The topic of loyalty?

I have been playing since the first GT came out.

Even though I have had access to other systems or even other racing games, I refuse to play them.

Even now, GT5 is getting boring, I have an Xbox with Forza 4, but I still don't play it lol

Friends asking me to play the new need for speed but I dont.

The only game I have on PS3 is GT5.

If I get bored with GT5 I just turn off the PS3 and do something else lol

I don't see any sense in limiting yourself to just one game or series of games out of something so trivial as "loyalty", I like driving games full stop, so I try as many as I can, some I dislike intensely after trying, and some I play very frequently, like GT5.
 
I've been a fan for a while now, and discovering new wrinkles in GT5 is what keeps me playing it (the love of no ABS now...)

Not the best at any GT game and never will be - I just enjoy playing it.
 
I am right there with you with Forza, and I quit playing it after about 12 hours. Outside of that sentence, I am not going anywhere near that can of worms.

Like the poster above me, GT5 is about discovering new cars and new ways to play the game. For me, it was finally being able to drive with TC off. The only assist I have left to remove is ABS and it may take me some time to get to that point.

Regardless, GT5 is two years old, and I recommend trying another game. As long as you keep GT5, you can always go back to it afterall.
 
Open your options, there are other good games out there, not only car racing ones. You can still have fun without GT5. Trust me on this one, I was like you once...

I agree. It's possible to play more than one racing game at a time people. This isn't a religion.
 
I'm in the same boat as the OP...GT5 is the reason a PS3 was brought into the home...I tried Little Big Planet, didn't work..I've played Forza 2 and 3 and beyond the customization possibilities, wasn't impressed at all; that may be due to no sub $100 900 degree FF steering wheel being available , though given Forzas physics it probably would have been a waste of time...I refuse to stoop back down to NFS land..as far as racing games go, there are only three titles that could distract me from GT5...Enthusia for PS3, Tokyo Extreme Racer Drift for PS3, and of course GT5 :) Konami and Genki need to get on it..
 
Lately I have not played gt5 in a while. I just go on to do trades. It has got quite boring recently
 
As others have said, no sense in limiting yourself to just GT5 as there are other great games out there that you are missing out on. GT5 is also my favorite racing game, but I also play Forza 4, Forza Horizon, and now NASCAR-The Inside Line are the ones that I am playing most recently. To me, this whole fanboy thing and the GT5 vs FM4 war is just a bunch of crap. Each game has its pros and cons. You can have a favorite, as I do, but there is nothing wrong with playing other games, or at least giving them a try.
 
I too see no need for deciding what game to play out of "loyalty". Every game interprets racing "simulation" differently, and they all have certain aspects that give them an edge over others (or at least something you can learn/experience). In GT5 I'm at the no-ABS stage now, love it, definitely took away the boredom that is inevitable with ABS=1 driving once you reach a certain point.

I couldn't stand Shift 2, but I still throw in the original NFS Shift now and then. Horrible laggy inputs, but otherwise I really like it (at least for driving a few select race cars around the Nurburgring - the sound and some aspects of the handling are exciting in a way that GT5 isn't). Still, I have very short patience for a car that won't keep up with me, if it's constantly reacting a half a second after I do something, I won't keep driving it... but if it's the game's fault, I'll pop out the disc very quickly.

I don't have any racing games on PC or any XBox gear, so pretty much just keep going back to GT5. I love GT5 but constantly wonder now what I'm missing in FM4 and especially iRacing/rFactor/etc.

You really should check out FM4. What GT5 lacks, FM4 has and vice versa.
 
I've only ever got the PS1 , the PS2 and PS3 so I could play the GT series. I have other games such as Street Fighter 4 , but if I don't want to race I prefer to game on a PC.

Ah yea, for my non racing moods, I play Madden. Not into those shooter games at all.
 
Im on a GT5 hiatus at the moment (bought an xbox with forza 4 and forza horizon) and apart from the choice of cars and better engine sounds. Forza is a big let down, GT5 has better physics and much better car characteristics

Even though GT5 is 2 years old now, its still better than the current crop of sim racers
 
What's wrong with trying other console racers? Scared you'll find one that's better than GT5 and leave the glorious Gran Turismo Kaz World behind like a distant memory, oh my.

I'll admit I'm very comfortable with GT5, played it more than any previous title. Happy with the physics updating, trying new ways to play etc... It's like a comfy old couch when I sit down to play and relax, ahhh! It's my escape, my stress relief.

If I had more gaming time I'd get F1 2012 for sure. PCars is looking great so that's a for sure pick up, I anticipate that replacing GT5. Forza looks interesting but not enough to buy another console and wheel. I'd like to try it though. We got our kids an Xbox this summer but it broke after 3 months and Microsoft's had it for 3 weeks in repair, that's left a bad taste in my mouth.

I couldn't disagree more with this. Few racing games I own let me down more than GT5, but Forza definitely isn't one of them

Another one for the PS2 would be TOKA race driver 2. Off topic but I have a G27 wheel and was wondering if I wanted to try X-Box and Forza would my wheel work proper or would I also have to get a different wheel setup? The reason that I ask is because if they release GT6 on a new console instead of the PS3 then I will be looking for alternatives. Used X-box and forza would be way cheaper than brand new PS4/orbis and GT6.
 
Logitech wheels will not work with the Xbox 360, unless you buy an XCM adapter. Otherwise, your best option is to buy a Fanatec wheel.
 
I only got a PS3 to play GT5.
To play Forza I'd need to stump up Xbox cash to play it. It could well be an excellent game but I'm not going to buy a whole console for a Game (Yeah yeah that is exactly what I did for GT5 though.)

I guess there will be Forza players who are quite happy with their XBox and would think it insane to buy a whole console just for one game.

Now if Forza had come out on the PS3, I may have given it a go, but every driving game on the PS3/PS2 I've tried has been a trial.

Need for Speed - the physics have always felt - unrealistic. Floaty - The games have great graphics (World) and nice rich sound, but last few felt like driving a plastic pogo machine - I hope that the new raft have improved on the past.

We are Sim races, United with oversteer and Opposite lock.

Baffles me that people think like this, irrespective of what the other games are. Why would you restrict yourself to one form of entertainment because of loyalty? It'd be like only listening to one music artist out of loyatly or watching one TV comedy show out of loyalty. Makes absolutely no sense to me, it's just a form of entertainment, why tie yourself down?

How is that turning it into a war. I can't mention another game without somebody getting offended or what? Like I said, you guys really need to relax on the whole GT5 vs FM4 thing. As a whole, no one game is better than the other. They each have their pros and cons like I said before.

I know, lighten up! What's funny is that when ex GT5 players return to GTP to bash GT5, it makes me less interested in F**za. Like they're being defensive.

I'm fine..really, lol. It's like if you mention Forza in these forums tho, everyone gets all defensive tho like its some taboo thing. But, I can post in the Forza forums and mention GT5 and noone really thinks twice about it. Whats that tell you, lol.

Yes I have, thanks, I just don't understand it in regards to a video game. Why would you be loyal to a video game? It doesn't give you anything back in return for your loyalty. You don't lose respect from the developer because you played another game.
