You know how you tune your car like crazy and the sound of the car doesnt change very much??
Well id liek some exhaust tip and all the performance parts to make the car sound louder or a mean grunt more for the muscle cars and id like to see breather on the hood or a shaker
and you can buy part so you can chop your car down so it looks lower it would be amazing to have that !!
and as you tune your car more the price of it goes up!!! :) :sly:
I dont have any other ideas

I assume youre being sarcastic, though your last comment about the sale price of tuned vehicles not going up is true.

The engine noise has 3 variations (one for each muffler) , plus the hissing of the turbo (same for all turbos I think), and it's been like that since Gran Turismo 2. In 3 they added wind and tyre noise, and also a whirring sound for the transmission upgrades. I think that pretty much covers it? Not sure if the engine note changes for engine tuning in GT4. I suppose it will rev higher with some of the tune-ups, so that's kind of a change in engine noise.

im not sure if anyone has mentioned this but...am i the only one that hates the music?
it doesnt bother me so much on the short tracks but listening to "oh yeah" during an endurance race drives me up the wall!!!

also, the day/night thing...i wont explain.

more of the city-like courses in the special condition hall..theyre fun.

those manufacturer races are a pain in the @$$...buy a car soup it up a ton...and wat do u get for winning?...almost the same car??..thats INSANE...lots of great ideas from everyone...

For me damage added, I mean it adds to the realism of the game such as TOCA: Race Driver 2 where if you hit someone you will get visually body damge but also performance damage which you can hear and see.

More tracks, like I mean there are a bunch of tracks in Austraila (sp?) from the V8 series, and they are really amazing like Surfers Paradise and more Euro tracks EuroSpeedway.

More cars also, like more Aus V8 in the game b/c they are awesome. More open wheel racing b/c that's cool too.

Weather too would be good, it would allow the player the adjust to the conditions of the race.

That's it for me

The five-second penalty going to hell....

Errm, alot of good points have been made, just wanting to add a couple more... maybe.

Straight forward stuff first.

Damage, I'd really like to see PD do something with damage, even if it is only a gt2 slyled system (Where when you hit another car/wall, your cars corenering abilities are reduced). Possibly in race engine damage, or oil temperature where you either back off or have permanent damage done to your car.

Realistic wheel pricing, Somehow I dont think a set of used wheels from an eg civic are going to cost as much as a set of rays engineering wheels.

Aerodynamic bodykits, as mentioned by others, nothing rice, just kits to help with downforce. Perhaps kits to help with induction etc, ie. Mugen front bars/lips or rx-7 aero kits from re amemeya (sure would make your rx-7 stand out in an online race)

... Edit... AI! I'm so stupid for not thinking about this the first time 'round. To me GT4 is a great simulator so far, but in my opinion, not a great racing game...

Online racing, yeah, pretty straight forward, but having stuff like top 10 lap times, huge online events, etc.

Incresed size of cars on track 👍

Better sounds, I find that some of the cars are a little off, or become very annoying...

Night time racing, or a dynamic time system, where GT knows what the actual time is and bases what lighting conditions would be like, i.e if you start racing at 8:00 P.m, it will most likely be dark in the game.

Engine replacements, this would allow some of the cars you buy early in the game to be able to take on the bigger and badder models.

Hot lapping and time trialing, during your gt mode career, other racers may set new fastest laps, like they do in real life on tsukuba etc.

Wider variety of tracks and events, such as touge... I'm not wanting to sound "racer boy" but I think mountian racing would be pretty groovey.

And also, bring back racing modifications... I still love my Puma racing Mitsubishi "GTO", silly americans... GT1, good times...

Im sure theres alot more floating around in my head, but this is about it for the moment.

OK, I haven't read ALL 11 PAGES of this, so if I've repeated something, sorry. Things I'd like are for the different tuners parts to have different effects on the car, so that, for instance, a HKS suspension feels different to a Blitz or Mines setup, and engine chip upgrades that give different power deliveries etc. And also for the horsepower limit on races to come back from GT2, so that you can't blat around in an Escudo or F1 car and murder the game (I'm guilty of this in GT3, not got that far in GT4 yet).

Keep the wings in GT Auto, but have it as a kind of Stage 1 downforce/aero settings, with Stage 2 as the racing car conversion (again from GT2).

Wheel size option in GT Auto, not so that you can put 20" spinners on a Peugeot 206, because this isnt NFSU, but some cars do look like their wheels are just too small (especially the older cars), and having the option for bigger wheels would be good.

Oh and convertibles to drive with the roof down.

