Well except Nissan slipping the SR20 into the 180SX in 1992 (and still calling it 180sx in Japan).

Lying bastitches! When the badge says 180, I want 180! Not 199! :lol:

The real shame of that naming convention though, is that you have to increase the engine size as the model progresses...

Is it just me, or would anybody else rather see a 250Z or 300Z than a 450Z in the future?

funny, our S13 200SX had CA18DET..

It's like the Japanese only Nissan 200Z (in Z31 models), it was cool, paved the way for RB engined Z cars. Dunno if it's just me but RB's seem to suit the Z31 better than VG's IMO. But that the time in the mid 80's VG's were like the new kid on the block, press thought the R32 was even going to have a VG.
