On topic: Can you change the wheels on the Volvos? And can you throw a few spoilers on your Volvos for us? That would make my day...

that would be nice, let's see a bright red S60 with some white Falken wheels on it :D :p

the 300hp 850 seems kind of slow for its amount of horsepower. Because my dads Audi A8L has 310 horspower, but it is like 4600 pounds maybe more and it does 0-60 in 6.8 seconds. I think that 850 could be much faster.

Well, Volvo's were never engineered with speed in mind. Most people who buy volvo's know what they're getting in return : a tank. As long as they fulfill their promise to be one of the safest cars in the world, thats all that matters. But obviously Volvo's designers are going in a new direction with the sporty designs now, guess they finally realized the old box-car stuff wasn't going to work forever.

A friend of mine once drove a 850 Turbo @ 200 km over a hill. It flipped over, slided upside down into a Steel pole, and he crawled out with a few scratches here and there. wow.

Yeah, they do make it look quite sporty. I find that with the 240/940, if they have 3 spoke alloys on and a spoiler that tips horizontally off the back of the car, they look brilliant.

2 tail pipes not necessarily mean V6 engine.

 I remember when I was little, I thought cars had one exhaust tip per cylinder, so I'd draw cars with like 42 exhaust pipes :D

As for the Volvo 240, about what price is it? I don't think I saw a screenshot of it in maskrider's screens thread. I can't wait to get one and see if I can put the steelies on it :D

To end the V6 discussion there have never been a V6 engine in the 850 or the V70, but in the 240 (260) and 740 (760) and 940 (960) and the S80 (S80 T6) . And now their putting a V8 in the XC90 built by Yamaha and there going to put it in the wrong way left to right..

OK can noone say: longitudinally and transverse engine position :D.

Great minds thou - left-right and north-south :D

ive seen a 240 estate with a V8..

it was at the NEC sports car show a few years back, the engine was in the back and was covered in fake builders gear to hide it.

uber-sleeper.

someone who said a 300hp 850 doesn't feel fast...
850's gearing is kind of weird...and it actually makes it the fastest FF production car in re: top speed. if i'm not mistaken, the gearing makes it hit 180-200mph or higher...if it can reach that at its stock 225-250hp, i'm not sure, but the 0-60 acceleration has been sacrificed to make the gears longer...

or something like that :)

the 240 GLT Estate was about 500,000 credits. to put things into perspective, a 1990 FC3S was 750,000 credits, and a brand spaking new Toyota Caldina GT4 (matrix) is about 2500,000 credits (give or take 10%)

Why does everyone love that car? It's so ugly.
How can you say that ?... The 240 Estate rocks !... It's a classic made right - Front Engine RWD... All it needs is a huge *** turbo and an intercooler...

That - And I like the look of it too.... Truly classic shaping...

This is a race version of a 242 and it looks like a japanese (or something) guy is driving it, as u can see at the front lights: :sly:

Pretty nice to see a volvo 240 in the lead ;)

And how!

actually, my brother knows some guys in ontario that do chevy V8 swaps into their 240s, probably a better alternative to a big laggy turbo and ostentatious intercooler.

The engine bay is cavernous, so they said the idea occured naturally.

i own a 94' 850 glt. it was not turbo originaly. Also no volvo was ever designed and produced tt. nor a 850 with a v6. stock i took my car to a local auto buff store where they installed a new apex'i dynojet. i payed 25 bucks to learn my car puts down 138 hp to the front wheels. that was depressing. that was also last summer. i have since purchased a used saab s900t spool and 94' 850r fuel managment and boost controler computer. after a little tooling and junkyard hopping for a header, i got it done and i just recently put down 190 hp to the wheels. this was complete randomness if anyone is interested.
