get rid of my 6Gv2 first. Or the Kinesis...

So you're really aching for a deuce hotrod roadster, huh? :D

You don't even know :dopey:

I recently bought a new desk. Very happy with the way everything has turned out:

And just in case you were wondering... that is indeed the raunchiest X-Wing on Yavin 4.

Yep, messy cables. Photo's really old though, so I ought to take more up to date one (parts have changed). Of the whole layout, too.

Hey. I like messy cables. I like them more than monster multi-display stations!

Let's see some more nightmares!!

Now this is a serial interface! Notice the wire loop used as a hanger!

Rack-mount ears not up to the job? Just tie the box to something else on the rack!

Here's my setup: :)

Not very tall TV stand for my desk... need to sit on a small stall rather than a chair to use everything. Probably no good for my back, but oh well I'm used to it. Plus I like playing games like COD lower/sitting forwards, so that also works out better - I'm weird.

Trying to keep it tidy is a nightmare though, mainly blamed by my Astro Mixamp which needs 4 different cables plugged into it, including the other cables coming from the front of the PC. :S

And the only decent picture I can find of my rig:

I'm kinda jelly of triple screen I gotta admit.

I'm actually in a dilemma at the moment. As I want a Dell U27 (well, ideally a U3011), but then it'll screw up my set-up. Either way I want to replace the sides for one with equal aspect ratio as the centre, so in time I can surround game.

Built this computer for my parents, which I use when I need to.

It may seem neat and tidy in that last picture but that's wrong:

That's after I tidied up the cables in the case(case has a cable management spot) to clear for more air room.

Moved house so got a new set-up area, tidied up cables (3 monitors + backless table + 5.1 = nightmare). But it's real nice cause I can properly position 5.1 due to the nature of the room.

(Still definitely need a camera upgrade...)

My PC which still needs some more tidying work done to it...