Stuff that I picked up on scooting through the first couple of pages :

Crash Damage - Good
Changing daylight and weather conditions - Good
More than 6 cars - Good
Better AI - Good
Better B Spec driver - Good

Time Penalty - Bad
NFSU Ricer stuff - Bad

I think it would be better if there were more race tracks from all over the world.

There are lots of places in the world that get used all the time anyway that seem to always find their way into games like this.

I'm from Glasgow, Scotland and it would be amazing to see what they could do with creating a track from here. The graphics of race tracks already is unbelievable so it would be kinda cool

I was also thinking more about drag races perhaps, this i think would be good because not every car has a really fast acceleration although it has a good top end speed.

Another race track idea would be as if travelling perhaps through countries or Americas Route 66 if thats right. A massive race through well known roads. Those types of races could even be used as a 24hr races.

Kev.

These are more things I want...

1.)Red Rock Valley-Where did this track go?? It was my favorite track on GT2 b/c it had the straights, the heirpens, and the sharps turns...loved it...hope it's in GT5

2.)Day to Night-Last I checked, 24 hr races arent done in the sun the whole time:)

3.)Racing Mods(r/m)-What ever happend to racing mods like in GT2, sometimes I like r/m my slow cars, like a fiat 500r :)or miata mx-5 :D wish it were back:(

4.)Time Consumption Tuning-Less time wasted tuning a car, Gt4 takes too long :grumpy:

5.)Crash Dynamics-Must I say anything, it's so much more real w/ crash dynamics

6.)Even more cars(not that GT4 didn't have enough :) lol

7.) Better tuning-C'mon maybe a engine swap at least :D:D:Dlol My 240zFL has only like....ummm...I forget ... but It is possible to get way more horsepower than it lets you

8.)Speedo-How about a speedo that belongs to the car your driving. For EXAMPLE- You're in a Corvette Z06...how about a Corvette Speedometer with the two flags you know?? With the 240 mph speedo......:D you know lol That would be totally awesome if they had the speedo that corresspondes to the car you're driving!!!!!!!!!

9)Tires: How about if the time of the day affects you tires TOO?? if its cold, or if its hot...YOU KNOW!!

10.)And many,many,many,many many,many,many,manymany,many,many,many many,many,many,manymany,many,many,many many,many,many,manymany,many,many,many many,many,many,manymany,many,many,many many,many,many,manymany,many,many,many many,many,many,manymany,many,many,many many,many,many,manymany,many,many,many many,many,many,manymany,many,many,many many,many,many,manymany,many,many,many many,many,many,manymany,many,many,many many,many,many,manymany,many,many,many many,many,many,manymany,many,many,many many,many,many,manymany,many,many,many many,many,many,manymany,many,many,many many,many,many,manymany,many,many,many many,many,many,many more thing i have to say but i g2g lol later

A better more advanced pit system. Maybe you might have to hire staff for your pit crew and build up there stats or whatnot.
Yeah, that sounds good; the more experience, the faster the pit crew. And a pit crew that actually matches the car.

sorry if this has been mentioned

1. Bring back every track, from every game.
2. More Z Car's please!! And while I'm on it, give me some more realistic mods. I've read of people getting well over 600 hp out of a Z engine NA. I personally believe the 240Z to be one of the greatest handling cars on the game, considering age. Why not have atleast on of each Incarnation, 240, 260, 280, 280T.
3. Same with the Mazda Rotary family, although it is a bit more complete.
4. Allow more custom tuning, things like boost pressure, Air/Fuel, etc. Actual adjustments you have in real life.
5. More custom parts. In real life, with enough money, anything can be done to just about any car. If I had say, 20,000 Bucks, I'd have a 200+ 1980 280zx. I should be able to do this in the game as well. Perhaps something like engine swaps, or maybe even an "Engine Building Mode" where you actually choose the entire components that make up your engine, plus choose detail specs such as displacement, compression, etc. The only difference between a NA and Turbo engine, generally is the compression ratio. But you could adjust bore and stroke, cam lobes, timing, etc.
6. Have sparkplugs, perhaps Tune-up mode in Gt Auto that would work much like the Oil Change. The Nos is nice, but we need more!!
7. Make a street racing mode for god sakes!!!
8. And how about some competition drag racings
9. Talk to members of http://www.nedra.com/ for some fun with electricity!
10. Make sure of the following: First, ONLINE RACING IS INCLUDED!!! Next, Hard drive access is included. Don't be so stuck up about people modding the game PD, infact, encourage it. Games with mods, like, Quake 3, are always the most popular, and have the greats replay value. Perhaps a download could be availible to allow use to included or even design custom tracks, paint jobs, or even cars. Especially if your will hold out release on it for the ps3, it had better be the best game
11. Last one, short and sweet, release GT on the PC. Imagine the graphically capability. It would rock, oh yes. it would.

