Took some time to demonstrate the options, as well as test how multiple vids in a post would load. Not a great performance though... clearly need to clean up my lines.

Edit: Gimme a minute... something isn't working. Swift, stop laughing
Edit 2: okay, we got it going. :dunce: Thanks Swift. 👍

Option A: Track View with Display

Option B: Track View and Chase View with Display

Option C: Track or Dive View and Chase View with Display

Option D: Chase View with Display

Option E: Track View with Display and Freestyle View (ie, any other view)

There. Forgive the messy dive cam, I put no effort into it - just hit Dive and recorded the first take. People could make it look a ton better using the disk-eject trick and giving it a few attempts.
Oh, and don't forget that music can always be added to the clips, I was just lazy.

After this, I still like option C.

Great examples BL. I would pick option B, because I would more likely use the track view instead of dive. The track view has better angles on lap 2 also.

I still have yet to get a good video, changed my car. If you call that not a great performance BL, what does a good one look like? I thought it looked really good, you have got some serious skill. I don't see how I am gonna match it :)

I wanted to ask about our YouTube user names. Does it matter if we use our GTPlanet names like you did BL? Since we have to be anonymous. :)

C or D for me,
I dont matter to put dive or track view, but chase view are essential with display because you see all drift clearly.

hello everyone!

i' m new here and as i dont' know much yet where i may introduce myself, please forgive : i' ll do it later at the right place
your weekly drift comp' idea is just really good and i guess it' s gonna be a great thing to do for the beginner i am.

thanks:)

welcome 👍

Welcome Geoff, glad you're wanting to participate. Always happy to see new members of the forum taking part in our activities. 👍

Oops, I missed that question earlier.
I'm not gonna worry about it too much right now, just so we can keep things simple. I just hope that voters don't go to length to determine who's video is who's and allow that to sway their vote.

But, if this does become a problem in the future I have a few options available to get around this... but they're terribly inconvenient for everyone, most of all for me. So, be good.

a) leave it as is, using only the single track view + display (small vids)
b) use track view and a chase view (larger/longer vids)
c) let people get creative with choice of track view or dive cams, with a mandatory chase view + display.
d) forget track/dive views and just do a chase view + display
e) Track view w/OSD + freestyle view (onboard, dive, whatever) -- Ske's suggestion
f) other: _______________________________

Tally to date:
A - 3 votes from NK, midnight riot, midnight runner
B - 2 votes from ~Drift King~*, Drift2XS
C - 5 votes from ~Drift King~*, Boundary Layer, Swift, Geetown, HackiRoku
D - 0 votes
E - 1 vote from Ske

* denotes a person that has 2+ equal preferences.

Personally, I do still believe C to be the superior option after further consideration. It does allow people that favour format B to still put together a video in that guise. And really B (and potentially C) is just a combination of A and D. So, by the transitive property, C makes the most people happy (9 vs Ske)

You just signed up, and you don't post the video link. You PM it to me before Sunday and I will look after posting the videos. :)

Please read through the first post of the thread a little bit more thoroughly to fill in the rest of the blanks. I'd also encourage you to read the discussion about camera angles beginning around post 12 or 15 and provide your opinion on which views we should use (examples of each option are in post 31). If you have any other questions don't hesitate to ask.

Oh, and since we are debating which camera angles to include in each clip it'd be wise of you to wait until a decision is made on Wednesday before you record/render your video.

Glad you could make it! 👍
Good luck.

edit: added 360-D1 to list of entrants.

you can delete my choice for option C and D,
just keep option C for me. an d im gona look foward to see wich view are decide, on Wednesday.

option c sounds good to me.
ive already got a run filmed, but not sure if i wanna keep it. but ill go ahead and edit/upload it, so if something comes up ill at least have submitted a vid.
hopefully my captures werent messed up because i didnt save the replay.
ill work on that tomorrow a little, but ive got some things i gotta work on.
just gotta decide on a few things on the video.

Haha, I was thinking the same thing about users trying to figure out who's video is who's.

Just to confirm about the YouTube user name thing BL, it doesn't matter if we use our GTPlanet user names? I was finding it hard to get a name that wasn't taken, so I thought it would be easier to just use Drift2XS on there as well.

I also agree with you on the whole camera thing. C is the best way to go. I picked B because I would be more likely using the track view instead of dive. C is good because the user can decide what view best suits them, the car and the track. Great job with the Competition BL, can't wait to see what everyone comes up with. :)

Ya, I'll say for certain what types of camera to include tomorrow. But it's looking very much like it will be c) track view or dive cams, with a mandatory chase view + display, unless everyone decides to change their opinion at the last minute.

Final Tally:
A - 3 votes from NK, midnight riot, midnight runner
B - 3 votes from ~Drift King~*, Drift2XS, SMOKEY BANDIT
C - 6 votes from ~Drift King~*, Boundary Layer, Swift, Geetown, HackiRoku, Suzuki
D - 0 votes
E - 1 vote from Ske

We will be using camera option c)

c) choice of track view or dive cams, with a mandatory chase view + display.

I've got my run done, just have to capture and render. It could probably be better, but I'm not gonna have the spare time before Sunday to make another one.

Sounds good to me BL. :)

I have got a few runs I like, none of them perfect though. But since I have not been drifting that long and only just started drifting this track this week, I am quite happy with the results. Just have to edit and upload. Can't wait to see everybody's video's. :)

it' s ok for cam to use :) but i have a really hard time linking those corners  ...i'll do my best to get a line done but i' m afraid it' s gonna be though :nervous:

Excellent. Already have enough vids turned in to have a proper podium ceremony. ;)
Good work and keep them coming guys 👍
