The Ultimate Sleeper

ok, heres my ultimate sleeper, i saw it in a mag...Get an old Mini 850 (complete with badges), chop up the rear floor, get your hands on 2 Yamaha R1 bike engines install 'em in the floor, re-weld the floor back together. keep the front and rear wheels standard. some how put some rear seats to make it not as obvious, put a local bowls club sticker on the rear window, and go and scare every WRX driver you can find!

My wants (sleeper or not), would be to find a 1st gen Protege missing a drivetrain, and put the Millenia S's 2.3L Supercharged V6 in it. It's 210hp, 210 ft lbs, and that lovely supercharger whine. Most of you are probably going "nah, can't happen"...

Here's how(and I have varified this with other people, and my dad(who would be doing a fair amount of the work, naturally). The 1st gen Protege chassis is the same as the MX-3's. The MX-3's 1.8 V6 is the same exteriorly(same outside demensions, just bored differently) as the 2.5V6 found in the 2nd gen MX-6 LS(Probe GT), 626 V6, and, the Millenia L. Mazda didn't change the Millenia chassis for the Miller Cycle V6, making it a direct "right in" transplant, the hardest part of which is, well, finding the engine. So basically, I want a blue or aqua or silver '91-'92(body style changes in '90 and '94) Protege LX(I believe there was also an SE, which would be fine), the 2.3V6, possibly a 5 lug conversion around the car, and MX-6 GT wheels(or if left 4 lug, MX-3 GS wheels). Everything else would be as stock as possible, inside and out. And it would be a rocket.

But atleast I will get a 1st gen Protege with the 2.5V6, my dad has one, and my bro has several, waiting for a car. :)

My dream Sleeper would have to be :

A 1973 Datsun 240Z with engine / drivetrain transplanted from a 1982 280ZX Turbo. Now replace that turbo with a HUGE ass turbo so I can get that extreme turbo lag !....

Kept stock except for some nice 16" chromed rims....

Im sorry, but you're thinking of the older, LAMER version of the Galant Vr4...trust me...I know..I already schooled TS1AWD on this..

Mitsubishi never sold a Galant VR4 Twin Turbo in America. Therefore, I'm talking about the older Galant, the one that might be a little ugly, but would STOMP the car you drive with ease.

This is what the guy, with the Taurus told me when I asked him if he had taken the car to the track, or if he had a dyno sheet. -

"I've never tracked it; the dyno sheet was on the SHOShop website for the
stage II forced induction package - I don't have a copy to scan or fax; if
it doesn't sell this go round then I am having it dynoed locally on Nov 1
and will include that supersize picture in the relisting (no matter what the
outcome); I get the 450 HP from the technical specs provided by ShoShop for
that configuration."

You're right TS1AWD, I know nothing, i must be crazy to think that the car below isn't a real car.......
but wait
IT IS

TS1 = Officially "DEALT WITT"

I bet that thing is loud as hell with that fart pipe, and you didnt show the rest of the car.

a bi-motor b18c5 crx, no exterior mods, except maybe some spinning hubcaps, tinted windows, and a WWJD bumper sticker

perfect 50/50 weight distribution  ... i can only imagine how uncomfterable it will be in the driver's seat though; the ITR motor screaming in the rear and it'll be like a damn sauna in there................ dah well... just roll the windows all the way down

They'd have to both remain stock though, which is pretty gay........It'd cost sooo much money to even do the simplest of modifications to the engines, just because neither engine will gain the exact same #'s

But that bi-motor tiburon from USCC was a damn good sleeper

^yup... very true

you'd have to start off with two crate ITR motors... and all the customization to fit both into the small chassis wouldn't be worth it in the end... its not practical but in my dream world where i've got limitless money to my disposal, this would have to be my "project" just for bragging rights

Hey man look, I didnt dissagree with you on the Galant thing. I looked it up myself and found out. My brother with two 92 GVR-4's didn't even know they were still manufactured overseas... no big deal. I actually apreciate you opening up this new info to me. But a 2G still insnt a true DSM :p I dont have anything against you, I know I dont know everything about cars, I know very little. But im open to all information

I'm still trying to figure out why someone would drop 20k into a fu**ing Ford Taurus..