- cockpit for every single cars
- different tuner companies' parts give you vary performance
- driver's stamina meter like enthusia

- online racing is a must!!

im sure that the general jist of this has been mentioned here before, but i've always loved the stupidity of this truth within the gran turismo series. i must share;
the first gran turismo hooked so many people on the series (that it was allways going to become) that i would happily wager that at least 80% of everybody who got any of the last 3 main titles were veterans of at least one of the previous games. so many of the fans of the series wanted real challenge. a point already covered, but non-the-less you are all missing a really important element to KY's developement of the game. as you have all heard the GT programmers squeezed every drop of power from the console, and this is true.....
they worked day and night for many months of many years throughout the series to perfect the menu system! it is now by far and away the most challenging menu system in any game ever. amazing.

oh, and they mumbled something about that gameplay developement thingy. but i didn't really catch what they said. something about time restraints......

yup, now you are talking sense, bloody hell, id love to do some hybrid transplants, thats one thing not alot of people mention.

biggest reason as to why alot of stuff is missing from this game is to do with the maximum potential of the PS2, think about it people, e.g: most cars look great, that equals to high pixel usage, add to that the great looking track, sound, physics, AI, any more and the PS2 will explode, have a look at the machines spec and be surprised. its not that powerful. yet what shocked me was how much they extracted from that.

Thats true but it took the GT franchise so long to get to PS2's full potential, hopefully they will be on the ball with PS3.

ok, now that i have read this and related threads a bit i have a serious opinion to voice
it would appear that realistic collision effects (car damage, debris etc) probably rate top of the list as an average, and i would like to see it too! thing is, the playstation runs at less than just 300MHz!!! The fact that it manages a game like this is something you would never have beleived from seeing its first games.
according to KY proper collisions weren't put in because GT is meant to be a simulator, hence if it was going to model crashes properly, it would do it PROPERLY. im actually with him on that. but 4 out of every 5 crashes commited in GT would mean (when simulation=true to life) that the car would be obliterated, and into far more peices than the PS2 can model. also your save game should end; your driver's dead :ouch:. this would not go down well with many people new to the series :dopey:. then again doing it half a***d just isn't the same. however i do agree that pehaps a cost in credits to the player might be a compromise.
that said surely GT5 will be released on the PS3? in that case im sure most of the suggestions here would be looked at 💡
and although i still wouldn't be happy if there was nothing decent to prevent you from smashing into things as you please in GT5, it would be a proper acheivement if they put 'real' crashes in. so for now, no worries if they don't, kudos if they do.

and as you could probably tell from my last post i totally agree with just about any suggestion on the menu system. anythings better than this.

PD menu team - :dunce:
me - :grumpy:

I didn't feel like reading through 17 pages but has better car sounds been mentioned? for example a 00' ss camaro with racing exhaust sounds like a weed eater. Maybe they could cut down on the gear noise also when you purchase the full racing transmission. I know the straight cut gears are gonna make some noise but jeez it overtakes the car exhaust :(

i havn't read everything, but one idea i had was Car histories, with all the cars in the game now, its hard to remember what you used to win what races, as well as other things that could be added on top of Mileage(ie. how many oil changes, time trial times on a per car basis, best 0-60 time, best 400M time, best top speed, etc.)

i think it would be great cuz even now i have trouble remembering what cars i used for what races, and even though its great the game keeps track of your best times for each track, sometimes you just wanna find out what your best time was in something that didn't quite make the top ten

I know this may sound rediculous, but I would really enjoy seeing something along the lines of the Dakar Rally... More tuning abilities as well (I'm over all of my cars having Stage 3 N/A, it just takes the fun out of tuning your car). And there are many other things, but after reading 2 of the pages and seeing just about everyone say what I think, I find no need to add to that.

havent read the whole thread but two things....

Rally endurance races
and higher speed on B-spec (3x is fast but not for the 24h races, make a 5x setting)

How about a 24x for 24 hr enduros lol j/k :dopey: :dopey: :dopey:

On the endurance races I'd like to see brake dust once you've done a lot of laps. Perhaps brake wear would be a nice (optional) touch and maybe a brake pad change at some point in the race would be good as well, something to add to your race strategy.

Also, a random accident during a pitstop would spice things up a bit, like a pit crew member drops a wheel or the refueling nozel gets stuck or something like that.

That would be a nice touch. Such an accident has cost me several positions several times in NASCAR Thunder 2004. It pisses you off, but it happens it the real world, so go ahead and add it. As long as you don't have anything like accidentally running into a member of the pit crew that occasionally happens.
