The article has been taken off the japanese page...

The article did say "please expect more news", but this is just strange! lol

Seeing as it's just gone 9am in Japan, maybe (hopefully) a re-write that clears things up is coming?

The ironic thing about today's conference was that it created more questions than answers...

Everything I have heard so far is great news. However, right now my opinion on GT5 rests on two things:

1) The 170 "Premium" cars. Are these the only cars that have interior damage or interiors at all? I really hope its the latter.

2) The number of tracks. 20 tracks with 60 variations is simply not enough. However, now I'm hearing that its actually 60 tracks. I have a hard time believing its only 20 - this is PD we're talking about, and they like to do things in a big way.

If PD gets either of these wrong I'll be severely disappointed.

Well I'm very disillusioned.:( I woke up this morning and first watched the PS3 Slim video. I was literally punching the air and clapping. I was saying to myself "Way to go Sony, you guys finally did it!". There I was thinking Sony will now win the console war. I was awaiting the big GT5 to really close the deal with me, but... Then I realized there is no GT5 trailer. Then I read the GT5 confirmed features, albeit the translation of it. Now I'm quite sad to be honest. Here are the things that spell "FAIL" to me about GT5:

-No confirmation of livery editor (paint editor, decals, vinyls, window tinting, carbon fibre parts, etc)
-No confirmation of external tuning parts (removal of existing or adding of after market exhausts, body kits, wings, canards, etc)

I don't want a car designed by PD, I want my very own, I am an individual.

-Possibility of No interior for all cars or No damage for all cars (translation makes things a bit unclear but either way it would be a massive disappointment, should both of these statements be misread it may make me forgive all the other shortcomings:tup:)
-No confirmation of ability to roll cars over as a result on an accident (possibility does not quite cut it after seeing some of the latest games simulate that in spectacular fashion)
-No confirmation of drag racing (as boring and simple as it may be it's just fun and no driving game should be without this type of competition)

I want the full GT5 package, in now way am I prepared to wait for DLC or GT6 to get what I want, not after how long I've been waiting for GT5. To be honest I've been waiting for these features since GT2, so that's over a decade. No more, I'll settle for Forza Motorsport 3.

-Confirmation of NASCAR and WRC licensed competitions (if indeed those are the only licensed ones)
-No confirmation of Porsche, Maserati, McLaren manufacturers (I'm referring to the McLaren F1 model)

Why not the Japan, Europe or US, GT and Super GT competitions? Why not F1, F2000 or many other open-wheel competitions? Why not many of the single model competitions around the world? Why not IndyCar? Even that competition is more interesting and fun to play than NASCAR. If they do confirm they have plans to release these competitions as free, or not, DLC, I may forgive this bad choice of licensed competition. As for missing out on Porsche, Maserati, and the McLaren F1, well I don't need to emphasise just how disappointing that would be.

There are of course many things about GT5 that will make it a fantastic game and I do see the GT5 being a popular game. I've been a GT fan all my life, and in my heart I want it to be the better driving game. But there are a fair few shortcomings at the moment. I understand other GT fans will try to be positive, or forgive or indeed lie to themselves that there's more there it's just that PD are holding back. But I like to work with facts not delusion...

EDIT: As for GTM, Why? GTM would not win the console war, GT5 would! The time and publicity wasted on GTM was a very bad idea. GT5 should have come first, then GTM.

Maybe they took it out just to play with our mind as a marketing strategy. Like ooops, you were not supposed to see this. It leaked by "mistake".

I don't get it though. If all 1000 cars have the same poly count, then why does only 170 of 'em have cockpit view? Nothing makes sense. :nervous:

Every car must be of the same quality, otherwise it would be oddest thing. Especially when it is Gran Turismo we're talking about. I mean, both GTHD and GT5P has every car in the true GT5 quality, and now we would suddenly have to travel back in time? Nah, it just can't be that way!

GTM is to help sell the PSP Go! as well as boost sales for the existing models.:sly:

It probably made perfect sense in jp. I doubt they would take it down so it would better translate. They usually update everything else days after the content is published.

someone made a mistake. I think that if they rerelease the website then not much is going to change from what we've already seen.

I say they screwed up their wording and are just going to try and fix it, so that it translates better into English. That is just my opinion though.

Yeah it wasn't worded great even in Japanese.

@Cobra_NZ No confimation doesn't neccesarily mean that feature won't be announced later ;)

So you guys suggest that the SLR and the 300SL that we saw in the e3 trailer are part of those premium cars although they were in GT4 and both include cockpit views ?

With all these speculations and rumors I wish I could fall a sleep and wake up when the game is released. But I have to work tomorrow lol..

Lots of cars in GT5P with cockpit views were also in GT4, so no-one can say for certain.

hahah, I bet they're completely freaked out by how fast everyone has jumped on what they posted and tried to translate it and interpret it.

Click the thought bubble next to the "Quote" button on the different posts.
There's no way to quote his quote inside of yours the way it's presented in the thread without a few steps?
In your post, I had to click on the
viewpost.gif
image to get to Justin's post, click the quote button for both of them into different tabs, copy yours, pasted in after Justin's, then cut (Ctrl+X) the
bit and paste it at the front of Justin's
so it looks like

Text punctuation, and spaces [/ quote][/ quote]

Holy crap those instructions are a mess. If anyone wants more/different info, shoot me a PM.

This is just getting stranger and stranger, lol!

Why did they remove the article?

Was the information not correct? Was it not supposed to be up yet? Or... was the information correct, but they realised all the fans got dissapointed with only 170 cars and 20 tracks, so now they're delaying it 5 more years to make another 170 cars and 20 more tracks?

A member posted this as Neogaf and you can see a cockpit view. What he said also makes sense which is that PD are simply using the stats of the cars from GT4 in GT5 but the model will be completely new.

What is getting to me is some cars not having a cockpit view which just does not make sense. My premium I think they mean the WRC and Nascar vehicles. That said I give up on speculation and hope tomorrow this is all sorted out.

Either way the fact that GT5 was pulled from the press conference and now info has been pulled from the website it is making me rather uneasy about the game.

This is one of those things thats got to go down as the most confusing interpertation.

Refering to

"1,000 vehicles
170 Premium new models (full interior modeling, the interior corresponds to vehicle damage)
830 kinds of standard model (some are from Gran Turismo 4 that have been carried over to GT5)"

I won't believe any of the current links to gaming press coments until we get an official english translation from PD.:)

Well SOMETHING has been lost in translation or not explained to well regarding these "premium" cars.

We have interiors for so many road cars in Prologue already, and I can't imagine all of those being smashable.
