About the Viper...
I was the one with the Viper. I ran a 1'19.xxx which is still slower than my GT. I had to fight some ugly understeer which would have been fixed by the next race so the times would have been even faster. Although it couldn't beat the GT, it still beat Gooster's Zonda by nearly 2 seconds. Either way, there is no challenge for it in the modern division.

I believe the S7 is illegal. It is a supercar, but it comes with all the non-adjustable parts (Racing Exhuast...) stock.

Gooster, I think you should turn off your AIDs. I have nothing against them, but I think that is the reason why your Monaro can't keep up with my Commodore.

I'm down for the 4 cars rule because there are 4 divisions, and we need a 4th supercar to activate the class. :)

hmm .. beside that . . I think "AIDs" should be a mod (especially when the car is from the 70's or 80's . . where they didn't had any driving aids . . ) . . they can make a big difference for the powerfull FR-cars on S1 tires

edit: after concentrating on my newer two lacers . . with the result that I'm still behind my closest rivals (in both cases . .:ouch: ) . . I took the oldie again for a spin . . and what a car!! I did a 1'40.998 in my second outing . . and I think there is more . . watch out Giulia . . !!

okay, reply Mk.II! I typed in here, but it didnt send when I hit post reply!

I agree with l2ev, the saleen s7, and cataway whatchamacallit should be banned, as they are unable to have the base mods, and come standrd with the full race mods, which most of are illegal.

I dissagree with aids being a mod or illegal, as some people can't drive without them. It is a relatively cheap operation to install Traction Control for early model cars anyway (Jaycar in Aus has a kit available for under AUD$100) although oversteer and understeer aids perhaps should be unavailable (I have turned them off now by the way)

I didn't say they should be illegal. I just want some competition from you, and I believe the Aids will slow you down because thats all the ASM does for me. I just choose not to use TCS (and it is fun riding the clutch to get a jump off the line). I also have to agree that they should not be a mod. Like you said, the Monaro comes with them stock.

edit: For some reason I always thought the Monaro was called a Morano...

I'm gonna have to disagree with you guys about the S7 and others with adjustable parts. A stock Ford GT can still beat a stock S7, at least in GT4.

Edit: If its really a problem, supercars could be modified with all racing parts that do not increase power or reduce weight (minus the gearbox).

I personally think that this is just one of the advantages some cars will have.

You make a good point, but I was referring to how you can't start with the base set up and advancing the car every week is different. Since you got me thinking about it, I realize it could still work. Supercars should be able to increase power, but some cars like the S7 have less parts to choose from. :ouch: Yet another decision for the stewards. At least we are finding all the problems in the first week. By Tsukuba, everything should be running smooth.

Hey, how is that GTO coming. The Commodore isn't in the garage yet.

I didn't even notice...:nervous::dunce:

edit: Gooster the picture of the GTO and the red smoke...The tires are Kumho Ecsta MX-Cs. They are drift tires that also come in blue. I'm sure you know how burning rubber smells. :yuck: These tires give a lavender scent. I was thinking about trying to get them for my 240sx that I'm getting this summer.

I LOVE the smell of burning rubber!!!! Do they leave different color marks? I might have to see if they are available in australia, and stick em on the commodore

Anyway, needed a change of pace from the ancient Galant and was flicking through the small ads when I came across a nice little runner. An '89 Skyline GT-R, that fits nicely into the Budget division and should have some potential.

Picked it up and treated it to an oil change and wash, then popped into the workshop to set to work, my new track monster emerging with the following spec.

Nissan Skyline GT-R 1989

Half a dozen more laps and down to 1.31:581, starting to like this car a lot.

Whell,i will do every thing i can on my GTS to challenge you,i think that will be interesting:)

Not a chance I'm afraid, go back and read the first post in this thread. Cars driving in the virtual track day series are limited in which modifications can be carried out.

The Ruf RGT would fall into the modern class so you would have the following mods to start with

Sport Exhaust
Sport Suspension
Sport Flywheel
S1 Tyres
Oil Change
Rigidity Increase (optional)
Chassis Refresh (if required)

and then one additional mod of your choice (subject to the banned items shown in the firt post for each track, so as this is the first track in the series you get one only.

Just the Clio to work on now for me, I really pushed to get the Alfa under 1'40 and the 5 under 1'30 and dont think there is much more to come from them.

Will be interesting to see how they respond to more mods, the Alfa needs some more power as it has a great chassis, the 5 could get twitchy with more power and may benefit more from weight reduc and other parts to get more speed out of it.

Even so I think they have both done well for their respective outputs!

Will spend a small amount of time with the Clio tonight and see how much more there is to find, then its off to UKGTP at the weekend!

Will try and get some .max replay files up next week...

cheers guys

David

Hey, how is that GTO coming. The Commodore isn't in the garage yet.

I haven't used the GTO at all yet. I was too busy yesterday to get any of them out, but I should be able to today.

Edit: So...Are we allowed to use a fourth class yet?

Hi guys, home again...:dopey:

I just wrote a big post to bring things up to date, and lost it by accidentally clicking on one of my favourites :ouch: Doh!

Re 4 cars: I have a problem with this (much as I am itching to drive a car from each class myself): at a real track day people rarely have more than 1 car, let alone more than 3  (although I'm sure it does happen). Besides we're spoiled at GT4 already, with enough cars each to keep Jay Leno amused!:sly: So I feel that having to think carefully about your car choice and make the odd painful sacrifice is a good thing.

If anyone can give me a good practical reason to have 4 cars, I'll listen, but just plain greed is not enough.

Viper is hereby promoted to Millionaire's Division, Supercar class  . It's ages since I drove this car: are we talking all Vipers or just the latest, hottest ones:confused: ?

Boog, nice presentation on the times there bud, is that copyright?:) And Goose, good idea on the timepost thang, lets hope my primary school computer skills are up to that!:nervous:

I say just the SRT10. The SRT10 version was a big jump from the GTS (I followed a GTS the other day ), and the GTS makes good competition for the C5 Z06.

Edit: ...

I thought . . I make a little overview myself . . . since Ed is busy . .

Not many people travel the globe for track days to only bring three cars. If you travel the globe for track days, you are obviously a millionaire with a personal cargo plane to carry as many cars as you'd like.

Practical enough? Good! :D
