3rd wind refers to point to point.

I can only think of a few tracks with 3 variations. Most tracks are forwards and backwards. Infineon and Fuji are a few with 3 variations, what others?

Infineon only has 2 (Stock car and Sports car), unless you include the drag strip of course. Fuji had 4.

Which translation is the right one ?
20 tracks 60 variations.
or
60 tracks 20 more to come.

IMO the second one is the right one because it wouldn't make sense to have just 20 tracks in GT5 while there are 6 tracks in GT5P and about 50 in GT4.

I think the 2nd one is, just looking at the series they have licensed you can get 20 easily just using them.

Yea, the IGN article's writer seemed to agree with my theory (shared by many) that the 170 will have damage viewable from the interior and 830 will have the damage viewable only from the exterior views. Or something along those lines. It is just TOO unlikely, unbelievable, and unimaginable, that PD would release a game with only 17% on the cars having damage, or only 17% of the cars having an in-car view.

Also, to those complaining that 830 of the cars are coming from GT4, SO WHAT? If PD didn't re-use those 830 (which by the way, there weren't that many in GT4), you would then be complaining that "they had bla bla bla car in GT4, why isn't it in GT5?" And for those who are new to the world of videogames in general, the cars from GT4 will have GT5 quality graphics. You would think that would be obvious but I guess we have to spell it out for you since it wasn't explicitly stated in the Press Release on the Japanese site.

can someone quote the features of GT4P and the final release of GT4?? that might shed some light on what to expect development wise

Or do they mean 20 tracks (real life ones) and 60 courses (fantasy ones)?

[/stir]

Real life tracks aren't run in reverse, but have alternate layouts, NASCAR tracks have infield courses. TG test track is all but confirmed... It just wouldn't make sense for GT5 to ship with 20 tracks.. I'm leaning towards the 60 tracks, with a further 20 layouts from those 60

How do you get anything out anything he says?

There are so many interpretations of each, hence why he can't be wrong. One of them is bound to be right.

Your right 20 tracks make no sense. How many will FM3 have? Pretty sure its more then 20.

Even though I speak basic Japanese, I've had a Native Japanese speaker translate the former for authenticity.

Also just did an online translation of the following to check:

20コース以上

guess what? got the same results as the native speaker. ;)

I would bet my hat that this is, in fact, the case. They'll have done the damage so well that it will be absolutely, unbelievably good though.

AMAR212 says 20 tracks, with 60 variations. Look at 1st post.

edit- he says 20 tracks, 60 layouts... what is a layout???

uncorrect ,if you look at the awkward translation by yourself (I mean directly one the website) then you notice that the number 60 is mentionned first !

So it's either 60 tracks + 20 variations

or 60 tracks + 20 to be announced soon (I guess that's the right one)

I think weather will be in and as for the "Premium" cars having damage - someone else mentioned that those could be the NASCAR, F1 and Rally cars.

That sounds about right to me too, since in Japan, a "Premium" car is always the most expensive or rare one. I hope all cars have damage and cockpit view and that they only separated the categories to "Premium" and the rest of the bunch, just to clarify that.

I am still waiting on the official, native Japanese translation from my friend. It's early morning there, but I should get a response soon [he's an early riser] and then I will share it here in this thread for everybody to see. :sly:

Me too, unfortunatly preference doesn't = truth.

True but on this one a bit of common sense should indicate that the translation of 20 courses is probably incorrect.

GT5P has 6 tracks.

We have also seen Tsukuba, Nurburgring, La Sarthe and of course the Top Gear test track. We have also seen a rally track of some description.

Here's the currently confirmed list. click

With that in mind, that leaves only 7 tracks (rally track hasn't been included in master list).

That means that PD must have had to ditch the the majority of their original tracks and real tracks. likely? no.

Added to that, why would they get the WRC licence and then only have a stage or two, it doesn't make sense.

60 sounds far more realistic using what we currently know.

60 tracks+20 layouts is wishful thinking. Sometimes Japanese to English is shaky, this isn't one of those times. It's 20+ tracks with 60+ layouts.

It sucks. We're just going to have to deal with it.

Do you guys think the 170 cars with "inside damage" could mean literally in the car, like engine & transmission, etc. Including NASCAR & Rally seems to really make sense with this because those 2 racing types have lots to do with how they perform inside?

Word for word in Japanese it says:

More than 20 tracks, More than 60 layouts.

I'd take that as 20 courses such as Fuji etc, and 60 variations (Fuji GT, Fuji 90's, Fuji 80's)

So GT5 will have less tracks than GT4? LMAO, yeah right.
And how many variations will each track have? thats 3 per track but some tracks like Nurburgring only have one layout.

Anyway, the most accurate translation at the moment says:
"60 courses confirmed with 20 or more to be revealed"

Don't forget NASCAR, if they go all out with NASCAR, thats another 25 or so tracks.

How do you get anything out anything he says?

There are so many interpretations of each, hence why he can't be wrong. One of them is bound to be right.

But so far he's got 3 from 3, you can see his original quote and what's actually been properly announced underneath and it's pretty much spot on to what he says. If he fluked one, we could've all possibly done that, but to have a 100% record, that's different.

170 prenium cars ? Maybe you get those cars when you buy the collector's edition or whatever it will be called. It doesn't make sense that in five years PD only developed a hundred cars with interiors.
