MY IDEA FOR DRAG RACING WITH RALLY SETUP
Here's what i think gt5 needs for a drag strip. give us a parking lot 1.5 miles in length and .5 miles wide. Setup two set of lights one for bracket one for h2h. Have the bracket light setup so that you can set your time burn out and then stage in that sequence and for the h2h lights just make you burn out and stage. You would have to stay staged for at least 5 seconds to start the tree. Also before you start the race you can pick the distance of 1/8th mile 1/4 mile or the full 1 mile.Ok once you reach the end of the track you get a lil summary somewhere on the screen of your time, r/t, and mph. Then you drive back down the side of the track back to the staging area and wait for your turn to line up again because its a continuous cycle of cars where everyone just do there runs then get back in line.So that's my idea for drag racing it would make a lot of sense to do it like this and i dont think this is such a hard thing to implement.

this has probably been mentionned before in this thread or another, but, more cars. i don't know how possible it is/will be for the GT team to add more cars through updates, but I would love nothing more than to see plenty more Volkswagens (Corrados, Sciroccos, Golfs, Jettas, Passats) and older BMWs (E30, M1, 850CSI). I also love diesels, so TDIs, GTDs, 335Ds, bring'em! also, porches. i'm not sure why the GT franchise isn't implementing porches in its game. too expensive? it got some much bigger players this time around. i know RUF is close, but I was hoping for the 930 Carrera 2.7, 928, 944 etc.

the Mont Tremblant Circuit. oh yes, this would be nice to see, although it isn't known to many, so i strongly doubt it.

Not really needed, but bring back the GT3 pictures that were in the picture for Sunday Cup, FR Challenge, etc. Again, not needed, but adds a bit of nostalgia.

RALLY
Ok the stages are far too wide. They need to be more like dirt 3 stages. And the corners need to come up qicker ,there way too spaced out. And we need more drivers on the track.

The first post really needs to be updated. Some of those requests have been filled.

The #1 thing I'd like to see added:

Power/Weight Ratio as one of the restriction settings in Online play.

I'd say I couldn't fathom why it's not in there in the first place, but much of this game seems haphazard and unfinished, so it doesn't really surprise me.

This one addition would alleviate almost all of the bitching that goes on about what people bring into the rooms. Wouldn't matter WHAT you drive as long as it's a similar P/W ratio. (Yeah, race cars would still have some advantage, but not as much. How about a "No race cars" setting of some sort as well?)

Yeah, I agree with you. I think you could easily codify what it is you want by saying that we need the Online play refined. More options like a power-weight ratio restriction or maybe even a budget restriction (you can only have spent X amount of credits total for your car plus modifications) would allow there to be closer racing and more emphasis on driver skill. Plus, since there are lots of different ways to get to the same kind of setup or performance this way (at least numbers-wise) it would also add to the unpredictability of a race. With the playing field leveled and tuning, driving, and car strategy brought to the fore, we'd see a lot less complaining.

Stop that damn building popping up after final bend on special stage. Once you notice it it is distracting :). Tidy up the popup I guess I am mumbling out here :)

I would like two things

1) You know how you can press triangle in some areas of the game and a little menu pops up? I want a menu like that for the Used Car Dealer so i don't always have to load the car to buy it. Nitpicky yes, but it would make my car collecting a lot easier :)

2) I would like the ability to skip the animation when receiving a car. Like: The animation doesn't even play. I just buy the car, it puts it in my garage, then gives me the "paint received" message (if applicable). Then i go about my business.

I hope this is not too much to ask:

1. Skip the "newly bought/won car arrival" screen, This is hideous... I don't wanna wait a good 2 minutes every time I got a car. Loading... show you front of car.... loading... ask if you want to get it.... loading..... saving.... more loading....

2. Combine GT auto and GT Tune in one place, Loading..... change oil..... loading.... saving.... loading..... get in tune shop.... loading..... buy something.... loading.... install something loading... quit... loading.... this is super super annoying.

First post needs changed, as you can now turn off the HUD when playing the game

Things I want changed -

1. ability to fast forward B-spec (I do not care if the lap times are not as accurate as in normal speed)

2. The ability to buy the correct tyres for Bob for a certain race (cos he always needs crapper tyres than we get to use) at the race select screen. Rather than having to exit out all the way back to the home page and going to the shop, then going all the way back to the race select screen.

