Well, even Amar announced only 170 "real" GT5 cars, and he should know, right?

I Just used officialy unveiled assets in order to clear one of the statements in the OP, have to admit this whole situation is confusing.

If this indeed turns out to be information about the game and not the demo I am one happy camper. Biggest un(assumed)known info for me is custom tracks and PSEye head tracking. I have a PSEye right now but I have yet to find a useful way to implement it. Meh to video chats and EyeCreate. I play every racing game from the bumper, but this would be enough to move me from the bonnet-cam to the interior.

Biggest thing for me is the use of the Playstation Eye to track your head movements, only other thing I wanted to see was a mention of weather, not fussed on damage.

I also find it hard to believe that only 170 cars will have interior view, that means I'll only be driving 170 cars because I only ever use the interior view, that can't be right.

I think it more likely that the 170 cars are the ones with full damage, I hope so anyway.

:cheers::bowdown::cheers::bowdown:

I just want to quote this as it seems that people haven't noticed.

Once again:

Both my bro and Japanese sister-in-law can't see anything that makes this a GC-specific version, only that this is new info for GT5 released today.
Of course, neither are gaming or car fans (and a little pre-occupied packing for a flight) so maybe they missed something.

👍 and i just wanted the top gear test track so i can compare lap times etc

Another question though. Why would a demo, specific for a game event, contain so much features? I bet it is the full game specs we got after all... :( 👎

I think people don't want to notice.

With so many "updates" and so few/limited new features, I would like to think that this is some kind of Gamescom build, but why would they have things like customizable soundtrack in such a build?

If this info is supposed to be a gamescom demo spec:

1. Why write about youtube functionality
2. Why write about custom soundtracks etc etc.
3. Why make only 170 cars have damage and then justify this by saying its a demo, this would imply they were still working on the other 830 cars which would mean at PD's rate a release date when I'm 6 ft under.

How are there only 20 tracks when in the news section it says "60 tracks with 20 to be revealed"?

i dont know why people are so sad. 170 cars with interior view is still a large amount, im just happy with the new features and will look forward to tuning a supra to 600hp and comparing it to my cousins :p

I don't understand all the negativity? If I can play with ALL of the cars from GT4 rendered in GT5's graphics engine, with improved physics, well I'm rapt!

Bring it on!

That information is on the PD website as a caption under the first picture, not directly from the text?

The image that mentions "Gamescom" as the first word in the caption.

Just trying to help, I'm as confused as everyone :nervous:

No need to be pessimistic about it all. I doubt that's all of the features in GT5.
What about custom liveries? Online Teams? I think this was mentioned by Kaz in a presentation in 2006? (or 2007) way back... and no more used car lots?

Also, if theres only 20 tracks (if its the correct translation), then it solidifies Chamber's post of it being specs for GamesScon Demo.

Wow if thats true thats got the be the biggest dissapointment I have ever heard..... So you paying for a full priced game to get 80% of GT4. :grumpy:

I knew there was no way PD would be able to render that may cars without a cop out, they just ported them across in HD. So most of the game wont have interiors or damage, thats just terrible.

This better be just for the gamescom demo because this just sounds like an unfinished game to me.

Robin.

its probably slight head adjustments, lets hope we get a few videos from the GT5 booth in the next few days :)

This is already available for PC sims.. but it uses a hat with tags and a camera that tracks them..

http://www.naturalpoint.com/trackir/ Its a great idea there are some vids floating around on the interweb.

Obviously you wont be looking into the back seat, but like shown in the demo vid on the site above, it will increase your immersion, and range of view.
I would imagine within a few mins of driving it would also become unnoticeable.

+1 :) I hear ya !!!!

Check the last 4 months worth of posts, the endless wishlists and demands for must haves, with people building up their expectations.. expect some whinging :)

Ok, IF there will be only 170 cars with cockpit. Then we can all agree with the sad fact that Forza 3 has beaten us, right?

I hope that all cars will have interiors. I doubt that there will only be 170 cars with modeled interiors. 71 from GT5P all modeled interiors. So to assume that PD just modeled an extra 99, including the similar Skylines, and the nascar, rally cars, (because those would benefit most from the interior)? That means that most street cars with interiors are the ones we already saw in GT5P. Highly unlikely in my opinion.

