What about on the east coast? No Frys here.

Well, yet more incentive to move south ;)

Lower taxes, warmer weather and 3 Fry's in greater Houston alone

Call Fry's up, see if they will ship one your way. It shows up on their webstore.

*edit*

Someone asked about the threaded mounting holes, here theya re comapred to the G25 (I presume the G27 is the same)

The manual specs MAX length 12mm M6 bolts for mounting.

As a comparison the 2 pairs of GT2 mounting holes are about 165mm apart.

RC, I don't think your running with a shifter are you.
How you managing the triangle reverse situation on your new wheel?

It sucks.

Period.

Not coming to market with a shifter was a huge flaw by Thrustmaster, and I have a suspicion they wont bring one to market either. The few of us that want one wont justify the expense in their eyes I bet.

Make no mistake, they are in it for profit first and 'community" second ;)

Hmm do other shifter work? Or are you just unaware of any.
Can't see them not doing a shifter.

There is no port to attach a shifter. The clutch doesnt work at this time - I think they would have enabled the clutch already if they where going to bring the shifter out any time soon.

Hopefully they will prove me wrong, but seeing the little "money saving" shortcuts they have already taken, I wont hold my breath.

The screws/bolts/nits they used/included are some of the lowest quality I have ever seen outside of an Autozone bargain bin. They provided the hexbolts for the "brake mod" - 2 where so badly moulded the allen/hex key barely fit it.

The countersunk hex screws for mounting the diamond tread plat are already rounding out even using the mild steel/potmetal allen/hex key they provided.

You dont do that unless you are trying to pinch pennies. Let's hope the mechanics and electronics do not reflect similar "savings attempts".

I am going with a 95% funcitonality and 85% presentation so far. The little details they have botched are not what you expect for a $600.00 consumer gadget, then again, even at $600 they dont have much room for profit so lets hope they sell a whole lot to give them the incentive to continue development and support going forward.

It just seems banking on GT5 alone is such a wild shot by Thrustmaster - the MUST be eyeing the other games and PC market as well.... right??

I am very interested in the T500RS as a G25 replacement (Can't stand the Fanatec Porsche wheel looks) but without the shifter unit available it will be a no sale.

I'm kinda glad im sticking with the G27 and i really really really really hope they will recognize, for the communities sake, the need for full compatibility of the G25/G27 wheel in GT5 👍

I'm really diggin' the T500 RS but the more i read about it the more i back away from it and the more confused i get on why kaz didn't just let logitech and/or fanatec etc. improve on their wheels....at least make the changes that are needed and let the G27 be the official wheel IMO...

Didn't someone just post on here that Thrustmaster has said, via their Facebook page, that the shifter will be a separate USB device?

If that's true maybe we would be able to use other USB shifters with the PS3 in the future?

I'd love that, but I believe I remember Thomas saying that it's much easier to get the 360 support than it is the PS3. Maybe licensing issues or something.

Then it will rob both USB ports on the PS3. :indiff:

Buy a USB splitter. Problem solved. I got one, works just fine.

It's also known as a USB hub.

You can just get a cheap 4-1 usb hub. My guess is there some kind of advantage of having the shifter it's own usb instead of plugging into the wheel. We know that if CSP are plug in by ubs instead of the wheel on the PC you get about 4 times more resolution. The shifter will more likely be supported by GT5 yet I still think PC will take more advantage of this wheel features more than consoles.

So the screws are low quality on the pedals? From the quality of all the other components, to me that still doesn't seem like a huge deal. Honestly, how "bad" is the quality really of the screws RC? Is everything else about the wheel, would YOU say, of excellent quality?

And it's a joke hearing people say it's "overpriced", from what I've gathered and seen and read, if someone's definition of "overpriced" means a $600 can compete w/ $1,000 to $2,000 wheels, that's a sad joke.

Kudos to Thrustmaster for making - again from what I've found - an amazing wheel at such a price, and an amazing wheel regardless of price, though it sounds like the screws could have been better quality for just the pedals, right RC? But that's such a small issue/area that if the quality of everything is exceptional then that's excusable I think. What's your take on the rest of the wheel's quality vs the G25/27 and the GT2? Build quality and feel? YOu already said that it's a cut above both, so nvm then, haha.

The quote of Thrustmaster working with Codemasters and EA came from insidesimracing in the comments on their youtube video, they have been communicating with Thrustmaster so I assume this info cam from TM.

Thrustmaster have stated in the discussions on the FB T500RS page that the shifter is coming and it will be USB, they also said you will be able to use it with a 2.0 Hub after asked if it will require both USB port and asked if the pedals would plug into the shifter either directly or at the cable however I did see a CES video where it was stated that the shifter might plug into the pedal cable somehow but I'm struggling to see how it is possible (the pedals might piggyback on the shifter cable though) and it contradicts the information in the T500RS facebook page.

The shifter is coming without a doubt IMO, they cant go back on it now because they have said it will come and people have purchased the wheel on that promise. I do however believe that shifter development did not start until the wheel was finished, I think the reason TM reps are being so vague about the shifter is because they know nothing about it other than it is coming and the reason I think they know nothing about it is because it does not exist. So far all we know for sure is that it will be USB and that it will be both a sequential and H shifter.

Yeah, I have one on my PC actually and I will probably have to go this route even though It will look a bit messy where my PS3 sits.

@RC45 We'll have to agree to disagree, things may be different where you live.

Just make sure to let me know who you work for if you are in the software of peripheral industry so I can make sure I never buy any of their products.

--------------------------------------

There are much nicer USB hubs for the PS3 than the one above.

I also have a Logitech G27 and I hate to be the one to tell you, but I think we have a Snow Ball’s chance in HE “Double Hockey Sticks” to get full support, the Amazing Mr. Kaz has obviously made a decision based on politics to not support the G27 as the official wheel, I know a lot of people thought it would be the logical choice but apparently there are other factors that we will never know about.

It took less than 7 months to go from idea to delivery on this wheel, Kaz wanted a better wheel after his experience at Nurburgring. I think a shifter will take a little less than this. As for a cue of the quality look at your wheel. The same ridiculous comments were made about the wheel when no one had seen it, Thrustmaster told us it will be Warthog quality and it is, why would the shifter be any different now.

As much as I appreciate your thoughts about what you have the more you post the less interest I have in what you have said about the wheel because I can see that your view about a lot of things is somewhat unique.
