Any Tool fans around here?

Been a huge fan of the band since Undertow, and find that they're one of the few i've never grown tired of. With amazing lyrics creating powerful songs with actual messages, easily making them one of the greatest bands of our life time in my opinion.

Quick question though, I heard in another thread about a 2006 CD release of the band, is it confirmed, or has Maynard moved on to A Perfect Circle without looking back?

It looks like there will definitely be a Tool release sometime this year. When that time is, it's not known...

It's confirmed that Tool are releasing a new album, and it is highly possible that it will be released in May. There has been a lot of angered fans that have lashed out at Maynard, claiming that he's focusing too much on A Perfect Circle, and if I'm not mistaken, he replied telling the fans that he is, in fact, spending more time with APC currently.

I think the word "currently" is a glimmer of hope. Besides, I just think this is how Maynard is deciding to work: creating speculation of moving off from Tool, and coming back with a surprise album. I personally believe that he will come back and spend more time with Tool after the release. I suppose it's not easy coping with demand for two bands with such large followings.

Anyway, that date is not official, as far as I recall. However, it is a most likely date for the release.

Thats awesome. After the second APC album, I thought we'd never see another Tool CD.

Anyone ever been to a concert for any of Maynards projects?

I kinda like it aswell. The lyrics, melodies and the atmosphere are great, but i'm not satisfied with the voice of the singer. The voice of the singer is usually my greatest rant in many bands.

Wow, Maynards voice is what made Tool... His range, tone, and vocal stamina are what set him apart from other singers...

BTW, there is already a Tool thread...

Although I cannot find it, due to the new fangled search function (which is crap, IMO)

I have been a Tool fan since Opiate, and I even listenned to some C.A.D and TexAns (Maynards bands prior to Tool)... I am eagerly awaiting the new album, and I am hoping for a slightly more hard edged album, than Lateralis... Something a bit closer to Undertow, or Aenema... Tool is supposed to be about releasing agression, so I am hopeful the band will get back to their roots with their next offering... I know a lot of Tool fans have been writing the band about this issue...

I wonder of Alex Grey will do the cover art again... I hope so, he is one of my favorite artists of all time...

4 Tool concerts and 3 APC concerts...

Hmmm... Strange, the original Tool Fanclub is not showing up... That thread had been around for quite some time... Yet, a thread I made (shortly after joining) that was a double of the aforementioned thread (and thus, was closed), is still there...

Oh well... I suppose this can be the new Tool Fan Thread... It does have the proper name (The official Tool website is called "The Tool Shed")...

;)

Yeah, thats why I named the thread what I did.
I searched, and found nothing, but I knew if there was one already, i'd be pointed in the right direction.
I can't wait for the new album, whenever it does come out, but I agree with you about wanting it a bit more like Aenema or Undertow then Lateralis, which in my opinion was nothing more then a mix or cross over from Tool to APC.
Haven't been to a concert for either yet, but my friends all have, since lucky me had to work both times they've gone. I heard its quite the experience, and if they tour even remotely close, i'll be there, whether i'm suppose to work or not.

Anyone know where to buy Tool posters, or wall art? Lots of places sell the shirts, but i've never been able to find anything else.

That's the unofficial Tool site; the official Tool website is www.toolband.com.

I expect the release to be this spring; apparently a similar sticker was placed on the Salival DVD package, and Lateralus was released five months later.

Oops... You're absolutely correct...

I was listening to Undertow today in my car, and the opening to Sober got me thinking, Tool usually has some amazing openings. Anyone have any favorites?

Sober has to top my list right now, it'll stay caught in my head long after the song ended.

Push It (live)
Parabol(a)
No Quarter (it's a cover, but still)

To name a few...

Though, I doubt God would follow the same lyrical content.

Most likely not, but have you ever noticed that Tool lyrics almost read like the bible? I mean, they all a message, but its something you have to piece together by listening to the lyrics. ie. Stinkfist, H, and many others.

Tool church hymns... that is an excellent idea. Or how about Richard Cheese doing some covers of Tool songs? I'm sure they'd be great.

As a drummer, I think the opening to Ticks and Leeches is totally cool. I like the slow build up of Lateralus, too. Duke once mentioned something about a different way that the songs on Lateralus could be ordered to give it a whole new effect; anyone have any details?

I'd have to agree with the Lateralus comment. Even Aenima, if listened to from start to finish, will almost read like a book, or story, when you listen too it. Changing the order of the "chapters" would obviously change the outcome of the story.

Personally, I like Lateralus... I thought it was a great album... Although, it came across as a mix between Tool and APC... Which is fine... I like APC... Though, from Maynard's Own mouth, "Tool is about releasing aggression, hence the name of the band"... This is something that seemed to not fully be the case with Lateralus... I love everything from Classical to Electronic, to Metal, and thus, I get enjoyment out of the album nonetheless... Still, the Metal lover in me wants to hear that aggression again... We have APC if we want to hear softer metal/rock... Tool should be the more aggressive of the two... I hope the band has been listenning to the fans... Even though, I'm sure a lot of it they just ignore (as would I), and go about making the music they feel like making at the time...

Thats crazy, thanks for the info. Listening too it before, you could always tell something was different about it. Going to try it out this afternoon, hopefully works out for me like it did for him and my brain explodes all over my computer when I hear it.
Well, not really, but i'm sure it'll blow my mind in one way or another.

Great band, although I just have a hard time enjoying Aenima any more. I used to love it, but the more I listen now, the more disappointing it is for me :(

Anyone know who Eulogy is written about? I've heard Henry Rollins, but can anyone confirm?
Pretty powerful song to sing about someone if you think about it.

I believe Danny once said its about L. Ron Hubbard (the founder of scientology).

I could see how that fits, more so then H. Rollins. I had just heard it was about him on a site, giving the reason that Tool and Rollins had a falling out after Bottom. Some things just didn't fit though, while others did, but thats just Tool, they give you the pieces and make you put it together.