3. In GT 1 and 2 (I think) there was a record lap time in the top right corner (which recorded your best lap of that track). I want that back. As it was fun to try and beat your best ever lap time, (rather than just your best lap of the current race, like it is now).

DLC, there needs to be some. mw2 had 'map packs' GT5 should have 'track packs'. would really like to see red rock valley and complex string back :D

-realistic or much better tire physics/behavior/wear.
-different tire widths to choose from
-more compounds
-adjustable tire pressures

Just can think of all things tire related so far. I like the game a lot and driving is so much fun. :)

Hey all,

I posted this in it's own thread, but a mod rightly pointed out to me that there was already a thread about this subject, so I'll throw it in here :)

Before I continue let me say that I've been a GT enthusiast since GT2, and have been enjoying GT5 a lot since it was released. However, the GT series has also always baffled me by making so many obvious, to me, mistakes. By leaving out stuff that would be so easy to put in and would improve it dramatically. It's never stopped me from loving the game, and it hasn't now, but I do experience this more than ever in GT5.

1. Licenses/levels:

This I would significantly change. First, I'd lose the levels completely. Then, I'd revert back to licenses to open up races. I'd do this with a twist though.

Basically, any car can be bought at any time, and driven in practice or arcade mode. However, to be allowed to race it in A-spec races, you'd need the appropriate license. This means you wouldn't need licenses to enter a race, but it's possible to need a license to use the car you need to enter the race... (hope you're still with me ).

In addition to the types of licenses we already have, I'd add licenses for specific race-classes (DTM, Nascar, WRC, etc.)

2. A-Spec races:

Another area where I'd change quite a lot. Most importantly, I'd add way more different races. Basically, at any level (beginner, intermediate, etc.) I'd add a number of "standard" races: FF, FR, MR, 4WD, Turbo, Euro, US, Japan. Besides those, there would be more specific-rule races, like there are now, but more. Waaaay more.

I'd add more rules to most races, much like in the current seasonal events. (Power limits, weight limits, tire limits, assist limits, tune limits).

And, very important, I'd add qualifying. Even on a 3 lap race? Yes! Especially on a 3 lap race. Imo, one of the most unrealistic things in GT(5) is the fact that it's considered "normal" to overtake around 7 supposedly competitive opponents in 3 laps...

I'd also make more of the races championships (saveable ones, mind).

All this would, apart from offering simply way more races to participate in, allow for more competitive racing.

Imagine a championship over 5 races, 5 laps per race, all cars at least 1300kg, max 400 bhp, FR, sports soft, tuning "level" 2 -I'll get to that in a sec- and 3 qualifying laps allowed for each race. I'd say that would allow for some quite exciting racing.

3. Tuning:

I like tuning my cars in GT5. The system works quite well. It could be better though. First of all, I'd remove options like ABS, ASM and TC from any car that doesn't normally have it, and add the option to put it on in the tuning system.

Also, I'd make different setups saveable (like we had before... puzzling why that's gone).

And, I'd put in brake upgrades.

Actual branded tuning parts would also be very nice, and would also allow for complete tuning packages (the way tuners like Mansory sell them).

I'd also like to see some more variation in what tuning can be done on different cars, it's a bit "slap on the standard set of upgrades" now. The limitations that are there (like no turbo for some cars) seem a bit weird though.

4. Car line-up:

I'm not too upset by the standard/premium issue (more premium is better though, obviously). I'm not even too concerned about having dozens of skylines. I do think more "great" cars should be in there... older BMW M3's, more AMG's, Koeniggseg, Gumpert, more Aston Martin's just to name a few...) Some Daihatsu's could be sacrificed

Anyway, I could go on for ever probably, about visual tuning and damage models and custom A-spec races and career-challenges and and and... but most likely I'm already boring you all to death, so I'll end it here... Please reply with your own vision of an improved GT5 and/or your comments on mine!

Want new HUD custimization options.

Issue:
When playing in any camera view beside bumber cam...cockpit, hood, outside view...the HUD that is up could use a change.

The HUD is pretty annoying to have to scan to the bottom left of the screen to read your speed and then the bottom right of the screen to read the RPMS / GEARS. This gets worst the larger the TV screen you have.

Would like a change to stack them on top of each other and locate them on one of the corners would help a lot. It's like speed reading a long paragraph, it's much faster to read when the paragraph is nicely stacked in rows and not written out in one single line.

