It's confirmed that Tool are releasing a new album, and it is highly possible that it will be released in May. There has been a lot of angered fans that have lashed out at Maynard, claiming that he's focusing too much on A Perfect Circle, and if I'm not mistaken, he replied telling the fans that he is, in fact, spending more time with APC currently.

I think the word "currently" is a glimmer of hope. Besides, I just think this is how Maynard is deciding to work: creating speculation of moving off from Tool, and coming back with a surprise album. I personally believe that he will come back and spend more time with Tool after the release. I suppose it's not easy coping with demand for two bands with such large followings.

Anyway, that date is not official, as far as I recall. However, it is a most likely date for the release.

Yes, the new album has been been mastered as of last month, although an official release date hasn't been given yet. People close to the band do expect it to be out sometime this year, with most sources saying that it will be near May as you indicated, which usualy tends to be the month most bands like to release new albums.

As for the time spent away from TOOL. It was mainly due, as far as I can understand, to contract problems with TOOL and their original lable. Apparently the company never had a renewal option on their original contract... As a result, we almost never got Lateralus at all. At any rate, with these conflicts and still full of creative juices, Maynard had little or no option but to seek employment elsewhere... as did the other members of the group with side projects. Maynard's only problem was that he was blessed/cursed with, as you said, two bands that grew large and devoted fan bases... Though given the choice, I think 90% of APC's fan base would choose to have TOOL over APC if one of the bands had to go away for a while.

All that to say that they've settled their differences with the lable and are now back at doing what they do best... Making great music... Though many srouces say a "sound" change may not site well with hard core fans. However, I'm thinking it'll be a little more APC, due to the airplay that the band has enjoyed since Maynard started to play with them as well. Keep your fingers and toes crossed that it makes it out on time...

P.S. Check out Wikipedia for tons of info on the band... Really good read.

I was listening to Undertow today in my car, and the opening to Sober got me thinking, Tool usually has some amazing openings. Anyone have any favorites?

Sober has to top my list right now, it'll stay caught in my head long after the song ended.

Schism... The Patient... Ticks and Leaches (just plain amazing all over)... New Version Push It (live)... Parablo/Parabola... Intermission(lol)... Forty Six and 2...

There are just too many... They're all incredible as far as I'm concerned...

Thats the best news I heard all day, thanks!

Now i'll be counting down the days till they start the tour, however long that will be.

TRACK LISTINGS FOR 10,000 DAYS

Here's the track listing for the new TOOL ALBUM entitled 10,000 DAYS set to be released on MAY 2nd, 2006.

Vicarious
Jambi
Wings For Marie (Pt 1)
10,000 Days (Wings Pt 2)
The Pot
Lipan Conjuring
Lost Keys (Blame Hofmann)
Rosetta Stoned
Intension
Right In Two
Viginti Tres

Yep... I saw that the other day... There seems to be an interesting theme, having to do with societies that are overtaken (Lipan, and Jambi in particular), and/or misleading information surounding these societies... Although, this could very well be a metaphor about USA's current situation... Also, the track "Viginti Tres" I believe is translated to "23" Viginti being "20"... I wonder what that's all about... I did a little searching for the name "Hofmann", and came up with some interesting results... Dr. Albert Hofmann, was the first person to synthesize LSD... Knowing Tool's past and obsession with LSD, this may be what that track is refering to... Whatever the reasoning, I'm sure this album is going to be just as enigmatic and esoteric as Lateralus... I hope the aggression of Undertow also makes it's presence known...

Interesting insight into that, Sean. I'm glad to have an exact release date, too. Looks promising, but we'll have to wait and see.

Thanks for the news, Ben.

What can I say, I'm a Tool nerd... Wait, that sounds kind of dirty doesn't it?...

After further searching, I am almost positive the track "Lost Keys" is about something regarding Dr. Albert Hofmann... The man revolutionized the study and process of synthesizing (and isolating) chemicals, especially psychedelic properties, from organic substances... He accidentally injested some of his synthesized LSD (through his fingers) and found himself in a strange new state... Later on, he worked with many other scientists, experimenting (often on themselves, with huge doses) and recording their findings in the scientific journals of the time... Judging by Tool's use of exerpts from a Timothy Leary interview on the "Salival" album, and Maynards particular obsession with mind altering substances, I would think this to be a logical conclusion... However, they have fooled me before...

Also, it seems the word "Jambi" loosely translates to "Health" or Healthy", and I have seen it used to describe something that is "herbal"... Although, I am sure these are not exact translations... I am not a linguist...

Makes you think though... That's what I love about Tool...

Don't get to hooked on the name until it's released... Tool has mislead people in the past with false album names, dates, and song titles... Just a heads up... Though I'm hugely awaiting the new album as well as anyone else is... Beware the deceptions of Tool mauhahahaha!:)

I just downloaded a song Opiate, and it then stops like the song is over. And then it's silent for like 30 seconds, and then I hear a song with all kind of Satan whining?!:odd: Is this included in the original song or is this a weard error:scared:

Edit: Wow DR this isn't just a usual band if I I read correctly:irked: This is pretty thought out. I like how weard their music always sounds. Really weard sometimes I dunno why, but somehow really cool, but the weardness continues in how they write and pick their songs I guess.

Sounds promising!

Edit 2: Pffff, damn man I just read some of their lyrics. The song Eulogy especially caught my eye. I just noticed that you just have to listen these songs together with the lyrics to understand them. Otherwise it just sounds cool and all but you're missing the whole point of the songs.

You don't have to tell me... I have been following Tool since the beginning, and even before that (C.A.D, TexAns)... As the years have progressed, they have become more and more esoteric... Which suits me just fine... It adds more deapth and replayability to the music...

Haven't had much time to look around, but does anyone know if theres been info given about the album art yet, or anything of the sorts?

Well, Alex Grey did the art work for "Lateralus"... He's one of my favorite artists of all time... I'm hoping they decide to commission him again for the new album...

;)

Don't know if anyone has seen it yet, but this is apparently the album cover:

Gotta love Alex Grey.

Gotta love Alex Grey.

I recieved the picture in my email a week back (from Tool)... I am glad they stayed with Alex Grey for their cover art. If it aint broke, don't fix it, and Lateralus's cover was certainly not broken...

Anyone know if any North American dates have been released yet? So far all I can seem to find is European dates.

Which leads me to my second question. Is Tool bigger oversea's then they are in North America, or is this normal for bands to tour other countries before their own?

Tool is planning a North American tour (no specific dates yet), to follow the European tour... Tool has a huge following in the UK, and an even bigger following in countries like Sweden, Denmark, Netherlands, etc... Hard to say if they follow the band more than the US, though...

Man, i'm from Canada, and if they don't come here, then i'll fly to Austrailia with ya.

The new album art looks great, even better then Lateralus in my opinion. Its dark like old (pre-Lateralus) Tool album covers, yet carries traits from Lateralus. Possibly giving us a hint at whats inside music wise maybe, mixture of both worlds?
