This guy I used to work with bought one. It was a regular Crown Vic, but was dark blue, so it had the police cruiser look to it. I guess it's a real pain to drive. Like ND4SPD said though, it would be fun to play on the freeway(man, I'm sick!).

It was on the first page. I'm a little slow. To clarify, my friend's dad said the low mileage ones are being sold because they're lemons. If a used car is being sold with low mileage, it's usually for a reason.

yeah the low mile ones are being sold for reasons like ring failure or a cracked heard or something like that... but the hile mile ones you can bet were beat to hell during their short life as well.

sorry man my english is bad :guilty:
Bad english is ok - Don't worry about that. It's you TXT writing that scares me - You know - "r" instead of "are" etc.. Even if _your_ english is bad, think about those with english as a second (or third) language...

That magnum is pretty badass. I'm actually considering on getting an ex cop For Crown Victoria for a first car, I find them dead sexy with the Police package and in white with the black steelies. It'd be hilarious just to see all the cars behind me afraid to pass....Plus it'd be fun to follow around some ricers and scare em.

I bought one, I loved the hell out of it. It was one of the most fun cars I've ever owned...drifting was so much fun and easy. And people will move out of your way and it's funny to see people slam on thier brakes when you are approaching. I got rid of it because I was unemployed and the gas mileage was costing me a fortune. I however WILL be buying another one this year and doing a few modifications which include; stiffer suspension, supercharger, and some minor engine tweaks.

but if people think you're a cop... they might vandalize you car...

I left my car unlocked and with the windows down...I never got broken in to or vandalized.

I wonder what will happen if you buy a used Crown Vic. and then slap the police "wheels" onto it.

The P71 uses the same steel wheels as the normal Crown Victoria, the "police wheels" are just normal Ford wheel covers...that could of been purchased by a civilian. And you can order the center caps like I had on mine also--even today you can goto a Ford dealer and order any of those wheel covers, black trunk cover, and the police interceptor badge--keep in mind it is only legal to put the police interceptor badge on your car if it is a real P71--which is in the VIN. If a cop pulls you over and *****es about it show him the VIN and tell him that it is legal to have and that is the model of the car. I know the chief of police here locally along with several police officers and as long as you don't have the undercover strobe set, lightbar that's green/blue/red (amber is legal ONLY if you are a utility worker--and white is for offroad use only but you can hve a clear lightbar just don't use it or hook it up impersonating a peace officer is a felony), license plate covers, more than 2 antennas, and you can't actually USE the spotlight you'll be legal and fine.

About the undercover wigwag strobes...you can't have those for legal reasons BUT you CAN have a normal strobe flasher modulator installed--obviously you can't use it unless it is an emergency like going to the hospital. 👍

Class dismissed. :sly:

Not sure if any of you read the Daily Telegraph but I know that 'Honest John' encourages people to buy ex-police cars. Though he does recomend some forces over others.

Also, police cars in my area are now silver instead of white? Re-sale value maybe?

(Not that a whit Skoda is a bad thing. It's all the taxi drivers drive around here.)

It was under miscellaneous police demonstrators :odd: But I assume it is a proper poolice car as all the others appeared to be.

Damn, that's a nice car for a doctor

I like the UK Police paint scheme...I bet it would be legal to have it over here. Just can't obviously have the word "Police" or the lightbar. I should import a Rover 75 and UK policify it. :sly:

Dude, that is badass. I love those P71's...I hope I find one with the spotlight still on with a pushbar on it. What year is that? Looks like a 2000 or below.

Like This perhaps?

But can I just ask.. Why a Rover 75?

Yea, that's exactly what I mean. And I rather like the Rover 75--and I could get some MG ZT-T upgrades for it and it would be peachy-keen converting it. Rover/MG may get a bad rap in the UK but considering here in the states there is enough crap to go around...at least the styling is better on that 75 than say anything from GM or DC in sedan form. 👍 That picture makes me want to make some UK Police designs on Forza--I've already done a Sheriff design on the CTS-V.

You're exactly correct, it was a 1999 and it was complete with the vinyl floors, the center console, some misc switches, and I wasa able to talk the guy into leaving the undercover strobes and complete wiring in it. The awsome thing is when I sold the car I ganked (American slang for took off or stole) my corner lenses with the undercover stobes in them (I can take pics with my cell if you want to see). I got them sitting in my closet along with my Police Interceptor badge waiting for another P71 I will eventually buy. Even though the horsepower rating for the 1998-2001 P71 was only 239bhp it was a blast to drive and did not feel slow at all...infact from 5-85mph it was quite a quick machine. Street starts really makes this car shine--slow from a stop but real quick once it's 2-ton body starts moving. 👍

I know someone local that sells the P71 parts and even some P71s, if you need the rhino push bumper, the center console, (or for a small secret fee) some strobes wired, or anything P71 related he's your guy. He had an ex-Wisconson 2001 state trooper car with 45k miles that he wanted to sell me for $3200...should of bought it. That was once in a lifetime finding an almost new well taken care of P71. Hope you find a good one, and keep in mind most municipalities actually put damaged steel wheels on the cars they sell on ebay--usually bent or damaged in some way. If you go pick one up buy a set of 4 from Ford or somewhere else new and install them before driving it home. 👍

Thats sweet man. The rhino push bumper looks spectacular on P71's. I live in Canada, so a 2000-up P71's are going for around 5 grand. Definately not bad of a deal considering what you get. There's just something about them I like so much. Its true, I know someone who drove a P71 Crown VIc and said from a stop it isn't that great but when accelerating from a roll they seem to pull hard. My only gripe about them is the 4 speed auto. I'd be interested in them more if they came with a 5 speed manual. Also, I want to get this clarified, the Crown Vic's came with 4.6 litre V8's. Which seem to sound very familiar to a Stang's engine. Are they the same engine block? If so, then are most engine upgrades for stangs be the compatible for the Crown Vic's engine?

Same whole drivetrain as the Mustang, AFAIK. I knew a guy with one, but it got wrecked.
I only rode in it once, it felt very floaty and heavy, but still quick.

Hmm, Mustang 5 speed would be fun to transplant into that car then.

The engine is straight out of the Mustang GT (and not the Cobra). The exhaust is kind of crappy if you ask me. Install a catback system and you'll easily get +25-35bhp increase at the crank. How much is 5000 Canadian in USD? Oh and I'd get a 2002 P71--increase in power and has a better cam setup not to mention cruise control which mind did not have. haha
