People that have the bass so loud in the car that I can feel it half a mile away with my windows closed. It doesn't sound good when you're in the car with it, what's the 🤬 point of that crap?!

Oh, that's nothing. Here, during 9 p.m., there are some tough guy out there on the street who are listening to ripoff rap music with bluetooth speakers with its maximum volume, with those beautiful lyrics, like: **** **** **** why are you a w***e I'm going to your ******* mother why are you so b*tch

I live in a third-world country where subwoofers and speakers like that are too expensive, so they go for the next best option:
They install the noisiest exhausts on their scooter bikes and rev them out on the suburbs at 12 midnight waking me up every damn time. It's worse than a car with a big exhaust because it's so high-pitched and there's no mufflers in the first place.

They are not allowed over here. Police will stop those cars, give the guy a ticket or confiscate the car.
Good. Im music lover and care a lot about audio quality. It sounds awful with the rattling in your car why are you doing this to yourself? Is the status image worth it?

And they're littered with ads too right? I've decided anything in that format is not worth the time to know. Someone could release the cure-all for cancer in that way and I'd never find out

Unprovoked slander

I was waiting by the hillclimb just outside Goodwood House at the Festival of Speed: a brief pause in between vehicle groups was taking place. There was a group of people next to me, one of which was sitting down just in front of the rope that divides the crowd from the straw bales. A marshal came along and asked politely for the person sitting down to move behind the rope. Another member of the group, Cork (because of his cork hat) felt obliged to tell the marshal: "He'll get up when the action starts." Marshal insisted that he moves now for his own safety. Cork started getting agitated and pointed towards a girl further down the line who also was sitting in front of the rope. "Well what about her, then? Eh? Or all those people crossing the track?".

Marshal replies: "I'm just doing my job, sir. For all your safety and -" then Cork snaps back: "Ah, you're not a motorsport fan, are you? You're just a stupid bureaucrat. All you care about is what they pay you."

None of the other group members reacted to any of this, either through awkwardness, not giving a damn, or because they agreed with Cork. It was bad enough that he was going off on one, but to drop the bureaucrat line on the marshal (who by that point had reiterated his original request and moved on) was out of the blue and completely unwarranted. The marshal was only doing the job he had been hired to do.

And then Cork had the gall to turn to the group and display the sort of body language that screamed: "Yeah. Sure showed him what for." Same too for the guy who was on the ground who eventually got up. :irked:

i.e. and e.g. is confusing . There was a time I know exactly which abbreviation to use. As of lately, I have to look it up to see which one I need to write my sentence.

I thought it was interchangeable. Enlighten me :)
i.e. = d.w.z. >>> d.w.z. is the Dutch abbreviation for "dat wil zeggen". Dat wil zeggen = that is, this is, this means.

e.g. : bijvoorbeeld >>> Dutch for for example.

It is all in the translation. :D

Google
I.e. and e.g. are both Latin abbreviations. E.g. stands for exempli gratia and means “for example.” I.e. is the abbreviation for id est and means “in other words.”

I'm not sure relating it to completely different abbreviations which mean the same thing in a different language really helps that much.
Thing is they're close enough that most people will know what you're talking about regardless of which one you use.

Oh, okay. There is actually a huge difference between the d.w.z. and bijvoorbeeld. So, it is as I said, a translation thing, which makes it even more confusing, for me.

I always translated it as "that is to say" or "in other words" for d.w.z and bijvoorbeeld as for example. Yeah lets just add translation to the pile of confusing stuff.

I’ve always used “e.g.” in written form and “i.e.” in spoken language; they both mean the same thing to me - an example.

I’ve always used...“i.e.” in spoken language;
:odd:

I have to say...I've witnessed people doing that ("eye eee") and not only was I confused as to why they would instead of simply saying "for example" or "such as" (the latter possessing no more syllables than the abbreviation), but I also found it rather annoying.

Not only that, but I've also witnessed it trigger a confused response, which means the explanation required a great deal more effort than using the full phrase. The worst bart is that the confused individual was familiar with the abbreviation but, like me, was confused by its use in speech.

I know, I know...I'm being pedantic.

I have no objection whatsoever to its use in writing, though, in fact I use it regularly. I've actually caught myself using it in writing of dialogue, purely out of habit, and thought to myself, "Why would anyone say that aloud?"

They don't mean the same thing, they're both Latin abbreviations. To my mind, anyone who gets them wrong is just getting them wrong.

ie = that is, literally (Latin) id est

eg = for example (I don't recall the Latin expression)

I don’t understand why people want to bring full carts to checkout when they don’t know how much they have on their card to begin with.

Don’t you want to save money? What’s going on here sir :odd:

When co-workers and managers don't want to put in the effort to fix a problem that really shouldn't exist. All they say is "well, the problems just going to happen again" or "No one's going to listen." Rather than doing anything about it to prevent it, they just "deal with it." I thought you're supposed to work smarter...not harder. I feel like I waste so much of my time at work fixing other people's mess that I can barely ever do my own work. (Unfortunately the mess that other employees create affects my job. So I have to fix it no matter what...) Anytime I bring it up to the managers, they just say that it's not worth telling everyone to stop making a mess. This has happened at almost every job I've had. The frustration is driving me mad....

I feel, I feel. I work in radio where advertising is a key part of the business and if our ads don't air for whatever reason besides the spot not being in the system, then it's my fault. Unfortunately, there are many, many ways for a spot to not air properly including but not limited to technical difficulties and other co-workers interfering. It's really a team effort, but when the other co-workers don't help out, or help out incorrectly, it can be a problem. And, if there are issues that they can see ahead of time, they need to alert people and ask for help if they don't know what they are doing.
