It's Phil Mills. Like it says on the car and like I posted in the News article.

The suspension bends when he hits the wall head on.

0:48 in de gametrailer vid.

Overall, there are a lot of minor improvements, but nothing really shocking.
It's all just not quite right yet.

Well, looks like not all cars will have damage... Pretty disappointing, especially when Forza has managed to have damage on everything. Honestly, I'd rather have no damage at all than have it just apply to some vehicles. It'll be a pain in the ass, especially online.

Looking good to me... also it "seams" the Subaru is actually going slower when more damaged and having trouble blocking a theoretically slower road Evo on the previous video.

But it may just be poor driving.

Yeah, it's all cosmetic on that demo, no engine failures or damage that will slow you down.

That being said, it looks AMAZING! 👍

Its perfect, Its an upgrade from GT4 which is all I need in a game, I mean GT4 was enough if it had online etc, but seriously some of these posts have made me sick, no wonder polyphony dosent release news, some of you just seem to know how to cry about little issues and nothing else. You dont live in a perfect world, dont go expecting Utopia from a game.

Exactly, this demo is to give people a taste for the game and they want everyone to be able to play, there are probably many people who can't drive at all, so instead of making the experience end in the first corner when they hit the wall, the damage is toned down so that you can continue to race.

You do realise that PD might look at all this negativity and put the game on hold for another year to try and make you lot happy?

First: Kazunori was still unwilling to give a solid release date for Gran Turismo 5. Although, Kazunori explained, as Gran Turismo PSP is right around the corner, its upcoming PS3 counterpart shouldn't be too far away. That sounds like "sooner rather than later" to me.

The next detail Kazunori touched on was regarding damage models. I can confirm that not every car in Gran Turismo 5 will sport damage models -- it will only be select sets. However, Kazunori has yet to decide on a finalized list of featured car types for damage support.

Lastly, it sounds like Porsche will not make it into Gran Turismo 5. As disappointing as this was for Kazunori, Porsche signed an exclusive arrangement elsewhere and will probably not be included. It looks like Porsche fans will have to wait. http://ps3.ign.com/articles/101/1015537p1.html

That's i been saying.👍

Looking at those images you've put up, I think perhaps some of the concern is that that's just generic pre-designed damage.

By which I mean, why would the Pirelli logo be 'faded' like that if he got rear ended? Why is there a scratch going through the middle of the number plate on the rear? It's just not realistic in any way, and is the same sort of 'canned damage' that is seen in other racing games.
I posted the shots to show there are scratches & dents to the bodywork, & not just bumpers/doors falling off as some people originally said.

How much further PD goes with is something I agree with you on, though. :)

You can't sonfirm anything about damage from a Gamescom demo since it's not going to be a full blast version of the game.

As for Porsche I question that article since exclusive normally means one and they are in at least 2 upcoming games.👎

And arrangement normally refers to 2 or more things that are/have been arranged. Exclusive also doesn't have to mean 1 thing....

Here is my take on this crazy, cryptic situation.

The fact that not all the vehicles will have damage makes me feel like we will be buying an unfinished game. Maybe I am alone in this, but I strongly feel that way.

Secondly, if 80% of the vehicles in the game are from GT4 and they are the fully rendered models [the ones PD built for future use and then scaled them down for the PS2] - what was PD doing for over 5 years!?!?

If weather and night races aren't in the final game - I am going to be sickly disappointed. 1,000 vehicles is great [I said a few weeks ago that I felt there would be 1,000 or more vehicles in GT5, so I am ecstatic about that], and all the other features sound amazing too - but I hope we at least get cockpit view in ALL the vehicles, weather [rain and snow] and lots of tracks.

The 20 tracks with 60 variations statement is ludicrous. Why would PD downsize GT4's track content and only include the roster of vehicles from the same game? 5 years is plenty of time to create at least 400 new vehicles, right? Every Gran Turismo game features cars from that year or at least a year older [and lots of classics and concepts] so why give us 75% of the same cars we have already seen before?

Also, GTPSP has cockpit view and I think it's for all 800 cars - so why wouldn't we have cockpit view in all the vehicles in GT5?

I dunno, I just really want confirmation of weather and night races for GT5. I hope someone asks Kaz about that at GamesCom.

If those 2 features aren't in GT5 - it really makes me wonder what they did for over 5 years.

I'm not knocking PD - I love them! I will buy GT5 regardless, but I am only being honest that I would be disappointed if there was no weather or night racing - especially since Kaz has stated numerous times over the past 5 years that they were working on those very things [weather specifically].

Forza 3 is the main competition for GT5 and I really want to see a strong showing from Polyphony Digital against their rival - but unless that details list for GT5 was only half of the full features list, we may be a little let-down this time.

Remember, Kaz was asked to describe GT5 and he said there was so much content, that it would be very difficult to describe. Well, apparently so is listing GT5; as we all have been confused by that too! :sly:

I agree 100%. The wait is the real catalyst for the disappointment. Nothing is confirmed but I certainly am not getting my hopes up now. I will buy GT5 like probably every member of this site but I am not going to lie FM3 and NFS Shift are looking better in light of these recent "unconfirmed new reports".

I love PD.

Although some may be unhappy about things in/not in the game, however PD will do it, they'll do it in a way we'll all love it. That we can be sure of.

I just finished reading through all the posts since I logged off last night and I have come to one conclusion:

Way too many people have made accusations based on cryptically written then translated articles, crappy quality videos, and declared Forza 3 the winner (it's a contest?) without ever having actually put their hands on the game.

I have had many thoughts and opinions regarding everyone making these kinds of comments, but the AUP prevents me from passing them along.

Everyone calm down.

I also see many of you chose to ignore this:
I BEG - REALLY BEG - EVERYONE to not make this thread another "Damage pros-and-cons" thread.

Please.

Please.

And I also beg people with common sense to qoute this on next pages everytime that useless debate re-appears (because it will).

I love getting new GT news, but hate what it does to these forums.

Hey now! :sly:

I did an excellent job with that translation! Even my Japanese friend's translation was only marginally different from mine; so I can say that I am proud of my work.

I'm only meaning this as a joke, by the way - I'm not really mad or anything. :)

It was very cryptic - and needlessly too, I might add. My friend sent me another e-mail an hour or so later after he finished his translation of the list. I just read it - Listen to this:

Kyosuke (my friend in Japan)
Matthew,

I was glad to help you with that translation! It's funny though, even being Japanese I had a hard time with the first part of it, the part about the cars. It was worded strangely and I think they removed it because it was incorrect. Maybe some things in it were backward or just wrong. My wife and I both looked at it and we came up with the exact same structure and translation. Whoever wrote that must have not been paying attention or just got his facts jumbled around.

If you need my help again, just let me know.

Cheers,

Kyosuke Maeda

Maybe that's why they removed the list - because it wasn't correct or worded properly?

Lets cross our fingers for a complete and easy-to-read version soon! :sly:

I've said it before, I'll say it again: why the hell would we need 1,000 cars? If SHIFT &/or FM3 turn out to be all-round better racing games than GT5, it will be because PD has spent years trying to increase the car count from the already crazy numbers in GT4 rather than improving some of the basic features of the game.

YOU CAN'T HAVE EVERYTHING. Having hundreds of cars is going to take time, money & resources away from developing other aspects of the game. :indiff:

I amended my post to not reflect poorly on you. It was bad wording on my part, and even though you realize I didn't mean offense I don't want it to read like that.
