I expected the 2 motors out of the 3 on the GT2 fanatec to just act as vibrations motors...

the main motor being the Mabuchi RS 550 Motor

I was thinking about getting G27 as my next wheel, but i can't see it getting fully supported by the game in the near future with this thing being endorsed as the official high end wheel :(
 
I have very little doubt the wheel will be the best console wheel on the market, I even imagine that the wheel might rival the very top end wheels for PC, what I am certain about is that the wheel will be unrivalled on GT5, I believe PD have made GT5 to favour this wheel but......

No matter how good the wheel is the pedals will make or break it. Look at the insidesimracing battle of wheels, they all tested well with comparable performance and results. What we know is a good set of pedals can give you a massive advantage to the point where using them is almost like cheating. So no matter how much better the T500 RS wheel is over the Fanatec if the clubsport pedals turn out to be better Fanatec will still be the better setup to go for. We should know for sure soon enough.
 
I don't think it will be +500 Euros when released. Let's keep in mind GT official website displays the DFGT at 160 Euros and we can buy it online here under 100 Euros, or better. It's less than 2/3 the official price. 2 weeks ago Amazon even had some deals for it at 49 Euros !
Im sure the T500RS will be under 400 Euros within a month, just a bit more expensive than a full G27.
 
I'm really wanting one of these, but if I get one internationally from Amazon or similar I'll probably get a power cable not compatible here. I also hold the fear that somehow we as australians will see the 100% price rise for some total garbage reason. Our dollar is stronger than the USD yet I can see this wheel ending up being $800AUD plus.

Sucks to get ripped by every damn company making a wheel for absolutely no reason whatsoever. Logitech is the only one not going overboard on charging us extra which means a G27 is still the most viable option.

Fanatec GT2 = $499USD - $799AUD
Logitech = $299USD - $425AUD
T500 RS = $599USD - ???

Go figure...

awesome! At this moment I am leaning toward the Fanatec Porsche GT2 because it is compatible with my PC, PS3 and Xbox360. I have RACE Pro but never played it because I am a failure at driving games using a gamepad.

Don't bother with Race Pro if you got a decent PC. Get Race On instead. PC is the still better when it comes to racing games.
Here's some PC advantages:
1) Triple screen support for every single racing game including older games.
2) Most support TrackIr (if you don't have triple screen)
3) Mods which improves the game like AI in F1 2010 for example
4) You can use more than one controller device , for example I can use my CSP with my G27. (At least now Gt5 allows using both a controller and wheel)
5) For the most part PC sims focus more on physics than graphics. Rfactor/Iracing (Also PC sims are design more with a wheel in mind while consoles with a controller. GT5 may be an exception.)

I miss an huge feature in PC-Sims... Online leaderboards... That´s the most funny thing to me in any game... Any game out there?

I don´t know but I also must say I´m an graphic addicted and it feels worse to play games like GTR2 or rfactor... You don´t get this GT5 polished feeling...

Been that way since GT4 buddy, why do you think so many people find challenges harder on controllers?

The newer games on PC look great. Shift on PC was great looking--the car interiors on PC are superior to GT5 interiors and Shift 2 should be even better. Dirt2 on PC is also a looker. I think iRacing looks very good too. It isn't exciting but it is clean and crisp in the graphics area and recently received a lighting model upgrade that improved it. The iRacing team will continue to improve the graphics in the future as well.

I also have a Xbox360 gathering dust since I do not want to play RACE Pro or Forza with the pathetic gamepad.

I must say I do love good graphics. However, when playing against a good challenging AI I find myself not care so much about the graphics. And when I play against a crappy AI with excellent graphics I find myself asking why they could not divert some of the resources to make the AI a better challenge!
I guess you could say that 'I want my cake and to eat it, too!'

If anyone is interested, I have heard about the Hall Effect sensor before. The Logitech G25/G27 uses an optical sensor. This sensor is attached to one of the force feedback motor. Basically, this sensor uses a sender and a receiver. It has a interrupting device. This is a plastic slotted circle. It interrupts the light from the sender and this is how wheel position is calibrated.

A Hall effect sensor is of much better quality. It is used in automotive applications. If you have ever heard of a crankshaft or camshaft position sensor, these are hall effect devices. FWIU, there is a magnet on a mechanical rotating device (on a car it would be the crankshaft and camshaft) As the device rotates, the magnet comes across the sensor and activates a position check. On a car it is cylinder #1 calibration. This particular sensor has to be ultra reliable and durable on a car because it is responsible for telling the computer when to open the fuel injectors and fire spark plugs. It also is used on the camshaft to calibrate engine timing advance and retardation for maximum performance and maximum fuel economy.

The importance of this sensor indicates how high quality the Hall effect system is. This will be a much better improvement to the optical sensor most of the current wheel devices use.