Because some people are facinated with the wrong cars...For instance.....The Rav4 has it's own fanbase.....

Because some people like to be unique. Some people can see a special car for what it is, and like to turn it into something more special.

Yeah, that too......But the sad thing is..there's a massive group of other people that fail to see that, so they think the car is horrible....like Honda haters....And mustang haters....And Ferrari haters..

Dropping 20k into a Taurus is neither "unique" nor is the car "special". 3/4's of car enthusiast's, will have my back on this. Some people need friend's to tell them when they're doing the wrong thing; ie burning 20g in mod's on a Taurus.

And it's not about "hating" a certain manufacturer's car, it's about common sense. Taurus SHO = Taurus POS.

Any car enthusiast knows that the taurus SHO is an amazing piece of work, especially the yamaha engine. Car enthusiasts are exactly that CAR enthusiasts. That means that they can/should be able to see the beauty of almost every car that has something unique about it that makes it stand out from the crowd. The SHO is a sleeper...that can beat stock mustangs, and give an Integra Type R a run for its money on the track (race track mind you, not just 1/4 mile crap). Most car enthusiasts know this.

Also...if dropping 20k into a taurus isnt unique...then why doesnt everyone do it? Oh wait...almost nobody does it, therefore, when a 400hp SHO comes along...yes...that is unique my friend. And by simply saying that the SHO is a POS without knowing anything about it...especially without having driven one...then you are 'hating' on it. Simple enough.

What about turbo caravans/voyageurs?
i dont think many people know this but in 1989-1990 you could get a factory built 2.5l turbo caravan/voyageur...

if anything i think a turbo minivan would be the ultimate sleeper...

http://www.turbominivan.com

imagine handing v8s their ass in a fwd 4cyl minivan:tup:

Yeah, ive seen that...but there are quite a few of them nowadays since everyone has realized their potential. Ive seen a couple in houston.

"Also...if dropping 20k into a taurus isnt unique...then why doesnt everyone do it?" Because your an asshole if you do.

As far as not having driven a SHO, I've had the "pleasure" of driving three of them, one had a 75shot wet setup, exhaust, the usual mod's, and it, like every other SHO, was a POS. I speak from my experience's with the car's, as well as my friend's who have owned them through the year's.

On the other hand, your baseless comment's are humor if anything. "The SHO is a sleeper...that can beat stock mustangs, and give an Integra Type R a run for its money on the track (race track mind you, not just 1/4 mile crap)."

Hmm, it can beat a stock Mustang!? Geez, considering most mustang's with a good driver are running 15s that's not a real accomplishment. And the comment about it beating a Type R on a track; I happen to have a friend with a mildly tuned 2001 Type R, and another friend that work's at the same Auto store that has a mildly tuned SHO. Funny thing is, the SHO can't keep up on a couple 40mph S curve's, how could it keep up on a track?

Put the Ford Power magazine down, and get some real fact's.

I dont subscribe to magazines, I speak from what I have driven as well. And what kind of SHO does your friend have? Does he know how to drive? Is it a 96+? Did he realize that it was FWD? Does he know anything about driving a car?

why is everyone getting all worked up? it's just a matter of personal preference and taste.

but to me, the way a car looks is as important as the way it performs. i respect this car b/c it's fast but i wouldn't drive it though, just my 2 cents :)

I gotta friend who has 1982 celica supra who just put in a 2JZGTE so whenever we do go out little civics come up & think they got power but when gets on it......I also have another friend, i dunno if u would consider thia a sleepr or not but he has a 1990 eagle talon. one day i was in my wrx (this is how i met him) at the light when i white car pulls up so i give it a rev. the lights turns green, we both take off but some how hes ahead of me & i'm thinking they come AWD ? so once we were done i saw what he had & it was a talon tsi awd with a galant vr-4 motor, i think generating 245 hp & now that i see the prices for these bad boys , its way cheaper than my wrx & the ranges are $3,000 to 4,000 that i've noticed compared to a wrx $24,000 & the talons come with 4G63's (the vr-4 is optional).
