I don't really see what people's problem is.

Everyone's problem is that this is one of only two officially supported wheels. We also desire a "real life" simulation wheel and had high hopes that this wheel would do the trick... it doesn't and we are unhappy.

It's a premium wheel, that from everyone I have heard from (insidesim racing/a few select individuals across racing boards etc) bridges the gap between G25's and Ecci's etc.

But it's NOT a premium wheel, it's only a premium price. It's missing the shifter and it's clutch doesn't work, it only works with a single game. This is far from "premium" IMHO.

Do people on here realise that you don't HAVE to buy this wheel to play the game?

See above, this wheel is 1 of only 2 officially supported wheels. This thread acts as a warning to people who think that a $600 wheel will provide a full "i'm driving a car" feeling like they might expect based on price, most of us here think it wont.

.
Nonsense

Look at that. Only a wheel €1500.
And you'll say., no, that's not a premium wheel, it only works on pc, and doesn't have pedals or shifter?! You're simply talking nonsense.
A premium wheel needs mostly premium pedals, you need to buy them separately. Or a shifter, separately. The higher youi go in this niche market the fewer you get, but the morepremium and quality you'll go.

I'd bet that wheel easily eats any regular consumer wheel like a G27 or Fanatec GT3RS..

But you've never used it?

Don't be so utterly thick. You've already decided how rubbish it is and you've never even seen one in the flesh let alone used one.

Thank god official sites aren't stupid enough to review products before they've even got one.

The guys got a point, you're judging it yet you haven't tried it.
Don't mind people talking about the price but as soon as you try talk about quality thats just unvalid.

Oh guys, who needs some pedals?
http://www.lm-vertrieb.de/cat/product_info.php?cPath=21_26&products_id=60
Just €989.00

Or this gear stick?
http://www.sim-gear.com/794354.html at $200

Saying the Thrustmaster T500 not prmium is simply nonsense. The hiogher you get into sim racing, the more you need to buy separately..

So combined with this wheel:
http://www.lm-vertrieb.de/cat/produ...id=30&osCsid=5d824801d3a5c28a72b27a5ab5925870

You'd come to a price of around €2700

THAT's what I call premium..
What about adding a Frex SimConMotion and Frex handbrake?

A regular premium wheel costs more than the T500 RS, doesn't come with pedals and is PC only.

you should rethink your definition of "premium".

But you've never used it?

I don't have to use it to know
1) its not the size I want (30cm is not the size of a real wheel)
2) it doesn't have the components I want (clutch doesn't work, hshifter doesn't exist)

Sure the forcefeedback and the smoothness of rotation will be great, If these are the only things you judge based on, I fully agree that the device is "premium" ... I expect those pedals will be damn good too.

but because of the things I've listed I guarantee that the experience wont be the same as sitting in a real car... that's what I judge as premium.

In that case there isn't a premium wheel in the world...

That could be the problem, deep down they really love to get this wheel but then they have to talk themselves out of it by bring up the price. So what we could be see on this forum is one half of a person nitpicking the wheel trying to silent the other half that is saying "I must have this wheel".
I wonder how many had hoped this wheel was crap.

Uxi
Anyone go by a Frys recently and ask them?

Fry's Houston will receive their 2 (per store) on Jan 19th according to the computer as of yesterday. Even a printed quote woul dnot permit me to pay yet - that is how far out they are expecting their stock to be.

Listed at $599.00. $648 plus change out the door.

Sarasti, I think you are pretty fair with your comparison and I think time will show that you are probably on the mark, but it's just too early to tell still.

I just can't wait until some people get their hands on it and we see how everything stands up.

Thanks.

Really this is a problem, but Darin has not turned the 3 steel plates for each pedal, and not had move the aluminium base, it is clear that the pedals do not have the angle shown in the picture:

pedalsz.jpg

We must to wait for a more detailed review (from ISR or other people) to see all the pedals features, but probably Thrustmaster should fix this.

EDIT:

In the video test shown in Facebook, with the plates turned, the pedals seems a little less angled in the "GT" position:

In any case, if you get the same angle inverting the pedals, have no sense (only stetic).

Good catch, rebla. 👍

For normal cars, I think this statement is correct. Make me think Im sitting in a BMW or a Ford Mustang, and I'll call you premium.

This frex thing looks like it fully simulates F1 steering and you can get a full 8gear shifter and real pedals (sure they are sold separately, but they exist... their simply isn't a shifter for the T500RS)

although I think the price is ridiculous for just a casual gamer... I think that setup qualifies as premium F1 steering column, it probably feels like your in a real F1 racer... however you have to make sure you say its specifically F1... its not going to feel like driving a normal car (need a real 360degree 1.5ft wheel for this).

I wanted this wheel to be great. I'm in the market for a product that I can use to learn how to drive a manual transmission IRL.

Still not listed on Amazon.

Ferrari 458, Corvette ZR1, Mustang V6. Which can you afford? Are you whining because the others are out of your price range? I think not.

Don't freak out when you see Ferraris with only paddle shifters.

There's no product out there that will simulate clutch feel at all. The way to learn how to drive a standard transmission is to practice in real life. There is no training tool.

In this hype noise we can easily forget about facts...

1. Thrustmaster T500RS pedals are not as good as Fanatec's Club Sport Pedals.
Let's say that we need to buy LoadCell (approx. 60 Euro) and mod Thrustmaster's pedals to compete with CSP.
CSP are better than G27 pedals ( CSP made out of metal) yet with the nixim mod I can brake just as good with g27 pedals as CSP.
I only got the nixim mod because the week I was going to buy Andy's load cell he stop taking orders(back in April). I had CSP for a while yet wanted a load cell when I use my G27 on PS3. Nixim mod was very cheap so I got it until I could order a load cell. Now after using this mod I found I really didn't need a load cell anymore. Since Thrustmaster pedals are design with the mod in mind (unlike g27) so it could be good enough that a load cell isn't really needed.

It seems the black piece must be turned with the plate to get the correct angle:

The piece is not plain:

Then, the pedals gets an angle near to a real car (still some more angled, it seems... ).

I like this wheel (I´m waiting for the shifter release to order mine).

good points. Yes, it probably is a case of "sour grapes" for many people.
very sad that it gets them all worked up into a lather.
:indiff:

So the pc simmers are not allowed to use this wheel?! At least that seems to be what you're thinking..

Are you serious? did you even watch the video?

So far you can only use it with GT5, so yes its a waste of money for me and i class myself as a hardcore PC simmer.

Most of my proper racing is done on PC on proper sims, if this wheel actually functioned on other platforms i would most likely get it because for $600 if the FFB is that good it would be worth it.

but $600 to be able to play it on one game on one platform? hell bloody NO.

Under stand something people $600
No Shifter-It's all good the will make one later
Only works with one game-Ir's all good they will update it
No Clutch-It's all good i'll just use F1/Falppy Pattle shift style cars from now own

But for $600 us dollars it better not break have a firm wear problem and the shifter better be beyond top notch. Or no deal for me and I have the money to waste on it.

That's better than I got. My local Fry's was like... "We don't know what you're talking about. I don't see anything in my computer."