It's great they updated the HUD to be removable but take it a step further, digital cockpit dashes like the Honda S2000 still display speed in KPH even if you use MPH.

I would like them to add a simple little tickbox on each car in the dealership/used car lot, so if you already own that car it is ticked (could also add a number to display how many of that car you already own if you own more than one). Would save me having to keep a list of cars I own!

this might have been suggested, but digitally remastering tracks from previous GT's and optimising them for GT5 and adding visual effects. They need to focus more on dirt/snow tracks, because all of the rally circuits are new.

My top ten, by priority:

1) Drag strip/test track

2) Save and exit in the middle of a endurance race. - like real life: One driver is allowed to drive 150 minutes nonstop, and can enter on two cars, yet a rest time of at least 2 hours has to be observed between two turns.

The rule should be something like - 1 driver for 3-4 hours non-stop, letting you save after that in the pit. Resume where you left off.

I don't think you should be allowed to save during a championship, though... just make Endurance races a bit more like Real Life for the Real Driving Simulator.

3) Brake upgrades like gt1,2,3,4,5p.
4) Online PP point system like gt5p.
5) ALL tracks have weather and night racing.
6) Add some more recent model years as free DLC.
7) ALL tracks from GT1-GT4 that didn't make it to GT5 brought back
8) More tracks as DLC.
9) Fast forward in b-spec.
10) Livery Editor.

Runners up:

Option to run a series of races in multiplayer mode.
FF/RW during replay

Remove whole level system, has absolutely no place in a gt game (the license tests work just fine) and is the main reason to why people are so angry at the game (grinding your brains out just to get the next race open).

Lot more extreme level races and remove stupid 9h or more time in the same car on the same track BS.

B-spec mode should be removed, why would anyone include a mode that you are pretty much forced to complete (in order to get more cars) which doesn't involve you taking part in the action. You just get the fastest possible car and send Bob on his way and change to tv. I really don't understand why this made it in GT5?

Fix the user BGM

Fix the lights

Fix the A.I I mean every challenge in this game is one where you start way behind or you race against a specific time, at no point does the A.I. challenge you with equal cars.

Fix the menu, i'd rather have the blandest possible icons if the thing just loaded faster, if you need proof go change oil on any car i'll time you

When you win or buy a car it should just appear in you carage, i don't get the whole ticket thing

Rally is horrendous, by far the worst rally driving ever. I think you get more realistic gravel physics on GTA IV when you drive that Evo thing around the beaches

Online needs a lot of work

We should get the prize car every time we complete a championship and we should be able to sell any car we own, PD are just obsessed with us grinding:(

I could go on and on

Well said, I agree on everything really :)

I like the idea of not having driving aids on cars that wouldn't have had them but could be fitted. I try to drive my older cars witout ABS at times when the races aren't too difficult.

It has been almost 3 weeks since the OP started this thread. I hope he is still around to update his original post.

apologies if this is in another post:

Ability for online host to choose any car as acceptable for guest (not limit car set to 52 vehicles! :yuck: ).

I just completed the Le Mans 24h race in b-spec(or Bob did) and i got 287 000 cr and 2.2mil exp which is not even enough for level36 let alone lvl40 when the next race opens. This is retarded. I could have made the same money in under 10min and the exp in laughable. I wonder how many times the PD require you to give 24h of your and your PS3 time to go to lvl40, i don't intend to find out, no more B-Spec for me JAHUU.

You mean, like they did with High Speed Ring? A complete redesign? Or just taking tracks from previous games and MASSIVELY upgrading them graphically as well as details?

I don't necessarily mean ports. From what I understand, several tracks in GT5 (Grand Valley, Deep Forest etc) are the exact same as GT4 with the addition of a better lighting system. Do you mean taking the exact tracks from previous games and not only improving the lighting system, but their overall detail such as trees and grandstands? In reality, its the exact same track, just upgraded to a substantial scale. Would that still be considered a "port"?

I hope that makes sense.

Some features are already fixed.

  • Allow players to turn off ALL HUD elements.
This was fixed in the last update.
  • Allow players to use a controll pad to navigate the menus while having a wheel plugged in.
This is already possible, you just have to assign your wheel AND your controller to 'controller 1' in controller settings.
  • Ability to gain credits from online races.
Also fixed in the last update.