I agree that it will be 170 with interior damage, the other's interiors won't get damaged.

👍 I know. I just want the game. If they have more stuff to add later then good. The more the merrier. I just want to play it.

Sorry to disappoint you guys but as I said before

170 cars with interior and damage and 830 with nothing - that is the correct translation of Japanese article, I do speak Japanese (not native but heading for lvl1 in far future and lvl2 next year - should be this year but I'm lazy :( ) and to defend myself - "a translation of this article" - the article might be wrong but since it is an official GT page I do not have any hopes for anything to be changed in future (that interior camera moving future is also not 100% it is "possible to be confirmed" but I am not sure if that is correct translation that is why I did not mention it before)

I just read that Black Chamber has the article translated by Japanese person so I'm out of competition ;)

But still I think that this is the correct info and it is about the game not about the demo, first paragraph says that since there is GT5 exhibition during gamescom we are releasing info about the game, also one of the subtitles of pictures says that more info will become available during gamescom (not necessary publicized in Germany but on japanese gt page)

How are there only 20 tracks when in the news section it says "60 tracks with 20 to be revealed"?

It's wrong.

Translated correctly, it reads more than 20 tracks, more than 60 layouts.

@Lotrzyna The info my japanese family are giving me fits with what you've put up, more so than some of the other translations.

For reference, I agree with this approximate translation.

I'm not sure that I do. His Japanese speaking friend translated it into Italian - and then he translated it again into English. You can lose and gain a lot of words when you get lost in translation like that.

have to admit this whole situation is confusing

Completely confusing. My friend is now gone, so I am left to my own devices to figure this all out. My Japanese is decent - but nowhere near native.

To solve that - I copied and sent the whole page in Japanese to my friend Kyosuke who lives in Japan. He is most definitely a native Japanese reader/speaker, as he was born and raised there.

He will solve this riddle for us [unless IGN, 1up, etc. can first].

All it would take is to walk up and ask somebody there.....geeesh! :sly:

From 8/18, the latest specifications for Gran Turismo 5 have been announced at Gamescom in Germany.

The announcements are as follows:

Cars
-1000 makes/models
-170 premium models (with interiors and damage support)
-830 standard models (compatible models taken from GT4)
Translators Note: I interpret this as having 170 models with interiors and damage, and 830 models that have roughly the quality of GT4 models. Where possible they reused assets from GT4 in that latter case.

Courses

-More than 20 courses, and more than 60 layouts.
Translators Note: That's literally what it says. I interpret that as 20 tracks (Suzuka/Fuji/Grand Valley/etc.) and 60 versions of those tracks (Suzuka East/West, Fuji F/GT).

Vehicle Physics

-Completely new physics system.
-Vehicles can be rolled.
-Damage modelling (Deformation caused by the collision is reproduced perfectly).
-Prius, Insight, and the latest hybrid cars such as the Tesla have had their behaviour accurately reproduced.

Arcade Mode

-Single Race.
-2 Player Battle.

GT Mode

-World Map.
-Garage.
-Car Dealer.
-Tuning Shop (Parts, Tyres).
-Car Wash
-Championship Race (Race Series, Point System)
-License Test

Online

-Open Lobbies
-Text and Voice Chat
-Private Rooms
-Online Photo Album
-Online Replay Album
-Replay output to Youtube

Photo Mode

-Photo Drive (Circuit)
-Photo Stage (Dedicated stages made for Photo Mode)

Gran Turismo TV

-Video output to PSP
-Progressive Downloads
-Improved User Interface
-Consecutive Playback

Museum

-Even more information than GT5P.

Sound

-Custom Soundtracks (Using music stored on the PS3).

User Interface

-The design concept is the same as GT5P. The icon colours are different.
-Using face tracking to control the cockpit camera it's possible to view the cockpit in three dimensions.

OK, here's the most solid translation I've got. I live in Japan and speak Japanese, but I'm native English. I've done my best to render it into plain English we can all discuss without having to guess at meanings too much. I've tried to clarify the impression I get from the text where it's a little muddy.
