Yeah the 2J is an epic troll. It didn't troll me much but it sure gave bob some hell.
Yeah the 2J is an epic troll I ram it off the track every grindingrace I do in A-spec.
Haha, wait 'till you see BSpec.
The Audi R8 which won Le Mans in several occasions can be also be classified as a troll car?
yonisFun fact: The 2J used to suck stones off the road and fling them backward at opponents.
Brabham BT46B would also qualify as a trollmobile?
amar212Troll Car? Really? This "4Chan mentality" plague is repulsive.
Why are you people doing this? I am really intrigued?
I am really intrigued?
No context, that's what happening.
Okay, am I reading this right?
Now we have "troll-cars"? What kind of derail of automotive history and spectacular achievements of people who created those vehicles - which are now virtually represented in games - is this?
Troll Car? Really? This "4Chan mentality" plague is repulsive.
Genius mechanists, engineers and various specialists invested their lives, education and talent to create some of the finest machines ever crafted in the history of the automotive industry. Generations praised their work, admired their accomplishments and celebrated the very existence of those machines.
Chaparral 2J was a damn masterpiece 40 years (yes, 40 years) ago, same it is now. It is one of the most unique and most spectacular racing-vehicle ever created when seen in context of the time it was made and outlook of the state of the industry.
Now we have a chance to get a small, small, small feel of superiority of such creations and put them in competition with other vehicles. Some of their unique solutions represented in virtual form allows them to be competitive with cars of today.
And that is *trolling*?
Mentality like that should stop, really. At least here. It is severely destroying the true essence of GTPlanet, day by day. Slowly, but it is happening. It managed to make a place made for love, respect and enjoyment in the spectacular universe of the automotive industry, automobiles and racing into a place where the Chaparral 2J is called a *trollmobile* and nobody sees a problem about it.
Why are you people doing this? I am really intrigued?
Absolutely. Gran Turismo 5 is as much a history of cars and racing as it is a game. We would do well to remember that when comparing cars. Some cars and some drivers are/were the fastest at their time. There is a hierarchy to almost everything in life. Analog made an excellent point that context is lost.

Agreed ...but if I was a McLaren driver in Can-Am I would probably consider it a trollcar ..and so would my mechanics, engineers, crew etc. I do not suppose you guys are suggesting that the people who were being cleaned up by the 2J in Can-Am were supposed to sit back and admire engineering perfection at work?
And this is exactly what PD has done to us. By making the Historic B-Spec race, and the American Championship B-Spec race so frustrating they have inadvertently turned us into the McLaren drivers that used to get cleaned up by this "masterpiece" of engineering. Yes I know ...its only a game but its hard to take the "masterpiece" position as you press the "Pace Up" button for the hundredth time in the hope of Bob actually winning this race on the first two attempts or so.
Anyway ...its just a game and I agree with you ...engineering genius should be appreciated. But you have to appreciate that its hard to grow a sense of respect and awe when your Bob is getting beat up by this thing and all you want to do is get to level 40.
The Veyron is the Trollmobile.
This response is exactly why I specified "with the right tune/driver." I try to focus on the solution not the problem. Here's how I look at it:
Problem=2J is faster by default in Historic Cup Race.
Solution(s)=Pick an appropriate car and tune which will defeat the 2J. There are multiple cars which have been proven by many to defeat the 2J in the Historic Race Car Cup. The Toyota 7 was mentioned so I responded with my viewpoint and experience.
If you hadn't noticed, GT5 follows this general method throughout: If the car you're using is not winning the race, change cars, tune the current one or improve driver skill. This applies in A-spec, B-spec, etc.
So because only one car can beat it "with a good tune" I should appreciate the presence of the 2J in this race series? Methinks not. Its cars like this that render other cars in the game useless. If PD had given us its natual comepetitors from back in the day, and included the Can-Am series, than i might have started to appreciate the "context" you guys speak of.
Yup ...and that is the problem right there. I only know of one car that can beat it fairly comfortable in the Historic Cup and that's the Toyota 7. Its what I used in A and B-Spec. And that's my gripe ...why can I not use the vintage Jaguar race car in B-Spec? Or the old Ford LM race car? Because they do not stand a chance.
