Just a quick question - does racing on a near empty tank improve the lap time slightly due to less weight or does it not make any difference in the game?

The final warm up race before Season 3 gets underway
with the usual suspects and some very fast newcomers ...
Quali saw me getting 8th on the grid. Being on the hard compound tyre things were looking good stategy-wise ...

Getting 3rd after a awesome race made me and my Evora grin from ear to ear/mirror to mirror ...

Can't wait for Season 3 to get underway, I really got hooked on driving the very finest of cars Lotus has to offer. With the specs being as close to real life as possible, I'm now officially a Lotus fan! 👍 :)

Wow. Love the pics mate. Hope to get some done myself tonight. It was a great evenings racing.👍👍👍

Great pics Ade, belter of a race, wasn't it?! :trouble:

I'll go and watch the final laps you had, must have been a blast. 👍

OmniusGT
Class presentation as always matey! 👍 :)

Prehaps we should call you 'Jammy' after that last lap drama!

Haha maybe he can borrow my name!!! Those last laps were fab, I knew I was going to struggle on my worn hards against the medium crew at the end but almost held on, but Ade was pressuring and ready to capitalise on any mishap, which he duly did and nipped through. It was really quite funny how I ploughed into sholesy who was already in the wall as you can see on that last pic!!! Crazy!

Oh for shame!!!

I've got lap 49 seared into my brain now.......

Struggled like a muther on the hards but not once did I have an off at last hairpin from slippery curb until THAT lap. May have been checking if Jammy was facing the right way or just admiring the baby blue paint job in my mirror, not sure as I saw wall pretty quick!?!?

Only had been spat out slightly by reverse mini corkscrew chicane before that.

Bloody great racing though guys, glad i found this set of top drivers.

Dan.....when you lapped me (S/F straight) i was just getting out of your way bud, not trying to play about, tried to follow you but am amazed by where you find the extra speed. (I know you is academy badass)

AM I MISSING A TRICK? Was your set up similar in any way to Petros?
What I'm trying to say is..... I never have neutral or positive ride height on any car. Is this something I should be looking at more? Not tried Petros' tune yet.

When tuning for racing, i automatically add -10 ride height after feeling the stock setup and go from there. I gravitate towards hunkering my car to the track without thought it seems.

For a track like cape ring with lots of camber and elevation changes would positive RH have been advantageous?. More I think about it, the more I think yes.

I want to be able to drive this car like an NSX-R LM Road car as you guys seem to be enjoying it more than me. Not giving up or nowt.

Thoughts and tips appreciated.

One more silly thing, and you've prob discussed it before. Shouldn't the 2 tyre compounds be named option and prime but vice versa. Sports Med by FIA reckoning should be the option no? OH dear I've gone all anal.........oh we don't like that!

See you at practice! ADE are we just going to be practicing grand valley?
I need to fight this car less...... sorry for long post guys, but feel very at home hear.

Negative ride height can give you more speed in corners and straight line.
I rearly use it, only on unbumy tracks. It's more important how you set font and rear high.It depends of the track and how you drive. With higher front you have better entry speed , but with higher rear you can press acceleration earlier exiting corner.

There is a lot of this things that can help you stabilaze your car, but i'm not so good in tuning, still learning.I whould recommend you to look here https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=216152&highlight=photo+finish

About my setup, it's not so fast,in race I notice I had too much understeer in last turn of sector 2(maybe I should play with BB during the race) but my car was more stable trought rest of the field. It's all compromise

 Yeah no worries.. I knew you were trying to move over.. I think its always best to not move and let the guy passing decide which side to pass. My tune is nothing special, I will post it later.

Nice pics Ade 👍

Im sorry guys but I have to drop out of this series even though I didnt get to really start . I wont be able to make the time slot on Sunday.

I was looking forward to it for it was a bit different and the challenge was there :(

Sorry about this Ade .

Sorry about dropping out Ade on Sunday, had to answer the door and when I went to re join and press continue I hit exit instead . 🤬 cold callers.
Was looking forward to the race and looks like you all had a great race 👍.

By any chance is anyone able to make the replay available please so I can have a watch.

I chose the prime/option description, as I wanted the prime tyre to always be the faster of the 2 we will use each race. There is always a set minimum number of laps that you must use the slower tyre for, (25% race length) but you may choose to do more than the set amount of laps in each race on the slower tyre, that is your option. I hope that makes sense.

Grand Valley will be the venue for the first race, so the practicing will take place there. This is so everyone can get really used to the car for race 1. Thats also the reason why I did 3 special races, so that by the time S3 starts, the racing will be as close as possible.

Glad that you feel at home here, we are a nice friendly bunch.

No worries mate, these things happen. I will try to get the replay in DropBox tonight for you.👍👍👍

Thats exactly how I see it ADE, the very use of the word 'prime' in my eyes would mean the quicker tyre. F1 seemed to name these opposite up to the new tyre situation in the last couple of seasons. Always wondered why.

Thanks Petros for the link, as said it's always a compromise isn't it. I always try to set up for what i think is used IRL, thought positive RH would only ever be used for rally set up? Front higher than rear just does not compute in my tiny mind. Or should I tune to GT5 physics purely, going against my natural instincts.

Thanks also Dan, love to see your set up for Cape ring. Not after straight set up robbery but this has always been my achilles heel, usually stumble upon something but was amazed that the Evora being an MR was so difficult with understeer at first, i always like a bit of oversteer (sharp turn in) for my style.

Will try both Petros' and Dan's set ups and go back to Cape, just to open my eyes really guys. Going forward this should help me with the different tracks coming up in the season.

Cheers again crazy cats

I used to do it until I realise it dont have sense, it's a big game problem, some things are just oposite.
Best is just to try feel the difference, but for that you must be consistent with your lap times.

Ade, tnx for the race replay,I'm gona watch it too:)

Thanks guys for the advice, much appreciated.

Petros - thats what I needed to know mate, GT5 sometimes is backwards, the Evora certainly didn't behave the same way as I approach other MRs when tuning.

Top draw.

Have to disregard logic for faster laps ehh. Testing and more testing.

Mental Rig ADE, puts my wheel stand pro, leather seat come beanbag (ends up like personal moulded seat though) and missus wedging me up to TV perched on sofa to shame..... lmfao.

Cheers. I take it you must have seen the pics on my profile. Those are old pics, and it has since been upgraded with the Evora Recaro.
