hmmm i havnt gotten to see Tsuchiya do very much racing recently just know hes still big in the drifting community. while i know the stig does alot of hot laps in almost every type of car including the occasional F1 car when he gets the chance. so i would have to put my vote to the stig.

Well, the STIG... Because "no one" knows if it is "only" one person, is out of the race for me.

So the DRIFT King all the way :)

Greetings from Germany

Kutscher

went for Keiichi since he seems to be a much much more rounded driver, even though the stig might be able to turn a quicker lap and that foe me shows a better drive that you ca adapt....but thats just how i feel.

Edit: after watching that lap he makes things look so easy.

i can add that tsuchiya test cars, race, and make videos from about 25 years... and the stig? from 2002? naaaa no race....

Um...the Stig as a character has been testing cars since 2002, but if you assume that whoever plays the Stig hasn't got an extensive driving/racing history, you'd be pretty off base.

There's never been a direct comparison between the drivers in the same car on the same course. and Stig is a fictional character, likely portrayed by a number of people. Tsuchiya is a real person. There's no real comparison to be made: it's a pointless poll pitting JDMers against fans of Top Gear.

The Stig is Keiichi Tsuchiya...................don't tell anyone else!! haha. But seriously though, the Stig is a character represented by many drivers but there can only be one 'dori dori', its not really a valid comparison. Tsuchiya is a fine driver though, he has raced in many categories and different cars over the years.

i think we are talking about the stig as a character so i don't mind if there are many pro driver that plays the stig, the stig as a character didn't nothing in motorsports compared to keiichi tsuchiya...
but also to me this poll is a bit pointless...

This poll is kinda unfair for 2 reasons:

1. The Stig doesn't do drifting (or at least I haven't seen him do it)

2. Stig is a character played by many drivers while there is only one Keichi Tsuchiya

So I think its no contest to be honest.

This question is weird. Even with his skill, if a middle aged racer like Tsuchiya can beat a much younger formula 1/EX F1 driver like the stig then, damn, i'll be impressed.

There's a high chance that white firesuit STIG isn't just one person anyways

I'll go with the guy who took part in the Japanese Formula Three Championship, Japanese Touring Car Championship (JTCC), the latter whilst driving a Nissan Skyline GT-R in the Group A championship and later a Honda Civic in the Supertouring car championship.

Le Mans

He went on to score a class win and an 8th place overall at the 1995 24 Hours of Le Mans in a Honda NSX. In 1999 of the same race, this time in a Toyota GT-One, during the last hour while co-driver Ukyo Katayama was building up pace to the leading BMW V12 LMR he was forced into the grass by a backmarker privateer's BMW LMP, blowing the tire out. They survived the ordeal and went on to score the fastest lap but were forced to settle for second

Hamilton should have been placed in this poll as well, as he is far faster than the various Stigs.

I'm going to point out blatant facts here, don't care if this is gravedigging since the people that were posting in this topic didn't care if their information was miles off the mark or not. The Stig IS multiple people but not in the sense you guys are thinking, they switch him whenever they feel people are getting close to figuring out who it is to keep the mystery alive, it's not like an every show let's have a new Stig thing.... Also Tsuchiya may be near god mode in Japan but as far as international racing goes he has a LOT of top drivers ahead of him. Also Tsuchiya isn't known for being a DRIFT RACER, he's known for using drifting in events that it usually wouldn't be used in so well done to the idiot further up that doesn't even know the real reason why Tsuchiya is called the "drift king".

PS. Lul at all the butthurt Tsuchiya fans. Double lul at the moron saying about a useless poll pitting JDMers vs Top Gear fans. It's not even like that, Stig is winning because the TWO main people that have been Stig over the years are BOTH better drivers than Tsuchiya, fact. One is a ****ing world champion for ****s sake, Tsuchiya is good only on the Japanese tracks, Stig can drive anywhere so yeah no contest.

@L_Hamilton You know it's easy to make ANYONE sound good if you ONLY point out their successes and not their failures.

@spaghetti Black suit Stig: Perry McCarthy is a British racing driver, who drove in Formula One in 1992 before moving into sportscars, including driving in the 24 Hours of Le Mans five times between 1996 and 2003.
McCarthy also portrayed The Stig in the first two series of BBC motoring show Top Gear.
White suit Stig till 2010: Ben Collins
is a racing car driver from Bristol, England. He has competed in motor racing since 1994 in many categories, from Formula Three and Indy Lights to sportscars, GT racing and stock cars.[2][3][4]
Collins was placed second in the Marlboro Masters Formula 3 championship event in 2000. He set the pace at the 2001 Le Mans 24 hours race in his first season for approximately four hours during the rain at night. After winning the European Stock Car Championship in 2003 ASCAR stock car racing he was signed by PDM Racing to do selected rounds of the 2004 Indy Racing League, but the car never appeared. In 2005, he competed in the British GT Championship in a Porsche 996 GT3, winning races on the way before moving up to the FIA GT Series with Ascari where he led races and scored several pole positions.

In addition to racing, Collins' company Collins Autosport provides precision and stunt driving services, particularly for BBC Television, including Top Gear[2][5][6][7] and Top Gear Live, as well as for the film industry, such as driving James Bond's car in Quantum of Solace[2] and Casino Royale, and Eve Moneypenny's car in Skyfall.

As you can see, they don't constantly change the Stig, each person is the Stig for years at a time and these people have raced on a much higher level than Tsuchiya. Also speaking of diversity and adaptability: from Formula Three and Indy Lights to sportscars, GT racing and stock cars. What does Tsuchiya do? Touge and F1 mostly.
Ben Collins: "He set the pace at the 2001 Le Mans 24 hours race in his first season for approximately four hours during the rain at night." enough said right there, if you lead a race in the rain and darkness, you're a beast. Tsuchiya hates racing in rainy conditions.

Doesn't seem to me like Tsuchiya hates wet weather driving. At 19:17 he's touted as one of the best in wet conditions.

And Tsuchiya didn't go through the normal ranks as many racers have.

We would need to see Tsuchiya do a lap on the TGTT and Stig keep up with Tsuchiya on the Touge. Plus, neither have raced in WRC. Hmm?

My vote for Tsuchiya. I've never seen Tsuchiya take a bus to beat a car.

I love Wikipedia.

Wrong...All the Stigs of time past and parallel universe can actually form together to make some Ultra Golden Skilled Stig that would take over the world with driving skill alone. As much as I like the drift king his powers cant stand up to hive mind Stig.

I would love to see the Stig drives smooth as butter like Tsuchiya-san did with TRD Altezza RS200 in the rain :) That slide was done in a precision glide that recovers on exit like no other driver can do :) I have seen F1 driver slides a car ( from entry to exit - both dry and wet ) and never seen one that can control and exit with extreme smoothness like Dori Dori can. He even can hold smooth controlled slides of a stock Nissan GTR  then I saw the Stig inboad cam at Top Gear Track with Nissan GTR, was a like a rally driver on a gravel

I would say car control on the edge of grip and in between ( edge of losing it ) is Dori Dori expertise. The Professor - Nakaya Akihiko is very close, still can't forget his Miata Wet Track Tire tests / review and his R33 vs R34 GTR gymkhana test, as well as many of his Evo test in the rain and snow :) Epic smooth AYC in action, which makes Evo glides on entry like a Initial D car.

Keiichi is call the Dori King because while racing he was always winning and decided to give himself a handicap(drifting while other grip) and was still winning lol.
One is call the King and the other Stig there is a reason, the King is the King  .
He is the most polyvalent, skills, experience, untouchable driver comparable to Senna.
Leave the BBC and google him, his career .
