You know, in the middle section of the race I thought I was in with a shot at a pretty decent finish. I think at one point I was running in 4th!!!

Fantastic to see you've dusted of your camera Cobani, great picture 👍

Well, that was a really fun race, especially the finish with Ade, one tenth of a second damn. But great fun as always.

I started on the mediums and thought I was doing ok until about halfway round the first lap  I was all over the place and naturally fell all the way to last place. I was fine with that since I knew I would be off the pace for missing two races but not that slow :P. I think I was at least 45 seconds behind when I pitted on lap 10.

After I pitted I threw on the softs and since there were no cars around me, I was free to take it easy on my tyres and drive quickly and carefully. I eventually caught and passed Rosen after his pit and I think it was around Lap 23-26 were most of the midfield started to pit so I managed to climb all the way up to 4th with my one-stop. But I knew I wouldn't stay there. I think I managed to get to lap 30 or 31 until Cpt D caught me and then I made an error which allowed Grand Prix and Third to catch me. After that it was damage limitation as Goodwolf caught me soon after and I dropped to 8th.

Then on lap 35 Ade caught me and we had some fun for those last 2 laps. I did get in his way a fair bit purely because of how bad my tyres were and also because of my weird line around this track but Ade still managed to pip me to the line at the end, good stuff mate 👍

Now I see the mountain I have to climb to get back in the hunt for my Maiden Victory in The Sunday Cup, I can't wait for the challenge.

I was watching some of the replay earlier and it looked like you got off to a pretty decent start.. 👍

I did see Ade pull a lovely pass on you on lap 3 in 100R.. Very nice Ade 👍

I really want to get some video editing software to put together a little Sunday Cup movie. :D

Thanks, any insight on how I fell down, so to speak, would be appreciated 👍

Well what a race we had last night. I couldnt get to sleep afterwards, too hyped up. I have had a very quick look through the replay to gather the info for the tables. I think I was involved in battles nearly all the way through. I started on the grid in 7th place after qualifying on the softs and got of to a good start. The first 15 laps I was constantly battling with Capt.D, GC255, Goodwolf and Socal, whilst trying to catch Cobani. My intention was to run 13/9/14, but that went out of the window. I only looked at the laps when Capt.D pitted, and realized it was lap 15, so I pitted the next lap whilst in 3rd place. My pit bought me out right in front of Capt D and Grand_Prix. I then spent the next 6 laps battling with Grand_Prix, whilst Capt.D got away. We slowly caught up with GC255 and then Third joined the party. This carried on until lap 25, when the Alien came from nowhere to take 3rd place from me. I pitted on lap 26, to do the last 10 on the softs again, and had some great battles with Goodwolf. I couldnt match his pace, and he slowly crept away, but then there was Dowlin. The last few laps were intense, and I just got past him, but got on the throttle a bit too early coming out of T1 on the last lap. Dowlin retook the position, and I spent the rest of the lap pushing so hard. I only managed to get past on the final turn of the race. It was a sprint to the line, and I only got over 5/100ths of a second before him. Absolutely awesome race guys, thanks for taking part. The Sunday Cup Rocks.

I didn't watch enough to say.. But I can take a look if you like.. Didn't you say the 1 stopper didn't really pay off?

Didn't feel like it did, but perhaps I needed to take some brave pills to give me an edge mid race before I pitted? Then again Cobani and others seemed to make it work. I'm just trying to determine why it seemed to fail for me.

Found this. Can this be one part of the answer? (Or am I on the wrong track? :):dunce: )

"I have noticed that the differences in pit times is influenced by your pit box location.
i.e. which side of Start / Finish line.
The game appears to make a compensation for cars further away from pit exit, after pit crew have done their work.
When cars enter pit lane -- no problem -- only after tyre change / fuel has been completed.
Difference in times varies from track to track and cars in race.
This can result in very large variables -- 10 - 15 seconds between cars per stop."

Source: Gran-Turismo-5-Pit-Stops

The one pit stop I did felt and appeared to take the same amount of time as socal and Goodwolf, so I'm not sure that is the case this time around. I think I was just slowly bleeding the time gained by a one stop due to my inexperience.

WOW, what a race!!!!

It certainly was, although my first lap was a mess, getting sideways and then running wide in 100R putting me to the back, the chase was on! I was up to 10th by the start of lap two and in the action. Lap 7 and I caught up to Ade and a battle for position that lasted for another 7 laps whilst chasing down Bo in third place, great stuff! I stuck to my strategy and pitted for mediums at the end of lap 14.

Rejoining the race, and it's Rob and myself into the first corner. It's the same scenario again next lap, this time Ade is joining us into the first corner after his pit exit, and I'm surprised to be soon pulling a gap.

Into the pits at the end of lap 24, this time for softs. Out on track again and it's a calmer last stint, passing Dowlin on lap 20 to take 4th place to the finish, a good result considering the start!

Congratulations to Dan on another win and Adam and Bo for podiums.

The dive into turn one

All round safely but not without a few mistakes and changes of position

Capt Gary pushes his luck a bit too much, Does Ade look worried?

The turn into the F chicane

All 12 in the stack

GC Holding it together for now

A little love tap and a slide for Rob

Let the slipstreaming commence

A change in the lead

GTP_ADE

Dan, back where he's used to sitting

Dowlins work laid out before him

Cobani Strutting some impressive pace in his tangerine speedo

A busy Few corners, and not on the first lap

GC running wide and loosing a position

But manages to take advantage of Socals misfortune later

Ade battling Capt Gary

A couple of other small battles

Dowlin running on his own

Third starts the first round of pitting

Followed by Dowlin

Capt Gary keeping up the chase

Socal leaves GC out on his own

ADE and Capt Gary are still at it

Rosen and GC battle it out

Hancock

Anyone got any ideas for a sponsor?

Anyone for a threeway?

Rosen and GC with Hancock? this is unfamiliar territory

Two Garys, up close and personal

Third pokes his head out and starts making waves

I think I can see Dan grinning

Another busy corner? this is happening a lot this race

That looks like purple paint on your door Ade, sorry about that

This could be very interesting or get very messy

Three into the pitlane

And three out

Cobani's Tangerine speedo is bigining to flag

Ade I think Robs bodywork needs some attention

GC's position chase ends in smoke

Third and Dowlin making good progress

The only lappin this time out

36 laps, strategy, planning and effort and it all comes down to a drag finish between Ade and Dowlin

Sunday Cuppers. For the first time tonight, I tagged racers on the facebook page. The views on the page rocketed. Below is the pic Cobani took after the race, with the amount of views shown. This is excellent as the pic had only been up for half an hour. Capt.D's album has also had as many hits. At this rate The Sunday Cup will go viral.

I second that! I thought GC and I had a good battle for a while early in the race. Late in the race it looked like he would track me down but he spun in turn 1 close to the end of the race and was not able to make up the distance.

Thanks I enjoyed our repeated battles throughout the race, never had the same result twice 👍. Our pace was largely similar and had I not sacrificed some ground following Goodwolf into the pits, to prevent contact -putting me square in your pit entry path- of which, at the time, I was unaware. I could have maintained a lead of around 5-6 seconds on my 1 stop strategy.
